This really is a none event news story, that probably only got reported because it occurred at a “famed” Wat.

It seems that every time a car fire is reported, we get the pro and anti EV crowd wanting to turn the comments into the same again EV debate, and I admit I have been drawn into it, before, also.

This story is just really about a “testament to the swift and well-coordinated emergency response system in place”,  that prevented any further damage.

Thousands of vehicle fires occur all around the world, every day and yes all types of vehicles cars, trucks, motorcycles, buses, petrol, diesel, hybrid, EV, NGV and LPG are involved and the causes of fires are many, fuel leaks, poor maintenance, accidents, arson, hybrid and EV batteries, overheating catalytic converters, electrical system failures, overheating engines, etc.

I am from the UK, and there are on average 300 vehicle fires recorded a day, most do not warrant a news report.

In the UK, 300 per day out of 41,000,000 rides, and I guess most start via electricity, as most cars are not switched off even if the ignition is turned off....😋

13 times more likely to be an ICEV than an EV

139 times more likely to be an HEV than an EV.

Which means it could have been an EV, as they do catch on fire.....🤭

It is hilarious that 2 EV owners above (not hotchilli) have come on to protect their EV rides when EV's haven't been mentioned, plus, it doesn't look like an EV fire.................😂

It has been in the 40's in my garden....To hot to venture into for the first time ever.

All temperatures taken for records of air temperature are taken in the shade. Any temperature gauges that are recording temperatures in the sun will be affected by the sun's radiation and the temperature during that period will appear significantly hotter

I go by my electric shower, during this heatwave, it has not been turned on, because the water is coming out very warm, that is the first time in 17 years at this house........😋

The information so far is that the attack was mainly composed of drones, something that Iran is reputed to have 000's of thousands of. They are not difficult to launch - especially when you have days to prepare for it. The Iranian Consulate in Syria was attacked on 1 April, Tehran's attack on Israel was 2 weeks later.

Russia is trying to launch missiles in a completely different situation. Although Ukraine's capability is severely depleted, it still fires back.

    No, it wasn't mainly drones...........🤔

In fairness, the main reason the attack failed was because Iran had more or less stated what they were going to do - days beforehand. Israel has an effective missile defence system and its allies in the region have been on high alert for months with both US and UK naval vessels constantly monitoring the skies. However, even with that capablity, an unannounced attack would most likely have resulted in more damage.

Had the Iranian attack been spontaneous and done more damage, that would have most likely lead to an immediate and probably sustained response by Israel.  Iran may have hundreds of thousands of missiles but it does not have the sophisticated defence systems that the Isarelis have - they know very well that they can't defend themselves against such an attack.

Iran acted because in the eyes of its 'brothers', it had to be seen to respond to the attack on its Consulate in Syria. Whilst Israel have not admitted responsibility for that attack, it is widely speculated on as having carried it out.

The Iranian public are fed propaganda constantly and I doubt many will know that they could not stand up to a sustained attack by Israel.  As was seen in news footage following the strike on Israel, the capital was full of chest beating Iranian government loyalists who will, I have no doubt, been fed an entirely different story on the efficacy of their attack on Israel.

The Iranian attack appears to have been more symbolic than anything else.  If you tell a bank you're going to rob it, they'll put their security on high alert.

I would have thought the Western countries involved are continuously tracking the sky's for any eventuality, do you think they take anything Iran says seriously, no, the West will be doing its own thing.

Why send 300+, instead of say, 50 to make a point. The 300+ cost a lot of money, plus they told their "believers", it was a successful raid.........🤭

Iran has crossed the line countless times, but it's an election year, and at least until after the election, Biden is going tobe lot more concerned about the price of gasoline in the US than he is about the lives of few million Jews halfway around the World.

We will see, perhaps ol' Joe ain't that bothered about the election, probably had enough, anyhooooo....🤭

Yes, of course. But it still is abnormal for it to be blown so far out of proportion, even with it being a doctor, and should have been dealt with in the police station. Yeah, it would have been more expensive than usual, but the police could likely have persuaded her, but more than likely they were in fear of getting in trouble from some stupid, outsized ego, doctor. They had no balls to get it done, kowtowed to the doctor, and it became a nightmare. I'd be willing to place a wager that her ego is off the charts. The situation has become completely absurd.

It is not a nightmare for the aggrieved and her farangy partner....🤗

Any of us, in the Land of Smiles, should think first, before lashing out, especially a farangy with business interests...........

But as you participated in the discussion yesterday, you already know this is irrelevant. Consulates, embassies and any buildings on an embassy's or consulate's compound (an annex) are inviolable under international law.

Do consulates run as private enterprise, can they do what they like, hide/shield who they like. I don't know, but I am sure you will clarify for me......😉

As I said already in numerous posts, Iran is the head of a snake that sponsor, finance and facilitate world-wide

terrorism and OPENLY calls and acts for the inhalations and destruction of another country, something that unheard of

among civilised countries, and as such, they should be dealt severely and by full force, no punishment is too much

and just the US restrain Israel from using its ultimate weapons of judgement day that Israel is not using them...

Your first para, I find it strange that some here don't understand that.

But then again, it is probably that they don't want to understand it, because of their own personal agenda......:coffee1:
