  1. No aircon in March, April and May, in Udon at night would be cruel.. What's the point in living here, for a better life, and melting through the night? If people can't handle a few hundred baht rise, maybe they really shouldn't be here. Just an opinion
  2. No.. The Australian govt didn't "just". Can you find anything a bit more current than 3 years ago?
  3. In Australia plumbers are lionised and worshipped if theyre your mate or relatives. Otherwise we hate them because they're in short supply, and charge like wounded bulls. I've a couple of mates at homewho are plumbers.. No good now.. I live in LOS, not Oz. Anybody know a good one here? ????????
  4. 27 years an ambulance paramedic in QLD. Took in or treated Heroin, speed, ketamin, Phentanyl, prescription drugs, arsenic,..Resuscitated many, lost a few, but in all thay time, i seem to have been lucky enough to have avoided anything to do with weed. I should have worked here to get experience of the dreaded "pot overdose". Load of <deleted>..
  5. Sigh. Australia is in a much better position than most, mate, that's the point. "in the land of the blind, the 1 eyed man is king" The Australian residential market is toast was first heard by me in 1981 when I bought my house in Brisbane for 35k. Sold last year (not mine anymore) for 1.2 mil. Try a glass half full attitude sometime.
  6. The Oz dollar was at 19 just after covid hit the markets. Now nearly 20% higher. The Oz has been at roughly 50c to USD while Keating was boss, and hit 57 in 2020. Its a commodity currency, and waxes and wanes with the cycle. Its exports, agricultural and materials and energy, are priced in USD, so all are getting premiums on exports. Oz has had a windfall in the last year of approx 50 billion AUD due to this. We'll most likely have no recession there (looking at you, US, UK, EU) and energy supplies aren't a problem (UK, EU again). Oz is in better shape than the EU, UK and most of the rest of the world. NZ is heading for big trouble. Check your facts instead of just mouthing opinion and dressing it up as fact. OZ IS the lucky country, maybe not deserving, but is.
  7. Now if they could change the taste to something like ber Lao, I'd give them more kudos????????
  8. I was an ambulance paramedic until I retired her 10 years ago. I noticed that nearly every batch of newbies had a failed copper in it. You know, starched his uniform, carried the mag light holstered, wore aviators, etc.. Couldn't get into the cops 'cos they recognised the guy was a over the top nut job, so, not giving up on their dream of power, they tried something else in a uniform. They never lasted long. I've met a few tourist police in Pattaya, and Udon, where I live. More than a few remind me of the losers who joined the ambos. Just my observations..
  9. Stoned driving is worse than drunk driving. I can find my way home when drunk, but haven't a clue where I am when driving stoned. I wouldn't try the 2 together. ????????
  10. Feral cats in Oz provide no good function. They are an introduced animal. They're responsible for most deaths of native, endangered animals there. If they are wiped out in an enclosed area, native species thrive. The govt pays bounties for feral cat skins, for God's sake. Open your mind and read a little more. Read grown up stuff as well.
  11. So you don't have male cats where you live? We have Mexican standoffs going on for what seems an eternity around here. <deleted>#*s up your sleep as much as a dog.
  12. The cats around me I consider vermin if in my yard. Some of them tend to disappear now and then. They shoot them in Oz, feral ones I mean. They carry rabies, as well as dogs.. Just act differently when infected.
  13. Mate, the last time I was in Cairns there was no beach, just a small strip of sand. Crocs in the estuary, stingers in the sea, no deckchairs and, I think 4 bucks up for a coconut. Maybe things have cha ged, but I doubt it.
  14. Bit selective with your info, mate. I've lived here 10 years and been coming for 30. The 200 baht for an hour massage would be Issarn, where I live. I'm in Hua Hin now and cheapest around me is 250..4 star for 700 baht? Maybe during the Covid-19 era. I looked around here and that's not even nearly the case. Check Agoda {after taxes} Boat tours. Yep. Unique to Thailand, to visit ruined and overrun small islands. Range of food? Depends on where you are.. And if its not Thai, its not cheap and not good unless classy restaurant . Nice weather.? November through March. I'm from QLD, so I can compare beaches, food, boat tours, and weather. Thailand is cheap. QLD isn't. That's the difference. Try visit Issarn sometime as well, mate. Keow Yai, Beunkang, Mekong drives, Leoi District, etc, etc, before you put half the country down I'm off for a 250 baht foot massage now. I'll see if they'll give me a farang discount.
  15. WA seems to believe that they can avoid covid altogether. The narcissistic Premier who is hugely popular there, for isolating the state from the rest of the world, has turned into a wannabe dictator of sorts. Of course when the population eventually catches up with the rest of the world, and covid explodes there, it won't be his fault. Mind you, my mob in QLD aren't much better, run by another narcissist. It has been a lot easier for me living in Udon, than it's been for my daughter in Brisbane.
