1. Try googling "Pattaya Driving ranges" Most ranges have lessons available

Diana Driving Range - Teaching Pro - David from Newcastle

Diana Garden Resort, 209/ 112 Moo 6, Pattaya Nua Road - North Pattaya, Thailand

    Tel: 038-415-212

Green Way Driving Range - Thai guy teaching pro - don't know his name

Sukhumvit Road, Jomtien, Thailand (roughly opposite Tesco Lotus in South Pattaya

    Tel: 038-232-083

Harold's Golf Driving Range - Used to be down on Thepprasit - now moved out down the Siam Country Club Road, about half way, on the way to Siam GC from the Suk. Harold can still be found there

Pattaya Driving Range -Teaching Pro - Mike McLaren from Scotland (use to do a block of 6 half hour lessons for about 3 ~3500 THB). Theres also a Thai guy gives lessons here (probably at a cheaper rate) - seems to know his golf.

3rd Road, Pattaya (between Pattaya Klang and Pattaya Nua on the left coming from Pattaya Klang) Tel: 038-370-462/3

Also just behind the Pattaya Driving range is the Pattaya Sports Club office - you could probably get some advice (&discounts) there.

Pride Driving Range - This use to be sort of Korean but has now been bought out and turned into a golf resort. I've been told the practice facilities have been upgraded, including greens and bunkers - don't know who the pro is.

Sukhumvit Road, Pattaya (opposite Pattaya Klang intersection)

what I want to know is how AltumAngel is a newbie, she has been on thaivisa for a long time???????????????
That's what occupied my thoughts more than the standard AA quality joke.

I reckon it's a "mod" conspiracy to keep her out of .......... sshhhhh ...... you know where !

  3. The "Pattaya Driving Range" on third road at the north Pattaya end can be convenient but not that good. "Diana Driving Range" has just recently re-opened - looks like new "clubhouse" and mats etc but the range itself is still in very poor condition - maybe this will change after a bit of rain ? Best of the bunch within Pattaya at the moment (non - golf course that is!)

Harolds driving range - down the Siam Country Club Road for extra long drives (very little grass, hard ground) and some odd greens to aim at. Mats are a bit old.

The old "Green Way" driving range down the Sukhumvit past Lotus, still green but the nets are in some serious need of repair. Nice practice green/ practice bunker area off to the side.

The "Korean" driving range opposite the top of central road on the Suk. - never been to it - no comment.

Phoenix Golf course - good but they won't let you practice off the grass.

as above Siam CC and Plantation GC both good.

  5. I am surprised there is not a system in place to make it easier for foreign women to sue these dead beat fathers. It would seem rather simple, get a copy of his passport along with the child's birth certificate, take it to the embassy and fill out a claim for lack of child support. I don't understand why they should be having to lie about wanting financial compensation. These guys need to be taking responsibility for fathering the child, although obviously, one would expect that the mothers in question are of questionable morals. What a terrible situation. I think it was Guesthouse who suggested its often worst of the West meets worst of the East here in Thailand.

Yawn, werent you banned Mr Soprano?

Maybe after the authorities have put in place a system that allows the local women to claim on the local fathers for financial assistance they will introduce one for farang fathers.

As for these guys needing to take responsibility, who says its their child?

I know of at least one mug being taken for a ride for at least 3 children that arent his.

Is the fathers name even on the birth certificate?

Dream on, it takes two to tango.

Education is whats needed, but as long as little Lek is brought up to believe all farangs are rich and gullible the song remains the same.

It is the duty of every father to take responsibility for their actions, whether foreign or otherwise. A lot of posters are coming down on the farang bashing side, but this happens a hel_l of a lot more often with inter Thai relationships, whereby Thai men do not want to or cannot shoulder their responsibility.

Any wild estimates for single mothers in Thailand ???

Start by counting most of the girls in the "entertainment industry"

Decent Sex Education would be a good starting point !

    :)

  6. I have heard a rumour, without any real substance, that due to local (minor, second level) elections this weekend there may be bar closures once again.

However, none of the bars I frequent have yet received any police notifications.

Hopefully this will not happen, but has anybody else heard anything ?

    :o

  7. We also got our dog from a breeder in Bang Na. Great dog although be warned that during her first year when bored she would chew anything in sight!! Lost the front of a Honda Jazz one night...... As soon as she turned 1 no more chewing issues. Great family dog during the day and great guard dog during the night.

    From Khun Noy ?

I agree with everything you say! our pair are brilliant. Also including the Honda Jazz ! - Lost the plastic mudguards to the young lady and the plastic trim off the front spoiler.

Do you think this could be a breeding trait i.e. somebody has something against the Jazz! :o

  8. I have mentioned in an earlier thread, if you have dogs of both sexes to avoid any problems with the female cycle, give the bitch chlorophyll tablets or pastels in her food they are a natural leaf extract which neutralises that glorious odour that drives the male wild ..............,

Do you know if these are readily available in Thailand ? I will ask our vet to see if she knows.

If so.................. it's an exceedingly good tip

    thanks :o

  9. TRD = Thai Ridgeback Dog.

Things seem to be calming down a bit, we can put them back together during the day now as long as they are supervised. Still separate them at night.

She's been up to the vet's and everything appears to be OK.

We will probably try to breed in the next heat

Thanks for the advice, I was getting worried that he was getting over stresssed, but as I say things are calmer now and he's nearly back to his happy self

    cheers

  10. Recently purchased Ping G10 irons with bag 3~PW 36kTHB , Ping Bag 6kTHB, Two Ping tour wedges at just under 5K each.

Purchased from the Ping "custom fit" shop in Pattaya.

Green dot heads, Stiff shafts (Imported from USA - stiffer than Asian made stiff shafts), yellow dot grips (imported from USA)(big hands!)

A tad expensive but comparatively the same with UK / USA prices at the time, checked via internet.

    I like them !

  11. Please pe patient with the following saga ......................A Love Story !! (woof, woof!)

I need a bit of "experienced" advice if possible.

I am the proud owner of two TRD's. Dog is now about 14 months old and the little lady about 10 months. We are first time dog owners so still busy climbing up the learning curve !

Both dogs are still in full posession of all of their "equipment". We decided not to have any operations just yet as we may breed in the future.

She gave her first indications of entering the heat cycle about two months ago (her first obviously)with some infrequent light coloured discharge. We were then thinking of about a two week menstruation period followed by about a two week "peak" mating period.

We were proven wrong ! About 1 month after seeing the first light discharge, she then had a "full blooded" discharge. So we reset the clocks and started counting again.

This has now continued for about 1 month, until this week the discharge has stopped and the dog (as well as all others in the neighborhood) knows it is now his time.

We are keeping them seperated as we do not want to breed on the first cycle.

I have been told by the vet that this "mating period" may last up to about another three weeks. (something to do with the first egg coming down followed by the second?)

The main problem is the dog is going absolutley bonkers! We have a large garden surrounding the house / garage with gates designed to isolate different areas so keeping them apart is not a problem. But he can still smell her and cries and howls around the clock to try to get to her. He also doesn't want to go out for walks, as he is so impatient to get back to the "action".

    The questions are .............

    - how long is she likely to remain in the "danger period"

    - is he likely to calm down or am I going to keep them separated for a further three weeks ?

Initially we could let them run together as long as they were supervised, but now it takes approximately 3 milliseconds before he tries to get up and going. Also my leg is getting sore !!! :D

    Any advice welcomed

    :o

  12. Live Thing, You Do Not Make My Heart Sing, (apologies to Lou Reed)

lou reed ?? i thought jimi hendrix wrote that song.

    Completely off topic (ish)

    but ...........

"Wild Thing" is a hit song written by New York-born songwriter Chip Taylor and originally recorded by The Wild Ones in 1965

..........The song is probably best known for its 1966 cover by the English band The Troggs, which

reached the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 in July 1966.The song has remained popular ever since The Troggs' hit single, and has been covered again many times — perhaps most notably by Jimi Hendrix, whose stage performance of the song was featured in the 1967 documentary Monterey Pop.

and ..................... No Lou Reed !

    ............. I'll get my coat :o

  13. Maybe a stupid suggestion, but are your valves set correctly? or maybe a fault with your multiport valve??

And you might want to state your location if you want a referal......

Checked, double checked, waggled all the valves - all appear OK

Considering possible fault on multiport seal!

    Location......... whoops .............. Pattaya -Naklua

Try this; put the rotary valve in the filter to recirc(ulate) if the level in the pump basket returns to normal you probably have a blockage in the filter or return pipe. If it does not return to normal you have a problem on the suction end of things.

Never used the re-circ port. Can try this later

Check all the baskets are empty (including the pump) of leaves and gunk.

    Done ! All Clear !

Make sure the lid on the pump seals, make sure you do not over tighten it, this just makes it hard to remove or breaks something. A light grease with a silicon lubricant will help the seal.

Good point - will have to check and probably add grease.

Check there is nothing blocking the pump impellor. Turnoff pump, remove basket and feel through the hole behind the basket to the impellor, it should not be full of leaves and gunk, it also should not wobble around. If the motor is turned manually you would feel the thing turn. These are pump problems.

    Another good point. Will check

Is there water under the pump? If everything is normal there should not be water under the pump, unless you have spashed some water around. This indicates there is a leak in the pump housing (or the pipes near by).

No sign of leaks from pump/multiport/pipe joints or anywhere else.

If that is all fine, you may have something in the suction pipe.

Suspect this to be the likely culprit. I get too many air bubble in the pool inlet and only about 0.2 barg on the filter. Suspect suction has blocked and pump is sucking in a small quantity of air from basket filter seal.

I'm at work at the moment but there is another pool guy suppose to be coming at 9.00am. Will post again if I get a result

thanks for the input so far :o

  14. Any pool guru's out there got any advice ?

I've had my pool up and running for about two years now. After the initial teething troubles it's been running perfectly and kept clean by "the pool guy" three times a week.

Just this last couple of days we have what appears to be our first failure. :o

It's an overflow system and I noticed last night the pool level was falling slightly. Upon checking the pump room

    - The pump was running (on it's timer), but did not sound normal i.e. it sounded a little "overspeed"

    - Water was moving in the pump basket filter

    - The pressure gauge on the sand filter was low, beneath the green "normal operating pressure"

    - Water was not entering the pool!

    I tried

    - a backwash ; seemed to change the water flow in the filter ??

    - rinse & then filter; still no water entering the pool

    - Checked overflow tank level; healthy; no apparent problem

Suspected pump may have some kind of failure, and is not priming and delivering the right amount of pressure?

    Further tried

    - pump to waste; heard water going doen the drain i.e. pump is delivering some / partial pressure?

..................... then gave up and went for a cold one!

I talked to the "pool guy" this morning; bearing in mind he is only a pool cleaner and he said he wasn't getting any pressure on the vacuum hose yesterday either.

So ............. I probably need to contact a pool maintenance shop. Any suggestions as to what might have failed and any suggestion which shop to use, without paying an arm and a leg

    :D

    cheers :D
