  1. Just got my third shot, a Pfizer booster in the towns clinic.  They have put a sticker on that yellow Thailand Certificate of Covid 19 Vaccination, with the vaccine details and QR codes.

The nurse told me to go to the main hospital in the Amphur for a vaccination passport.

Do you need that for the Thai Pass or will the yellow certificate be acceptable.

Flying to UK via Dubai in August and apparently not required for UK entry.....???

Yes, DWP will pay to Thai banks, as it does for me.   Don't know about private pensions as private companies can make their own rules but I see no reason why not, banking is international these days.

Yes DWP will pay my state pension due this August into my Bangkok Bank account via Citi Bank. Still pondering if to take the 13 week option or every month. My military pension has been paid into my BKB account, via Citi Bank for many years.  Though this is strictly not a private pension (government service pension) which you pay UK income tax on if above your pers allowance.

    Q. Didn't CIti Bank sell off the Bangkok retail Branch to UOB, Singapore some months back....

  3. Who has one and are they any good......

Local Big C had a display showing the new 2.3L twin turbo.  It was a two door version with a 7 speed auto box, looked pretty meaty.

Wondering if they had gripped the quality control over here.  I run a new Navara King Cab for 3 years or so back in 07.  Used to shake, rattle a bit too much over the bad roads, swapped it for a Toyo Vigo, much better put together truck ... opinions will vary......

  4. Just received my statement via e-mail from my mobile banking app  and took only a couple of hours.

On the PC the details are fine but struggle to read all the info once printed out. Maybe need better reading glasses.....

Two things I noticed on the statement,  my military pension which has been paid into my savings account for many years now has BAHTNET 'under the particulars ' column and further along the same line GPSD.

Would that be an issue at immigration??? for the combined or income methods and could someone help with the GPSD abbreviation........ THX

  5. I must point out as far as SD is concerned I am a complete nooby.

Most of my breads so far are low hydration 63-70%.

All done.by hand mixing, shaping etc. I did splash out on a decent Dutch oven, but that's not essential.

Forget all this 'are international ones valid' talk - go and get a Thai driving licence now. If you have a licence from your home country and it is in English you can easily get a Thai one issued.

You are royally screwed if you get in an accident without a valid licence, no insurance and you will end up paying for everything.

What insurance?, if he has a scooter, probably just the por ror bor, third party CTPL.

  7. Built my place in 07 out here in the boonies of South Phetchabun. We had to go to Tessaban for some <deleted>, but the architect there drew up plans for us. Cost about 3500 Baht

Of course the builder had other ideas and just gave a cursory look over the plans. Again he was *family", so. No issue...

Tessaban did send some electrician bod to come around to check all was good.

This all in the heady days of 69 B to £1 and 3 red bricks for 1 Baht.

  8. Well here in the sweltering plains of Phetchabun province, ( a line from that scholarly masterpiece - 'Private Dancer',  its a cool 29c.

Normally our hottest month of the year is May, during which the annual rocket festival is held .

Firing off home made scuds into the sky to encourage the rains, which usually comes anyway.

    NB:

Bung Fai hasn't been held for the last 2 years, far too many folk, drinking, gambling and generally enjoying themselves....

Could it be that the torpedo use by date was about to expire and they decided to use it up before it blows up in their magazines?...

I was thinking that too. During my time in the world's smallest and finest Air Force we regularly used some very old ammunition on live firing camps.

On one the 1000lb- ers were older than me.

    Date of manufacture 1955......

Bet you could, but what's the rule in say Ban Chang. I'm talking rules not if they'll serve you. No BS far as I know. Still serving beers in cups and not bottles.

I was in Mai Phim just before Christmas. My favourite go to beach.

All places that serve up food was openly selling alcohol. Had a few while sat on my beach deckchair...

  11. I presume you mean Phetchabun City, as this is a big province. At the Army Barracks, Battle Horse yesterday we were all drinking merrily in the golf club house which serves food, so classed as a restaurant. Bottles and glasses on the tables, no problems.

In Wichian Buri Town there are three farang run bars, all now restaurants too.

Draught Leo in the one I drink in. As for timings,..

    Who knows...

  12. Vibhavadi Hospital in Chatuchak District. On Vibhavadi Rangsit Road has a good urologist. It's a private hospital but the Doc is a good bloke. Supports Liverpool and we spent some time talking about English footy. I cannot remember his name but they sorted me out. One of those mysterious infections from a liaison....
