That’s interesting, I consider myself an expert having been on retirement for 17 years but I have always found it a hassle, probably because I expected it to be. At times I have gone late am and sat through the lunch break effectively written-off the day. I need the extension followed by the re-entry. I booked renewal at 1400 last Friday but didn’t book the extension. I got in early at 1330 and was in a traffic jam by 1515 so I guess that isn’t bad. What does this plan sound like for next year. Mid week booking 1300 for ext. 1415 for re-entry. Arrive 15 mins before for bank letter. The advertised, (guaranteed times?)for each process are 1 hour and 40 minutes. I hope that the world doesn’t close down again so that I can try this out.

พยาบาล as a verb means to look after sick people. พยาบาล is also a noun; a person who looks after sick people. When I arrived at my SHA+ hotel last evening I was anxious to be tested in order to minimise my stay. Other posts had talked of being taken to a hospital so when the procedure was being explained, I thought that I heard โรงพยาบาล when told that tests were being done between 0800 and 1800. Next morning when I enquired, reception could manage only “Over there” pointing towards the entrance so I exited the hotel! Finding no transport, I returned and asked for an explanation of “Over there” and found that off to the side there were reception desks where, had I arrived between the appointed times, I would have been tested. So to the language aspect of this post. I thought that had heard โรงพยาบาล rather than นางพยาบาล but now think it more likely that only พยาบาล was said. Thais tell me that I speak ชัด, well, if I do, it is because I need to be understood. When speaking English to Thais I also try to adapt my speech to fit their ability to understand me I wish that Thais could slow down snd include more details in order that I might understand them. การตรวจไม่ใช่ตอนนี้ครับ พรุ่งนี้เช้าจะมีพยาบาลนั่งอยู่ที่โต๊นี้ทำ That is perhaps not what they might say but I will learn nothing if they don’t speak slowly and add more in Thai or I will know nothing if they don’t speak more slowly and say more in English. I am doing my “bit” here.

My understanding is that proof of a negative RT-PCR test is necessary before your flight, this is an airline requirement. Transiting through Dubai I think that it was looked at but even with the extra four hours provided by the time zone mine was out of time.

I have sent three applications so each with what I thought better information and had two rejections, the first for insurance, and the second for insurance and record of vaccinations. I expect a third rejection because it is apparent that no record is kept of previous registrations and working like a one arm paper hanger between iPhone and iPad things have obviously been omitted. I have everything required but there is no means of contacting Immigration and supplying extra information because the four phone lines and the email account are blocked, probably because of heavy traffic. . Ten days at 4000 per day for quarantine. About the same as the airticket. Thailand wants you to have cover for 50,000THB so if you can afford the quarantine any policy from U.K. which covers Wuflu will be more than enough

I feel the same way. Application under review. Email sent automatic reply. Phone lines not taking calls, Sat 1500 GMT Friend in Thailand tried to call, all lines busy messages full. I discovered that my NHS app has a QR code which probably explains the delay. After thirty minutes listening to "thank you for your patience" and musak I ordered a QR code by snail mail from the NHS, why the hell can't they use an email? I am going to do nothing more, if I don't get a reply from Immigration before I get the final PCR on Sunday I shall abandon the plan. I have already checked with the hotel they will refund those costs. The travel agent says that the insurance and air ticket will be lost, I will try for that but if it's as frustrating as the last week I am not sure that I will try too hard. I am very disappointed, in sixteen years of dealing with Immigration I have never had such a frustrating experience.

The problem maybe within your application method. An employee with Thai Airways told me that using a Windows programme is often required. The disparity in response times between individuals could be attributed to the use Smart devices compared with desktops.

I applied on 4th Dec. Had an acknowledgment and ref. 923847 Realised that photos of the vaccination card from the surgery were probably not good enough so applied again on 7th with NHS record of vaccinations. The acknowledgement number was 943671 . That would suggest almost 20,000 applications in three days! difficult to believe considering the procedure. Yesterday 8th, I helped a friend by phone to apply, he was confused and working on the E-visa site for the pass! I checked with him today expecting to hear that he had successfully applied, only to hear that he had received the pass. I have read of other people getting the pass in seconds or same day which gives me cause for concern. I started to doubt the E-Mail acknowledging my application so checked the status; status is "under review". Have any other people had to wait so long?

Does anyone know of an insurance company that has no age limit on insurance?

I have just returned to the language forum and it seems to have changed, When opening topics I am able to see only the first post and the last post. I realise that this cannot be the situation so will somebody direct me on actions to take in order to see all replies to a topic? edit: Posted in error then because nothing has changed! I swear that when I opened a topic immediately after posting, first post and last post were the only options but when I opened another topic everything was normal!

Thanks for the replies. I must admit that I thought that everything had changed so was ready to not find what I wanted. My re-entry permit expired on 30th Jan because Wuflu prevented my return. The website would not allow me to create an account so I have emailed the embassy, I shall probably send a letter snail-mail later. I am curios to know whether Immigration was open on 30 January this year so that I could have got a further one year stamp had I not left.

I am trying to get a non Imm O visa for Thailand but the embassy website in London no longer offer this visa for retirement. Has the retirement provision been discontinued? This is a problem because my extension lapsed due to the closure, has anyone any ideas. I will be trying to contact the embassy later.
