  1. Thida said, "let people return home." ???? Which means they are "free" to remain, if they want? I'll believe they're leaving when we see firm evidence for it.

I've already bought my lottery ticket for today, although I'm not a gambling man, still I'd bet the Reds know something the Yellows don't. (best get out of Bangkok before the Government restores law and order). i.e. crackdown.

Then well all just have to wait and see how the two Yellow leaders contend with Murder charges on the 12th. Amnesty might have been a good idea after all, eh?

So you don't expect that the ridiculous charges to be dismissed? It is clear that the days of Thaksin are over and the judges not so easily cowed.

  2. Very clever move by the "reds" .

Ball in your court Suthep, he is now in a tough spot with a big rug pulled from under him.Needs to man up and admit he has lost again and let the country get back to Thai normal.

He can now join the amnesty crowd as he must have broken a boatload of laws.

The Government and Thaksin supporters have left the field to the protesters. The tail of the Hydra has been vanquished, now for the many heads.

Maybe having the reputation of being a party of vandals is a cross too heavy to bear and they didn't want to add to the load. The notion that the Thaksinistras have lost a lot of support is very appealing.

  3. I think it is a good idea for all you arm chair Falange keep out of it, you do not understand. Leave it to the Thai people it is their country.

Most of us are sitting in our armchairs and keeping well clear. Most of us however would reserve the right to comment. You'll have to excuse us for this since, being raised in democratic countries, we are accustomed having opinions and voicing them, a freedom that our forebears, and some of us personally, fought for.

If we do not understand maybe it is because the situation defies all logic. Those of us who have raised children may well have a better grasp on events.

If you have any more 'good' ideas or opinions. do feel free to express them here - thus making your post a total nonsense.

  4. I have been saying for several months that we are on the verge of civil war, never wishing for my vision to be proven correct. The only way to bring this to an end now is for the Army to take over... and for YL and her cronies to get on a plane to somewhere else...!

And the people who voted for them would also get on a plane to somewhere else?

I like posts with simple solutions. If they are truly simple. More often than not though, they're not.

. The losers will go away and sulk for a while and IF their lot in life improves they will accept the new status quo - and probably vote for more of it in the future. Cut off any communication from the convicted crook, and the money supply, and they'll be as good as gold.

Most simple solutions are the product of simple minds.

  5. Looks like logistics have beaten the redshirts and they are going home

They had the good sense (this time) not to burden the city with it. That means a time limited gathering. I'm not sure you prefer them to take the other option and hit town?

Right, didn't think so. And more importantly, neither do they.

The people that they bused in for this would be pretty annoyed that they're going straight back home after a couple of hours. I would imagine that there are some that haven't even arrived yet.

But I would think that the bus owners/drivers are relieved that they don't have to enter a potential maelstrom. Given Thaksin's record I wouldn't rely on him picking up the bill for damage to the bus or hospital bills.

  6. I would say a good spot to watch from would be the rooftop bar at the Hilton, but good luck with getting in there!

I think the official website mentions that they will 'close' Beach Road from 3PM onwards so with all the traffic forced onto Second and Third and the subsequent double-parking and the hundreds of tour buses that ferry the real tourists between hotels, restaurants and ladyboy shows....

The journey from Pattaya Nua to Jomtien last afternoon took 1 hour 15 minutes. Stop start all the way. Nobody around me switched their engines off when coming to a halt. The waste of fuel must have been enormous.

Would some Mastermind in City Hall or wherever connected brain and stage these extravaganzas out of town so that everybody is not inconvenienced or the air polluted with petrol and diesel fumes? The Thai response was as one might expect. everybody pushing and jostling with total disregard for other road users. It seems that Thainess includes the inability to exercise any forethought.

  7. Jatuporn warns demonstrating Ramkhamhaeng students against coming to Rajamangala

BANGKOK: -- Red-shirt leader Jatuporn Promphan Saturday warned Ramkhamhaeng students, who gathered inside the Ramkhamaheng 1 campus, against coming to the Rajamangala Stadium.

Jatuporn said it was fine for the students to rally inside their campus but if they attempted to block red-shirt people from entering the Rajamangala Stadium, the students themselves would get hurt.

"They have their right to rally. But if they come here, the ones to get hurt will not be the ones inside the Rajamangala but the students themselves," Jatuporn said.

He said the red-shirt people used to fight against 60,000 troops and armoured carriers so they are not afraid of Ramkhamhaeng students.

Jatuporn is playing right into Suthep's hands. Poke, poke, poke.....

Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect Thailand

Correct, Jutaporn wasn't afraid, he was hiding behind someone else when ever there was any real action - seems he is all mouth and trousers, unfortunately doesn't seem to be too much in the trousers though.

Au contraire, mon brave. What's in his trousers describes him pretty accurately whether you have a front or back view..

  8. That's nice, really nice.

Did the Prime Minister's Secretary-General Suranand Vejjajiva also tell the BBC that unlike 2010 these anti-government protesters are relatively peaceful, no terrorists?

The police is still capable of keeping red-shirts locked up in a stadium. A total lack of armed militants, no grenade lobbing fun.

Anyway next we'll get confirmation that the aircraft carrier will not be sailing up the Chao Praya.

What are you getting your knickers in a twist about? Has it not occurred to you that Suranand was answering a question put to him by a BBC employee? That's what tends to happen you see. When people go to the BBC, they are usually asked questions. That is of course, if they are visiting BBC News.

Of course this may not have been the case. Maybe there is a scandal afoot! BBC takes foreign government's money for party political broadcast! I can see the headlines. Or maybe Suranand just got his own cookery show on BBC Lifestyle and threw in a few protest-related announcements whilst poaching some eggs. Really. Lie down in a darkened room and think of home.

I'd be more interested if the News of the World were still alive and asking the questions. laugh.png

  9. Actually the supporters of Abhisit and Suthep must be highly ignorant. Suthep is a bigger crook than the unscrupulous Thaksin, just look at the convictions around the land scandal in the 90's

The supporters of the Democrat Party and Yellow shirts are completely clueless about the future, they are selfish, ignorant and belittle the rural poor, who have often much more of a brain than the idiots who claim to know everything about politics in Bangkok.

Just look at their power base. If the Democrat party was so good, how come they have killed 7000 people in the South and hundred plus thousand wounded? The South is the example for how Thailand will become if the elite gets their way again.

A pressing need for a long time lie down in a darkened room is indicated. Don't forget your Valium - and to arrange for a reality check.

  10. @tingtongteesood.

You mean the good ones are the ones who don t respect election and want to get rid of democracy to put an appointed cabinet?

If they are so confident that what is good is to beat a journalist to the pulpl as well as threaten an elected government of civil war... do some reaserch and you will see that these democrat leaders just have another hidden agenda : provoke unrest for their own benefits

Do some research yourself and then you'll see who gets all the benefits and who worries about where tomorrow's meals are going to come from.

Does anybody seriously believe that those on the streets now genuinely want their rural brethren to remain in penury? Could they not be demonstrating to save the soul of Thailand? It seems to me that the Reds want more of what has gone before, only the snouts changing.

  11. Poor old Mark, he just doesn't get it. He's so intelligent, educated, smart, and yet he just cannot win power legitimately because the people prefer the Shinawatra family to him. so now he is giving tacit support to Thug-sabarns extra parliamentary mob. Patience Mark, the election is under 3 years away, and then you will have another chance to persuade the Thai people that your squeaky clean, government of the intelligent, is really what they want, rather than a decent health system, a decent price for their rice, an end to exploitative rents from landlords etc etc. Good luck with that, Matk, sincerely.

You still fail to see what is going on in reality, despite the dozens of TVF posters who have went out of their way to inform you of reality.

You are just wandering around in your own little world seeing what you want to see, reading what you want to read and thinking what your red Thai family have told you what to think.

Why don't you allow your brain to have a little independence and freedom of thought.

    You really are brainwashed.

I see the reality very clearly - on both sides of the divide. The reality is that an unelected mob is trying to usurp power by undemocratic extra parliamentary measures. I find that unacceptable. So would you in your country. Why do you find it acceptable over here?

The freedom of expression in your country was won in part by people taking to the streets and fighting those in power. If what happened to Wat Tyler is any forecast the the protesters have to win. If not, further repression is sure to follow.
