  1. Thanks, I have a one year multiple entry marriage visa (non O) applied at the Thai embassy in SG. I submitted my bankdetails, marriage certs etc at that time. Now whats not clear is do I still need to go to the immigration office in BKK as you describe with all docs again (these are the same as I submitted in SG) to re apply or do I ony need to report my address.

Ok found my answer on the MFA page.  At the end of the 90-day stay , the foreigner must report to the immigration officer in his or her residence area and report again every 90 days during his or her stay in Thailand.  The foreigner may report to the police station if there is no immigration office in his or her residence area.

  3. Hi, I have a one year multiple entry visa based on Marriage (O) applied at the embassy in Singapore. On entry in Bangkok I got a three months stamp.

Q: do I still need to go to the immigration office in BKK to change it into a Marriage visa.

Q: do I need to leave Thailand and re enter after 90 days or can I report to the immigration office.

Q: next year when current visa expires can I reapply/extend for another year in Thailand or do I need to apply abroad.

    Thanks

  4. Execellent. For those who complain, no one asked you to start a 'business' in Thailand. Somehow foreigners stil think that Thai need them, think twice. Most Thai having university degrees are very well educated whether it is IT, economics etc and can work at any Multi National. For the small 'businesses' I think it is completely logic government helps to protect Thai interest.

  5. Well the thing is, international schools don't get subsidised therefore the pricces appear high. But here in Singapore and Japan as well the prices are even higher. These kind of things you need to consider when moving abroad with kids. Education is important so if local schools are no option and you can not afford the internation schools choose for the best in your home country.

  6. I actually don't get why someone have such a long overstay in the first place. A couple of days maybe weeks I can imaging but if you stay months or even longer than you visa allows you, either get a proper visa before entering or leave and sort it out first. If you want to live in Thailand and you qualify there is no problem. No good for the country to have too many low budget border runners.

  7. This is something that can be predicted. If you cause such a disruption you know this may happen. No matter how said. Sunthep could have been shot many times but he's still alive talking nonsense. So make you wonder... I also do not understand that the yellow criminals are allowed to block the election process, were are the watercanons, were is the riot police hitting them and putting them behind bars? The law has lost its total reliability and it is scary to realize you need to depend on those law enforcers. Total anergy,

  8. Still there is the chance of unifying the country. When the ptp loses it's voters due to the failed rice scheme there is room for another party to move in.

Whatever party that will be, it's leadership will have to treat all Thais equally and take them seriously. And not fall back into old elitarian behaviour as the people have experienced so often before.

Effectively fighting corruption will be the prime task for that new government.

If I may I would like to add the following from the article.

Waves of anti- and pro-government dissent, sometimes violent, form a rising tide of lawlessness centred in Bangkok regardless of ideology or principle. The many problems are almost certain to get worse before they get better.

Protesting is only lawless if the government passes laws to say it is. The lawful protests have been the cause of the lawlessness. It does not take much thinking to see where the lawlessness is coming from. Who has been talking about building up arms? Who has a record of using them against legal establishments. I won't name names so you people who were not here in 2010 will have to ask some one.

At the same time, sporadic violence in the southernmost provinces continues with no end in sight. While anybody in the wrong place at the wrong time can be attacked or killed, the cause of the violence remains largely unidentified.

It would be nice to see an honest attempt made at solving the deep south problem also. As it sits now people are dying on a regular base down there and there has been no attempt to solve the problem. the cause of the violence is well known. No matter how out of hand the violence in Bangkok can get it will not hold a candle to the death toll in the south.

It is almost as if the Nation and the Government have just excepted it and ignore it. Sending soldiers and holding peace talks with dissident groups who have nothing to do with the violence any more is not an answer. In fact sending more soldiers has just been supplying more people to be killed and a source of weapons for the extremist's.

Maybe best to leave Thailand for some time and come back when this has been put to rest for another 2 years. Singapore feels much more comfortable, watching what is happening to unfold from a distance.

  9. Please can the protesters take some loudspeakers away to the South too?

They were blaring away until past 1 am last night.

They shut down at around 20:00 in the moo baan where I live

Then terrorise the roosters at 04:00

Best if that Suthep would not see another day to spread his poisonous messages. It could easily escalate into a civil war if he pushes it too far. There is a moment that enough is enough for everyone.

  10. Will I join the Mob on Monday?... YES

    Am I afraid?..... NO

What if something happens?... "GREATER LOVE HATH NO MAN THAN HE LAY DOWN HIS LIFE FOR HIS FRIEND"

I love Thailand and support Thai people to have a fair chance, a free election and AN END TO CORRUPTION.

Block the roads, lock Bangkok, let Businesses loose lots of money and tourist drop for months to come, great move. Has nothing to do with love for Thailand and all that nonsense.

  11. Why anybody would want to live in Bangkok, is beyond me, but I guess enough people do.

All this, is great for tourism in the North. We get more and more people, in our bar, who stick around here, because they don't want to get caught in the Bangkok traffic jams, during this "Occupy Bangkok" time.

A lot of people, will be in the protest areas, others will leave town for a few days, to get away from it all, so I doubt, that traffic will be much worse, than it normally is, in Bangkok.

Because it's the only place in Thailand that's an international, almost "First World" city, where you can meet interesting people from all over the world who aren't just retired losers like in Issan or brainless beach bum drunks like in Phuket, you can buy anything, the cost of living is lower than any comparably developed city in the world, the interesting activities you can do are endless, shopping, nightlife and cultural events are incomparable to anywhere else in Thailand, and when you feel the need to get away for a while, you can fly very cheaply to anywhere in the world from the airport. Bangkok is a unique city in that it combines tremendous freedom, an "anything goes" attitude with excellent infrastructure, opportunities and endless entertainment possibilities, all available at a very low cost. Pollution is also nowhere near as bad as comparably sized cities in China, Malaysia, Indonesia, etc. There is simply nowhere else in the world like Bangkok, which is why so many people love it. I have travelled and lived all over Thailand, and now I'm content to stay in Bangkok. I no longer have any need or desire to go to overpriced, tacky Phuket, smoky boring Chiang Mai, sleazy dirty bottom-of-the-barrel Pattaya, dreary backward Issan or anywhere else for that matter. Bangkok is THE only place to live in Thailand for those who want to live an exciting, flexible, international lifestyle without necessarily spending a lot of money. I personally love Bangkok and couldn't imagine living anywhere else in Thailand!

I have lived in more Asian cities like Tokyo and currently Singapore and I can tell you that Bangkok have slipped rapidly. Initially it seems a nice world city but transport is a mess, it's polluted and not that cheap as people sometimes believe. Service and quality is quite average and let's not talk about subjects like crime and chaos and corruption. It can be fun for a night out or so but there are far better places in Thailand to stay and if you want to live the city life choose other Asian cities. Bangkok is loosing it's shine rapidly at least that is my opinion. But I agree that in Pataya you rather will not be seen at all.
