It's great, but actually only get 4% now. I can use it for most things. Just paid for 4 DTAC phone bills getting 100 baht back. I am thinking of upgrading to get a higher percentage.

Another good thing, the CRO I bought and staked(at 20% pa) has increased by 50% ????

yeah 180days is a decent time not to mess with what you have staked and give the markets time to grow if u look past the daily ups&downs. However 400'000 usd 'buy-in' is too heavy for me, i will settle for one of the lesser ones, thanks for your quick reply!

  2. Unfortunately the FDA here can only do so much but I'm wondering why they announced in the first place. the list of hazard chemicals could be ongoing but the fact remains the same that in todays world, we accept that our food gets dunked in all kinds of chemicals helping to preserve food. We know that all snack foods are either loaded with salt or sugar, which too much of any is bad enough to trigger an onset of any kind of diseases and illneses.

Here as well as in the USA or Europe you can get all kinds of pesticides to spray on your crop and well, if you overuse then itll contaminate of course. The reason a farmer would overuse is to make his ends meet as his sole intention would be to get the most yielding crop possible by ensuring that no bugs will attack and other sprays ie. hormones to boost growth and richness. I'm not sure if the growers and manufacturers are unaware, stupid, ignorant or plain greedy.

I saw an article a few months back mentioning something along the lines that the EU has currently 400 food-related chemicals approved and running...I can't cite the source but I'm sure you folks can google it up. Its not a crime to be handling these substances it's just hard for the general public know about the inside industry which is rather grim to be honest.

  3. Dear Dan,

I had never even heard the term sexpat until reading your article. Perhaps you need to look in your own backyard before so haphazardly throwing stones at others.

HA that is so funny...the term has been around since the 80s at least. My son is in highschool and he knows what or who we're talking about when we drop that word. NO shame in being a sexpat I suppose, as long as you know how to dress up decently in public, that's all I'm asking for!!

  4. I don't get what the fuss is all about.

Some people come here for sex and some come to retire and live like they would in their home country but with better weather and infinatly better eye candy.

I read the article twice and all I get from it was a statement of the obvious.

yeah..I dont get why some people must have been really offended, as if your THAIVISA account would name so much of your status or even your name for ***sake!!! Nobody here would even dare mentioning their twitter or facebook username in fear or exposed identity. Furthermore, I found the article quite amusing. Of course you see those people once in a while and there is no harm in it. It's disgusting at times, but I've seen worse in the States, Germany, France etc..

    Generalization is a treacherous thing..

  5. You will be thrown away from this country and your dirty behavior too!!! We don't need you to make dirty our country Sexpat !!!

มะม่วงครับ, ใจเย็นๆๆ...don't forget who set up comfort zones during Vietnam...our dear politicians did back in 70s na, why do you think we have this big industry 40years later?

If you put candy in front of kid and say NO...is that nice?? As long as we have those sexy ass smack funny bars around

there will be people going inside them. And dirty behavior is everywhere, we have some classic examples well...everywhere!

  6. Its funny how just about everyone on here chooses to be in Thailand, and most of them could easily go back to their own country or a number of other countries. But all they want to do is complain and moan and jump all over everything and everyone in Thailand. Geez, if you hate it so much...LEAVE! It is an entirely different culture, with different values, and the corruption is out in the open (as opposed to the countries where you come from, where the corruption is probably worse, but since it behind closed doors, no one seems to notice or care).

It would seem fairly obvious to anyone paying attention in the world that two high level drug gang members trekking through a remote area of the golden triangle are probably not after a picture of a temple or a monkey. And a 'tour guide' who is not only armed, but capable to taking down an armed Yakuza member is probably not the kind of guy who hangs around the airport in a tuk tuk. Sorry, but I have a hard time believing the 'tourist' was a really a victim of a psychotic tour guide with no patience and an itchy trigger finger. Regardless of if it was a hit, or just a reaction to a very heated situation with someone who was also armed, and may well have killed numerous people in his life for no good reason. Gang/mafia leaders are not well regarded for their patience and understanding when things don't go their way.

THANK YOU!!! I rarely log in to put my few cents to the story because after reading some non-sense comments from farangs (or should I say foreigners?) I just don't see a point in trying anymore. I agree with you 100% and the funniest thing is you can bet on every news bit to have at least 2 comments saying "oh well here's a toast to thai tourism" or "another blow to thailands tourist sector" bla bla bla....you forget that crime in the kingdom has been going on for more than just the past few years or decades and you still see tourists coming and even yourselves!

IF these people could only reflect and see what happens in their (respective?) country whether it be political backdoor dealings, "lobbying" or the downright criminal crap some teenagers today in Europe can produce, is worry-some but same as here, we live with it and then there are people brave enough trying to make a change for the better. Bitching about the country you happen to reside isn't going to get you any friends nor will it gain you any benefits for the most part at least....as for the "Guide" if seeking police custody as a safe refuge from the Jakuza, then his boss better get him out soon or it's on!!

Whatever the kill might be, Im guessing it's drug related and if you remember the Thaksin days when he started the drug wars because his son was a cokehead with bunch of pictures to prove it. It was all over the news. So by gunning down thousands of slum dealers who are just tying to feed their families Thaksin successfully became a hero for it. When Amnesty Intl and UN human rights were on him for the 1000's of executions of untried dealers Thaksin simply said "UN is not my father" ...well anyone above this drug ladder was unharmed of course. Consequently the drug price went up on ya ba and other pills. Making some nice extra cash along the way for all but the dead. I'm sure Thaksin himself had made a sweet deal cashing in from the drug labs along the thai burmese border.

  7. www.Choco-schmidt.com - they got glutenfree muffin mixes and bread too I assume..

    German Quality!!

I looked at their web site, and reviewed the product list they have online for baking products. I see nothing on their PDF list that shows anything about gluten-free baking products being available there.

Do you have some experience with gluten-free products from them, or are you just guessing?

Sorry for the late reply...didnt check for updates or anything...

Yeah I have bought gluten free mixes there before...noticed some leaflets around the Flour shelf whilst getting the repacked 1kg bags of "Dinkelberger" Mix

I'm not allergic myself, but eitherway..they have GlutenFree Muffin Mix and Gluten Free Baguette Mix..

    Hope this helps..

  8. ...it's pathetic to read comments from some particular expats who just go ahead and assume things have to be the same way as they are in your home country..usually this wise ass attitude is the reason why locals seem to mistrust you...and then you go ahead and blame them for not being friendly or whatever reasons.

wouldnt you get arrested in europe for doing drugs illegally in a hotel room?? And you know that Asia is harsher than spoiled europe when it comes to drug penalties. You may get a slap on the wrist in the UK or France for smoking a joint but here you got to pay....frankly. Who would rather have a record on paper, than paying a little bit to forget about it and learn from it to be smarter the next time you do it.

As for how those cops knew. Sheesh...people talk!! Especially when you bring back a thai girl and its three whiteys next to her. People will talk and probably tip the coppers.....they see their opportunity to enforce the law (or make money) if you don't or can't pay, it will be in the news and a little plus on the record for the coppers. IF you can pay, you go home free without any noise...I gotta say its a fair game no???

My advice is to behave like you were back home...respective and smart. Thinking you can be all laid back just because its a sabai country will get you into some mess in the first place. Wanna do crystal meth?? do it alone or with a friend, smoke a jay? Do it privately and light up incense or some stuff...

DO we halfies have to teach you everything on how things work over here?

ps. sisaketmike is probably right, the "hooker" probably did tell the receptionist to call the cops coz she didnt wanna get gangbanged by 3 hairy italians. And thus, might get a thou or two for sorting this out. ...again, IF the farangs paid......money talks, everywhere....

  9. yadiyadiyadidaa...it took a while to start phishing over here...Isn't it common practice in Europe??

And banks have to send you notification letters of how to prevent and be aware of hacking, phishing and all those cyber-criminal activities. (In germany they do at least!)

Who: 2 russians and a thai

Where: Chonburi & Bang Lamung and probably other places too..

Why: to get rich quick (duh)

How: Through wiring money from stolen or hacked account transferring it to other accounts or withdrawing

When: all this time until they got busted

    What: ...what? MONEY

and yes, the basic questions are being asked and bangkok post as well as the thai newspaper cover them...if you want real information. I suggest you start learning the national language and then u can understand everything and dont need to resort to blaming others. Reading news via Thai visa may be ok but its not excellent....everything needs to be brief and done quickly, no wonder why half the information goes wasted.

  10. uhm....what does all this have to do with tourism? Thanks to this forum where everything that seems to deal with expats and farangs is in the spotlight, of course all your opinions will be negative...besides, you wouldnt even care for good news..but when bad news arise, all hel_l breaks lose. (To all Realist's in here, don't mind my comment)

I'm sure that expats living in the Philippines, Brazil, Mexico and other parts of the world deal with the exact same thing. The unfortunate politcal mess just puts Thailand in a bad light. And sure...it does not matter if politics and crime are being put in the same box because if you really wanna bitch about something you'll become unreasonable.

As for Thailand being one of the most dangerous countries of the world...just surf the web for Forbes List or others..and you'll see that Thailand is either not on the list or very far down... Try Jamaica, Venezuela, South Africa or even Russia for danger!

Now to speculations, mine is also the Legionellosis. The symptoms are matching to the descriptions given in all reports. I guess the cheap Bungalow Resort they stayed at didn't want to spend money in maintenance and thus, creating perfect environment for bacterias and such. As for the innocent deaths of these travelers, I too give my condolences to the victims.

I hope this is enough reasons for Thai Gov. to enforce stricter Maintenance Regulations. As for all the insecure travellers out there...You should rather spend a buck more on higher * hotels...they DO maintenance and quality is obviously better.

  11. 555!!! Priceless.....I I I koo-koo!!

...maybe we will...collect all your comments and make a koo-koo version. :o c'mon get some humor. Being able to laugh at EVERYTHING is the best humor. not being a particular bob!

  12. if you ask me...Brits Canadians Germans French are far worse than Thais...where else do you beat each other up for fun. grab chicks on their asses and walk drunkenly on the streets, yelling out national anthems? (brits and binge-drinking)...does that sound like its paced?

Haven't seen that barbaric attitude in Thailand..on that level. And yes, alcoholics are everywhere...don't tell me your country hasn't got any. They even got the audacity to beg for their alc.money..

    peace
