  1. Please correct me if I'm wrong !

    Tonight(18th) its Arsenal/Chelsea at 11pm, Thai time ?

    Tommorrow(19th) its Man.Utd./Everton at 10pm,Thai time ?

I remember trying to watch the quarter finals in Udonthani......(grrrrrrr. !)....nobody showed it....even at Talad Bpee-Cha night market area !

Anybody know what's going on this weekend regarding these games ????.....Pleeeeeeeeeze !

  2. Sorry if this sounds a bit 'touristy'.....I will be in Ko Chang for a week(next week)and my girlfriend in Udon wants me to bring back some "hanging shell mobiles" (that you can hang in doorways etc).

Where would be the best place to look for these on the Island ?

Thanks in advance for anybody who takes the trouble to advise !

  3. Anybody know some good areas on Ko Chang, near beach, nightlife, bars not too far away?(I am a mature guy travelling alone, not sure whether to take a girlfriend or not....don't want to be a "Robinson Crusoe" !)..... where can you rent rooms at reasonable price(500 to 1000 baht ?).....

Evidently,White Sands Beach is popular(???) but the prices from Internet are in the Thaksin price range.

    Going early next month....

Thanks if you post back with some info.

  4. The "public" busses (actually private companies) to Ko Chang leave from the Eastern Bus Station (Ekamai) station on Sukhumvit. You will have to connect to a ferry to get to Ko Chang so you want to get an early bus. It takes about 4-5 hours to get to your transfer point from Bangkok.

Also, any travel agent Bangkok would likely have a Ko Chang package that included VIP bus, ferry transfer, and hotel packages all inclusive. Maybe would be the easiest way to do it for the first time.

    Thanks Jonniebkk.

  5. I am going to Koh Chang next week(first visit) and would like to know about busses available from Bkk.......trip takes how long, how much and from where, etc ?

Evidently Bkk. Airways has the only direct flight but at 3000 baht ,I consider it too expensive....after all, it will only cost 1,700 baht from Udon Thani to Bkk.

Any info would be very welcome.....also any recommendations of budget rooms/resorts/bungalows, not far from the beach at White sands beach.

Also would like to know about best nightlife/bars/restaurants.....

Hope to get a response from people that have been there and would be very grateful for any advice.

Thanks in anticipation and chok dee to everyone !

  6. Hi lopburi3,

Just seen your additional post concerning my confusion.re. Retirement ext.....THANKS very much for clearing that up,hopefully I should have no problem at Bkk. Imm. later this month as long as the Aust. Emb.give me a letter to confirm my income.....so much for the b.....t I was told at Nongkai Imm.They seem to be notorious at being difficult and unfriendly.....this is an understatement !You can check out how many falangs have had problems there by looking logging onto Udonmap.com forum.

I will post again, hopefully with good news and update everybody on the requirements I had to meet.

Thanks again Lopburi 3 and best wishes for the new year....to you and all !

  7. Attn. of Lopburi 3 please,

    Sorry Lopburi 3....forgot to cancel CAPS.(I was'nt shouting !)

I am so confused about this 65000 into thai sav. in the 3 months prior to applying. This came from Nongkai Immigration....actually,one guy told me it had to be 6 months !

However, last year I got through with the three months ,at Bkk. Imm. ..... now you tell me there's no requirement ?....Just the proof of earnings verified at Aust. Emb. ??If only I knew !

The reason I will show my Aust. Statements showing monthly income of $3.300 is so they can all see that this is well over their requirement even if I don't bring 65000 baht into my Thai acct every month.

Anyway, thanks for your help.(I hate Januarys and the yearly Immigration hassles and I'm sure I'm not Robinson Crusoe on this one !)

  8. You can only ask the officers at the office you will be using - the the rule is 3 months per below quote from National Police Order 606/2006:
    (4) Having the records of saving

money in the latest 3 months of

account book of any Bank in

    Thailand not less than 800,000

    Baht or

does the quote finish by saying....."or at least 65000 baht per month income OR a combination of the savings and income'.............?

I have got extensions 2 years running,in bkk. by producing:-

Australian bank statements for the year showing income of over 65000 baht.

A stat dec.(has to be a letter now ???) from Aust embassy,Bkk. to verify them..

My Thai bank book showing entries of 65000 baht (or more) for the 3 months PRIOR to applying for the yearly ext.

A letter from the thai bank where acct. is held.

    TM7 form withphoto.

    Is there anything else,please ? ...I apply again Jan.20th and getting jittery.....thanks.

Physical check up form(same as when you apply for thai D.L......no problem)

    Medical check up not needed.

    Thanks litebeer

LOPBURI 3......SORRY TO PUSH THE POINT.....DOES THE REST OF MY LIST OF REQUIREMENTS STILL GET ME THROUGH THE HOOP THIS YEAR OR HAVE THEY ADDED SOMETHING ?(I KNOW YOU'RE IN THE KNOW AND WOULD BE GRATEFUL IF YOU CAN PUT MY MIND AT REST )

  10. This is the time for applications to be accepted for PR (actually it has been open for some time this year) but have not seen any reports of a change in the requirements for income tax payments or that anyone here on a retirement extension of stay would be considered for approval (they have not in the recent past).

Thanks Lopburi3 and everyone else who helped to clarify things.I think we've all got the picture straight now,too good to be true, (as I suspected !)

  11. To everybody concerned or interested....

Please don't laugh but there is a serious rumour going around in the U.Thani/Karasin area regarding the yearly retirement ext.of the non. Imm. '0' class visa.

Evidently,if you've been granted the Non.imm '0' class visa continuously for the last 3 years, you can now apply for permanent residency and for the next few weeks,it will be granted a lot easier than normal.

I was given this info by a married scouse friend who is cheesed off because he hasn't been here long enough to be eligable.

I am not trying to wind anybody up,nor Trolling.....Myself and my Falang friends just want to know if any of the sensible, well informed senior members have heard about this?

Thanks in advance for any info.

  12. (Hope this is in the right place........I don't post much)

I have a 1 year retirement visa which I have renewed twice in BKK......renewal coming up again soon.

Previously my thai bankbook showed regular monthly income of 65,000baht per month(the min required).

I do not have the 800,000baht savings in my thai bank.

This year however,I have had heavy health/family expences in U.K and Australia so have been unable to put that amount in every month.

Immigration in Nongkai tell me,the bank book must show deposits of 65,000 baht for 6 months previous to my next renewal.Unfortunately,I will have only 3 months of the required income when I apply.I thought this was enough.

I have heard many different stories from expats and read many posts on this subject. Some Imm. offices want 6 mths, some 1 year, some 3 mths(as with the married visa if I'm correct). Some did'nt care as long as you show proof of income form your country and have it certified as true by a letter from your embassy(no problem there, can do ).

Alternatively, where and how can we find out the TRUTH about these annoying visa issues that have a lot of us cursing and worrying on a yearly basis? Where is the TOP Thai Immigration office?(BKK.?) and if I find out I'm ok. with the 3 months income, can I make the Nongkai power freaks accept it?

    Anybody had this experience ?

Can anybody tell me what the Thai law book actually states re.this ?

P.S......... Love Thailand but hate the inconsistency between offices and officers who all have a different version of the law and all too often it can depend on what mood they're in.They seem to enjoy freaking falangs out and very obviously only want our money, not us.......anybody agree ?(good job my T.W.is a REALLY jai dee Angel or I'd be long gone !)

  13. Just wondering if anyone has been there recently,(also Kep sounds interesting).

Am going to Koh Chang soon......thinking of a peep at Cambodia.....any advice much appreciated.

P.S.My Ist post awhile ago was only asking for info on another topic.I recieved some brainless ramblings about me being a Troll.....if you Pa-Trollers have any infantile comments on THIS genuine and polite request ,which is directed at the intelligent members, keep them to yourself....literally,where the sun don't shine.

Sorry,I'm new to this forum language(joined today....computer illiterate too....no time before I retired !)..............so........WHAT IS TROLLING ?(controlling?strolling?rolling ts?)

and why do I see so many "LOLs.".....can somebody write a book on this 'new' language !Forgive my ignorance,I'm sure I can't be alone in my ignorance..........or am I ?Never mind, your'e only as old as the woman you feel.....my wife is young and beautiful but I want to know if she's a Troller !!!!

Trolling is an Internet forum phenomenon, where someone makes a faux appeal for sympathy or attention. This can be done by asking provocative questions or appealling to people's vanities or sympathies.

Responses usually vary from hostility to empathy. But seldom last less than 7 whimsical pages of hot air in cyberspace / time you can never recover.... Hope this helps,... :D

Thanks,I'll try not to appear Trollish......can't reasonably see how my post was Trollish....if anybody took it that way,I pity them.....ask a question and your'e Trolling ??????????I'm amused indeed ! :D

It's obvious that you are appealling for people's sympathy ("Sorry, I'm new...", "computer illiterate", "no time...", "forgive my ignorance") therefore you are a troll. Hope this helps too. :D

    Have a nice day, it's fridaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy !

I'm not looking for anyones sympathy ,thanks.....I was just brought up to be polite.....unlike some people.....thanks for nothing :D

    Just retired,learning about computers !

I just did a download speedtest and noticed a product for sale on same page.

The download booster 5.0 is for sale at $9.95......seems cheap !

Has anybody bought this and are they worth it,do they work, etc .

Would appreciate some advice from Forum members and give thanks in anticipation.
