$200,000 USD is over $300,000 AUD. Sounds suspiciously like the hospitals having a lend of them dollar wise. Even my Thai wife thought it seemed excessive medical bill. Nearly 7,000,000 baht!

we do not need to see these addicts on every streetcorner
now cannabis is not even legal for 1 year
and it destroyed most off the citycenters all over thailand
it smells terrible everywhere
those cannabis tourist from all over the world are a nusence for all self respecting people
with their eyes popping out and stinking op the place its worst than the pollution in burning season
and than there are people gathering signatures for keeping the cannabis on the street
maybe we should start gathering signatures to ban it again i think this would be many more
I'll bet you're a blast at parties. ???? I don't touch the stuff but I've also never seen 'addicts on every street corner' or 'destroyed city centres' like you're espousing. Care to give some examples?

There was a media report a couple of days ago outlining the gradual removal of all restrictions and by July it was suggested it was to be back to normal, no test and go, no PCR/RAT on arrival or on day five. Hopefully that will be the case.

Have to agree, why would anyone pull 800,000 baht out of a super fund usually getting 7% plus and put it in a thai bank and get what 1 1/2---2% interest..
Its called lifestyle choice I guess. 800,000 baht at 7% ROI (your example) is 56,000/yr. 800,000 baht in a twelve month term deposit (at Kasikornbank for example) is 10,400/yr - thats 45600 baht difference or 3800 baht per month. I don't know about you but I would think that the cost of living difference between Thailand and a western country would make it worth sacrificing 3800 baht a month to live there.

LOL I wonder how many will get sucked in with this April Fools joke.

I've been to the German Brewery a couple of times as well. As one poster said, the quality of the craft beers has deteriorated over time. Last visit there was no owner there that I could see, only a couple of Thai bar staff. They had trouble getting the beer to pour right as they were pouring into a jug and getting about 80% head then pouring the jug into the serving glasses. Consequently the beer came to the table with little carbonation (great I guess if your a pommie), next to no head retention and slightly warm. We tried a few different beers - all were the same. And the prices weren't cheap either. I was pretty disappointed with the whole experience. I don't mind paying premium if its a good drop but not on this occasion. Hopefully they will pick their act up...........

Hi,
I wonder if anyone can help. A friend of mine is getting involved with a girl in Chiang Mai that goes by the name of Noy or Jintana. She has a tattoo of a rose on her left knee and apparently used to be married to a UK guy, possibly named Phil and came from the Pattaya area. She's from up country - Sisaket I think. She reckons she dumped her UK husband about three years ago because he 'treated her bad'. She's living in Chiang Mai now with her cousin and as I said, my mate is getting involved with her. She hasn't had a job for two years apparently and I can't see how she would be supporting herself (as well as her family back home) without being on the game. Her supposed job in a resort keeps getting put back because the 'boss is not ready'. I'm curious if anyone out there has run across this girl before or knows anything about her as I don't want my mate to get in that deep he gets stung. It may be all true - stranger things have happened - but I'm hoping to find out a bit more. PM me if you want. Cheers.

Wow she don't look too bad at all. No mention of where she is now or whether or not she retuned to Oz with him.I wonder if she is still there and looking for a partner??
Now you just mozzy on back there and take a number..........behind me. I'm 76 but I hear that they are up to 568........lol

Come on...... two pages of comments and no-one's thought about today's date yet???????? 1st April....

Not the first time nor will it be the last that Thailand experiences cold snaps. Here in Chiang Mai in December/January (the coldest months of the year) you see it all the time where locals rug up with jackets etc.

Probably more like +++ for water/elec. in those type of places. Check the rates against actual govt. rates.
Excellent point.
I pay 5 baht a unit. Am told 8 baht a unit is not uncommon. At 3,500 baht a month if you use a air con you can double your rent.
Not sure what the government rate is I think 2 baht a unit. If some one can confirm this would be appreciated. B)
I think the main rate is 3 baht a unit.. 5 baht for condos has been a standard rate for 20 years, as I recall
We have a townhouse in Santitham area that we rent out rooms in. The electricity company charges 4 baht per unit, which we just pass on to the tenants without markup. Some places (condos particularly) sting you 6-8 baht per unit! BTW we have a room available now if anyone is interested. Cheers.

still, capital punishment is a big NO NO
It doesn't solve anything.
Keep this people separated from the public forever.
Oh dear, here we go again with another turn the other cheek do gooder
It doesn't solve anything? Give me a break it does two things:
1. Negates us (read that normal people who pay taxes and wouldn't even consider something like this) from paying for the upkeep of this vermin for the rest of his life and
2. Stops repeat offenders.
When you have someone close to you suffer at the hands of something like this come back and tell us. Loser..........

Hi,
For what its worth myself, a friend and my daughter had some work done recently at Fun sabai next to the Kasikorn Bank at Som Phet Market, just up from Thapha Gate is professional and well priced. I had a metal molar crown done for 6,000 baht, fillings are 500 baht each, cleaning the same. My daughter had fissure sealing done on her back teeth for 500 baht a tooth. X Rays only a couple of hundred baht. There is no way that I would pay 1000 odd baht for a filling when there are many capable dentists around for half of that.

Airasia are flying to London now at pretty competitive rates - check them out!

We've had a lot of success on the chiangmainews website (Chiang Mai City Life). Give it a go.

What a knob and tosser - typical army reservist wannabe. All he needs now is a yellow Hummvee and he's set It makes me ashamed to say I'm Aussie - a real embarrassment to Australians.

This hospital story has been over-played..... let's move on....
Typical comment by a red shirt sympathizer. If the reds do something ILLEGAL then lets just ignore it. I really do wonder at the calibre of some of the posters here.................

Let's keep things in perspective pls. Why is any of this worse than what we've seen very recently, with people getting shot and grenades going off and people dying? I sense a lot of fabricated indignation; the Reds are jittery, they KNOW they can get their faces blown off at any time by government (or rogue army) snipers.. It's chaotic, someone thinks they see military in the building directly overlooking their site.. It happens to be a hospital, but better safe than sorry.
Good of Dr. Weng to apologize though, respect.
Better safe than sorry? Are you for real? The reds are jittery because they know what they are doing is WRONG. Wake up and smell the roses sunshine and stop making excuses for their illegal actions. Unbelievable.
-
Abhisit/Government have already lost control of this country. The army and the police do nothing to stop the protests - for the simple reason they support the "reds" don't they. Anyone can see that.
The chief of the army already suggested that Abhisit dissolve the house. That was to allow him an opportunity to save face. Beacuse the next military coup is about to happen instead. I give it three days at the most.
A very simplistic view of the situation. I think that the Government have been very restrained with these loonies and have been reluctant to take a heavy hand because they are hoping to avoid or minimize casualties. Unfortunately for them, the red shirts have taken advantage of this and upped the ante to escalate the confrontation which as sure as night follows day, WILL come.
The sad part about it is that many rank and file red shirts who are rallying on the mistaken belief that this is all about democracy will be merely cannon fodder thanks to Thaksin and the red shirt leaders to further their political goals. The red shirts have been let get away with too much for too long so in their mind, they can do anything with impunity which of course will not be.
A sad sad day for Thailand.

I thought lithium/iron battery fires weren't able to be extinguished by water as they supplied their own oxygen? Must have been something other.
