Vaccinated individuals are much less likely to be carriers, though certainly not impossible.

It is all a numbers game.

The passports also will have any test history, so "super spreaders" are less likely.

    No guarantees.

Keywords. Pandemic .  Sars and MERS never progressed to same status. Malaria , Dengue etc are endemic but avoidable.

Afraid of getting a jab? I don't get it. "A life lived in fear...?" What are you talking about?

If you don't get vaccinated, you're far more likely to get very sick and possibly die after infecting everyone around you with your nonsense. You don't want to live in fear of what? Multiple vaccination and having to wear a mask? How is that living in fear? You're doing what society has deemed the way to respond to a pandemic as determined by experts. Not what some idiot high school dropout wrote on the Internet, actual trained experts.

Or you can take horse dewormer. Thoughts and prayers.

Why do you sarcastically write "thoughts and prayers" ?  I mean , who does that?  I note that with your recycling of the tired  "horse dewormer" meme you out yourself as someone who wishes to continue to deny the effectiveness of early treatment. Why would you do that when it has benefitted so many?  Many vaccinated people are getting sick. Many experts disagree with the constant lockdowns. Characterising anyone who has an alternative viewpoint as a high-school dropout is silly, and demeans only yourself. In short, your post comes up short in many ways and is worthy only of contempt. You need to up your game.

The Indian variant certainly needs to be taken seriously. Transmission rate is much faster than Covid.01 and will spread like wild fire with poor controls in place to manage it. I'm not sure this mob are going to be up to it. Could be time to bunker down for the onslaught.   ????

nearly every doom-mongering prediction on here has not been realized, but I am not really surpised to see yet another one...

It was inevitable and oh so predictable.

There is no social distancing at all in Chonburi. Markets are crowded as normal with ridiculous amounts of people there. The market in Naklua was rammed with people last night and motorbikes lined up like sardines in a can.

I don't think the average Thai understands that going to these places is a health risk or maybe they don't care.

Oh well, we are about to witness a major crisis IMO.

another doom-monger....    why are people so fond of doom-mongering and hand-wringing?

I think he is suggesting many people die from the virus and as no mention of "large percentage" was made it seems you have misled yourself on this occasion and accused the poster of a misleading statement so perhaps a little chillout time is needed to re-read his post.

if someone says that many of the people who get the virus will die, this is misleading given the actual figures...  I am perfectly chilled out, thank you.

They will survive two weeks in a hotel. Unlike many of those who get the virus.

unlike many of those who get the virus?  are you suggesting that a large percentage of the people who get the virus actually end up dying?  are you aware of the actual death % in Thailand?   It's misleading statements like this that help generate so much controversy around the nature of C19.

  6. This is a very tough one.

I am not sure there is much you can do.

The only hope is that the Thais develop their awareness and adapt their social habits. Social behaviour here is generally very well-established and hard to change as you have probably noticed (I am not passing judgment here). Also, often the default tendency is to ignore anything that threatens the sabai of daily routine, especially if it might mean anything involving admitting a mistake/being inconvenienced etc. This probably sums up my own attitude too ;)

That said, there are some super Thais who are flexible and considerate enough to meet-up and find a mutually agreeable way forwards.

I have seen some positive moves in the last 10 years - the Thais have improved their driving; cycling is now considered ok and not a sign of low class; some are now even aware of where they talk on the their phone and how loud it is for others.

I can only emphasise with you and wish you good luck.
