  1. It's like the poor control of compression and bad gain structure of the audio on Thai TV it will go from quite a reasonable level of sound with a news program to a blasting promo and then on to a game show which is distorting the input preamps somewhere in the signal path, thank god they only muck it up in the analogue domain

  2. I dont mind the auto helmets too much, the only problem I have is mine only has a on button and it auto turns of after 5 min or so of non use, and I give mysefl an initail flash just to remind myself to turn it back on, I use it for both tig & mig but for som reason feel more comfortable using the manual flip type when I arc weld - no particular reason just my preferance

  3. Hi,

I am looking suggestions on accomadation around pratunam/Petchburi Road for under 800Baht per day in October for a couple. We have stayed at some overpriced tired & sad hotels (First House & Residence Rajtaevee) we like the area and use it as a base to visit family and shopping - any suggestions would be welcomed :o

  4. With all of the replys you seem to have all of the basses covered, the only thing I would add for this applicationis to do everything in Duplicate,a second original of all application forms and certified copies of all other doucuments and translations, if you are getting copies certified get 6 or more of each, we have certainly used a heap for all sorts of applications from Spouse Visa, Temp & Perm Resedent thru to drivers License,Citezenship and AUS Passport. Application files have been misplaced in the past and its good to have a back up.

The need for doucuments never seem to never cease and be prepared to continue gathering as much information on a continuing and genuine relationship.

Best of luck - was a long process 7 years ago, hope it has become a little more streamlined

  5. So was there any real rain to be had, in the lower northeastern areas - Surin, Sisaket & Ubon Ratchathani, its hard to get any real info

    Hi jbl.

  7. My 17 year old stepson came to visit us in Austrailia last year for a month, all he wanted to do was play online games - the only time hestopped was when we travelled to Sydney and visited family, he was online till 4 or 5am most nights had to curtail it in the end but he was even online till the moment we had to leave for the airport. This is not just a problem in thailand but antisocial problem in many countries

  8. i love vegemite and thankfully have a stock of it.

but i would love a Golden Crumpet right now. I know you can get them in melbourne, but not sure about other states in australia. Mmmmmm.....Golden Crumpets.......

On sale last week@ Coles 2 for 1 price - would be stale by the time they got there in the mail

  9. The question is will it keep climbing?

As we comming to LOS in Sept,

we generally transfer AUS$ to my wifes BoB account and get the slightly better exchange rate

For awhile we carried cash from Australia and deposited it apon arrival but never felt comfortable carrying heaps of cash

I did find that the Bank of Bangkok had better exchange rates in the city branches than @ the airport

  10. Even if I ever do live there it will be close enough to a supermarket to buy farang food.

Good luck to anyone that can live on that stuff up there.

    Dont forget the worm pills.

I do draw the lines at some of the fish dishes but I dont see anything as being unhygienic and needing pills for worms, the only time that I have been realy sick from the food was in a western

    style upmarket joint in Bangkok

  11. Sounds like our menu both in AUS and in LOS, I have been rice almost every day for 7 years now and dont really feel like I had a full meal with out it.

I must admit its taken a long time for my wife to learn about great wine, chesse & bread but she now has a good idea what is good and what is great

  12. Welcome, I am only new to this forum but have been married to a Thai lady now for 8 years and its been the best time of my life, yes there are horror stories but I know lots of very happy couples.

Spend lots of time reading thru the forum as there is a huge amount of very usefull information, funny stories and lots of other peoples experiances to learn from. If you feel the topic isnt what you want posted in public feel free to PM me - I might be able to help

  13. I find i drink less when im Home in Issan.

    Doesnt help having a drunk as a brother-in-law :o

But as a rule no drink allowed in or near the house because of this pxxxk.

I am in a similar situation, but I will only drink @ home in Issan after 4pm, only beer and no more than 2 bottles of Chang. The Brother in Law only works to drink and I have never seen him buy food. When we are away from the home town I cant help but be suckered in by the cold bottles of Chang in every shop & 7/11. I have got to say I do love a coke from a glass bottle; it's only become available here in AUS recently and in small quantities
