  1. Thanks, just confused because in some news it sounds like it's illegal to sell but not to use ?
When I google IQOS Thailand it looks like they sell it already.

  2. Lots of info about e-cigarettes are illegal and jail sentence up to 5 years..... ?

Can it really be true that tourists will get in trouble if they bring their own e cigarettes to Thailand ?

What about IQOS from Marlboro ?

    Cheers

  3. The OP photo reminds me of my first visit to Khao San Road, back in 2001 together with friends traveling on backpacker budget – same friends that dragged me down to a tiny island, a bit against what I wished for, and the reason I ended up here: I did not wish to return.tongue.png

But back to Bangkok and Khao San Road, where my friends said that I should buy a padlock and toilet paper from the street vendors, which all seemed to have a splendid business going on with a variety of exactly that sort of items, before we entered to their favorite backpacker “resort” in a soi. Me quite unprepared - as last time, and my first time in BKK 14 years earlier, was at Royal Meridian - so I hardly understood why, but did as they advise me to. Well; they also already at home asked me to pack a bed sheet and towel in my suitcase.blink.png

What can you expect in BKK for 170 baht a night…?whistling.gif

You can expect a room without door lock, a bed and mattress with no lined, no towels – or anything else for that matter; apart from a broken chair, a worn-out fan and a bulb hanging in a piece of wire from the ceiling – however the room included a balcony to the busy soi; a balcony with a toilet without flush, a plastic bucket, and a short tube with a showerhead. The good news was, that there were a semi-transparent plastic shower curtain to cover part of the “en-suite bathroom”...thumbsup.gif

Are the old-time backpackers coming back to Samui…?

170 ???? That was expensive !! I usually paid 30-50 a night, but ok it was nearly 10 year earlier than you !

  4. Jeez, that's expensive!! And i bet they charge over the top prices for a beer too!!!

I guess they do that to keep the "riff raff" out .... but given there are plenty of beaches around Samui, with bars or restaurants or nothing at all (take your own) ... one does not need to worry ....

A towel on the sand does it for me! wink.png

At main Chaweng beach, you will be refused access to beach chairs everywhere, if you don't stay at the resort !!! Years ago you could get a chair if you bought food or refreshments but it's not possible anymore! Only options is Ark Bar but their mattresses are tooooooo thin but they have a great variation of foods and beverages just a shame the DJs think they get better as louder they play during the evenings. I spend many hours at Ark Bar during many years, but now the music is so loud every night that it's not possible to have a normal conversation anymore..

  5. I dont live in Thailand yet, Ive had a house/company for several years now. Im always getting a visa on arrival or a few times a 2M turist visa.

Getting a tourist visa is also a pain , so I was wondering what else I could get, when I have to go twice to the consulate anyway ? Im 47 and I go to thailand 3-4 times a year.

Ive never told the consulate about my house/company since Im not sure how smart it is to do so ?

    Any advice ?

  6. Key is for Emergency only – quite handsome when the battery runs out of power... whistling.gif

  7. I bought mine of size to store A4 and bit larger documents (Thai size, think F6...?) with code from Chubb – they also have with digital code in Home Mart and Makro (cannot remeber the safes at HomePro, but think they are digital too)...

However they all comes with an extra key – key hole hidden under a front plate – in case of battery power fails...

Chubb doesn't sell safes anymore, only Bangkok they told me.

All safes you talk about needs keys and code.

Years ago the had them everywhere but not now.

  8. Cheers, tried them all now, but looks like they all need a key to open, I'm looking for one with a simple digital code and no key.

    You mean one of these?

Ha ha sorry didn't check the video before now !

  10. It depends on what size you want.

I found good quality large (cabinet size) safes in the furniture shop on the ring road just below Makro (on the Big C side). Called YOUNG XXX (cannot remember).

Smaller safes in abundance at a big furniture shop on the ring road between Samui Gaol and the elephnat gate. (On the left coming from the gaol.)

Cheers, tried them all now, but looks like they all need a key to open, I'm looking for one with a simple digital code and no key. Size should be h:25 cm , w: 43 cm

Any other ideas were to buy or order ?
