they will vote FOR Thailand and AGAINST the feudal, ammart and elite corrupt system you favour
So they will vote against Thaksin and the Shinawatras..? Cool.
-
Nicely done.

My post was not solely aimed at you, Mr Vituperative - not everything is about you, believe it or not - and you clearly misunderstood or chose to misunderstand it anyway.
That's funny. Hilarious, even.

They aren't 'Earth Like' if they can't support human life or human explorers.

I'd defend Ms Yingluck as I have such a crush on her.....at least she's got more testicles than her fat gutless brother.....
You beat me to it - she certainly has bigger balls than her brother.
Whether that's balls or just lack of common sense remains to be seen.
Personally, I feel that she'll do fine.

Not so functional, now was he?

Anyway, I'm sure Martial Law will be lifted in time for elections to be arranged and conducted under normal law. As history teaches us the Military did that before
Exactly - that part of history seems to be what some people tend to forget, while consistently regurgitating the parts of history that haven't been repeated at this time.
In recent coups, the military has repeatedly and predictably stepped back, to allow another stab at the democratic process. There is no reason to assume it won't do so again, once they have created an even and fair playground in a couple of years.

don't the supporters of authoritarian rule not see that most adults take gross bloody offence at other self-appointed adults telling them what to do, think and behave?
I think, if anything, that's a personal problem specific to you.
No matter what government you are dealing with, you ALWAYS have other adults telling you what to do, think, and how to behave. There is no difference in a so-called 'democratic' society, so your argument is quite invalid.
Stop posting on here.
So, you object to being told what to do, yet have no problem issuing commands to others. Very funny.
Yes, I understand how being confronted with accurate information would make you feel uncomfortable - it's called 'cognitive dissonance' - but if you desire to participate in a discussion, then you will need to substantiate your statements - with more than implied threats of censorship to support your 'freedom' position, y'know.

That's a good enough reason to finish with her.
No, it's not.
Why not find a nice girl back at home and make all your mistakes there where they don't cost so much?
Divorces cost a LOT more in Europe than they do with a Thai girl.

I often wonder what it is about Thailand that holds those in the former group. Is it the sex?
Same thing that holds the constant bitchers and whiners as well. Yep, the sex.
That, or pending arrest warrants or child support payments in their home country.
After a while of listening to the same tales, you learn to read between the lines.

Are you seriously asking me to provide a source for the two claims I made ?
Yes.
I know, crazy to ask you to actually substantiate your claims. Crazeeeee!
Of course, you have (as usual) refused to do so - instead, deflecting (sorry, 'explaining) things that weren't and aren't salient to this discussion (but which you apparently enjoy repeating ad nauseam).
Nobody asked you to provide sources for the suspended constitution and the establishment of martial law (albeit, just for the record, you really haven't provided sources for that either... but I'd digress).
You were asked (and, of course, you know that, but are playing 'dumb') to provided sources for you 'begging the question' claim of "Are you convinced members of the NCPO aren't lining their pockets right now ? How about members of the government that refuse to give up their army position, it can't be for the pay, as that isn't anything special."
... and, of course, you didn't provide any sources for that (as usual).
This is becoming a habit of yours, isn't it?
-
Provide sources for your claims.
It's kinda funny that with your diatribe, providing sources is to ONLY point you blatantly ignored, while monologuing irrelevantly about issues you raised yourself. Strawmen, anyone?
-
What color are the luggage tags? ;-)
-
Provide sources for your claims.
Unsubstantiated allegations are invalid. I could easily disprove them with the exact same approach - in fact, claiming the NCPO to be clean and saintly is even easier, since there is no evidence to contradict such a claim (until, that is, you show actual evidence).
Bogeyman hypothetical insinuation arguments are invalid.
Of course, actual facts aren't really your forté, now.
-
The word is 'anecdotal'. ;-)
He actual means 'empirical' - ie 'factual' evidence.
Driving any 4-wheeled passenger vehicle in Thailand is just fine. This decreases as you remove 2 wheels from the equation. ;-)

OP, you're being unreasonable, or at the very least, naive and inexperienced with the cultural dynamics. She wants to accompany it - it's what is expected of her, but you should be aware of her economic realities. While she might be able to afford the flight, can she also afford to pay for her room, utilities, etc... while gone, and her expenses while abroad?
Suggest you either bite the bullet and pay for her ticket, or come to an arrangement of suggesting you pay for her local expenses (room) while gone, and she pays for her flight, or suggest you 'help' her with her travel expenses.
-
I don't believe anyone here describes the side you oppose as 'Saints' or anyone is wearing rose-tinted glasses - though I understand your need to build these sort of strawmen.

Really? Are you sure media spin has nothing to do with creating the image? I have observed the yellow camp engaging in far more violent and disruptive behavior (e.g. seizure of airports, seizure of government buildings, beating and intimidation people trying to vote, etc.). The only serious red violence was in response to being shot at during the 2010 protests against the coup-installed government.
- Central World burned down
- Red Shirt mob attacks PM Abhisit's car - forgot about that already?
- violent disruption of ASEAN summit with destruction of property - forgot about that as well?
- public calls and encouragement to burn Bangkok down by Red Shirt leaders?
Seems there's a lot of convenient, selective forgetting....

I don't think englishoak cares much about facts, especially if they disprove his narrative. What sandpit have you had your head in ? There were plenty paid to come protest last year are you kidding ?
Money flow the other way around my ass lol
Are you asking me to prove a negative? How about supplying some links to payments made?
Donations made BY the protesters were widely reported, as were claims Suthep was stealing them. Until you can prove payments TO the protesters exceeded donations, the direction of flow is obvious, whether you laugh like an ass or not.
Example: "Please, I dont care about either divide so im not going to waste my time trying to prove to you protesters were paid to attend but it was reported widely enough by many including people here"
He's redefining 'unsubstantiated' through the "it's widely known" argumentative fallacy.

Until then dont talk to me, you dont have the breeding im afraid.
"Breeding" ?? "son" ??- kinda cute coming from someone that struggles with the English language like you do. (Hint: apostrophes are a good idea. So is sentence structure).

I'm sure Sondhi appreciates the route to better democracy amidst the hail of bullets.
Remember this:

Was this part of the road to better democracy?

When they throw grenades into crowds of demonstrators and kill innocent civilians - how does that lead to better democracy?
Ms Yingluck will defend herself against the impeachment bid

Exactly - it's funny how the apologists always hide behind the "it can't be discussed here" excuse, to cover up their inability to actually support their position. ;-)
