  1. suffered similar problems in Pattaya, where the residential spacing should be 2m.

Visited city hall, asked the buildings inspector to pay a visit.

long story short ...... demolition order issued, neighbour unhappy, compromise reached, neighbour happier, order cancelled. Continuing frosty relations with neighbour.

Try the "city hall" route ....... but beware it could get nasty.

Also a big no-no is the roof too close to the dividing wall. If water from the neighbours roof runs off onto your property it must br remedied.

I would try to talk to the neighbour to try to reach the "compromise" first

    good luck ! :o

  2. I always use "haiter" brand and find it effective for most things. The largest problem was back in the early days when asking for it in small shops.

    Something like ........

    ..... Bleach mee mai?

    ...... mai mee khrap !

    ........ Chlorine mee mai ?

    ....... mai mee khrap!

........ Ahhhh, jam dai leow ! haiter (English pronunciation) mee mai ?

    ........ mai mee khrap !

    thinking .......... Borrox !

wait ..... spots something on shelf ....

    ...... a noon mee arai ?

    ....... ahhhh ..... Hai - tuur !

always remember the Isaan tuur , duur ....... kan -e- dur

    :o

  3. Thai Garden resort on Pattaya Nua has a three or four lane (roped lanes) lap pool under cover, in addition to their garden "kidney" pool. I'm sure for a small fee they let you in.

I think it may only be 25m however !

If you want an olympic sized open air pool try to get down to Ambassadour City - may need a car to do this, unless your also a tri-athlete :o

    sploosh !

  4. Why you should make sure you think before you speak ...

The priest in a small Irish village loved his chickens that he kept in the coop behind the church.

One Sunday morning before mass, he went to feed the birds and discovered that the cock was missing.

He knew about the cock fights in the village, so he decided to question his parishioners in church.

During mass, he asked his congregation, 'Has anybody got a cock?'

    All the men stood up.

'No, no, that wasn't what I meant. Has anybody seen a cock?'

    All the women stood up.

'No, no, that wasn't what I meant either. Has anybody seen a cock that doesn't belong to them?'

Half the women stood up ! no no, no, that wasn't what I meant. What I really really mean is, ...........

    has anybody seen MY cock?'

Sixteen altar boys, two priests and a goat stood up

  5. A little help from those in the know , if possible please.

I have a small strip of public land outside of my house wall, running along the Soi. approx 1m wide by 25m long.

I've put a sprinkler system in and planted some "pakpuangthong" (sp?) and some "bird". The basic plan is to grow some "hardy, self sufficient plants" to add a bit of colour etc. As this is in the public domain with a fair chance that a truck may drive over them or somebody might steal them, but hey ho ! give it a go !

I've just added some "hoy klaeng ?????" - a small spikey purple and green, non flowering plant - I'm told these will survive well? they seem to be doing OK and growing quickly.

The problem at the moment is that my sprinkler system works well, too well in fact, and promotes the growth of wild grass. So I'm thinking of putting in a good low ground covering plant, I can best liken to a "ground ivy" that will grow out horizontally and stifle the growth of the grass. I'm thinking something like you see on the golf courses around lakes that grows low and has small yellow flowers. It would be nice to add a bit of colour!. Problem is I don't know the name of it and can't identify it easily in garden shops. Any ideas ?

As you will have guessed I'm not much of a horticulturist but if anybody has any good ideas and can give me a phoentic Thai spelling of such a plant I would be grateful.

    thanks

  6. I always though that was called Soi Yume !?!

    I agree !

"Ronson" liquid lighter fuel is available in Best Supermarket on the roundabout at Pattaya Nua and I believe they also sell flints

  7. only the cats have 4 legs .... ? what about the kittens ?? ..... and the girls are they normal girls ....... ? or tripods?

and as Irish says ....... how many hangers on on the bus ?

or if you want me to be sensible ...

    7 girls x 7 bags = 49 bags

    49 bags x 7 cats each = 343 cats

    343 cats x 4 legs each = 1372 cat legs

    343 cats x 7 kittens = 2401 kittens

    2401 kittens x 4 legs = 9604 kitten legs

    7 girls x 2 legs = 14 girls legs

    1372 cat legs + 9604 kitten legs + 14 girls legs = 10990 legs.

If there is also a driver there would be 10992 legs ++++++ other hangers on ?

edit: not including the legs of any of the seats or benches either. AND if it is in Thailand the driver was probably legless anyway!! :o
