Some of these vip buses charge 700 or 800 baht and take 10 to 12 hours versus 1200 baht for a plane ticket.

That all depends. I took a trip on one of these VIP buses to enjoy a bit of the scenery vs getting there in 1 hour & seeing nothing but a seat in front of me.

I would travel by VIP bus again vs taking a plane.

    Just saying.....

Actually getting a doctors eye exam/prescription and having them check the supplied glasses should be done - if not very close to being the same expect that information can be presented to store and some consideration might be provided.

Agree, but as OP mentioned, they seem to be trying to avoid the situation & hope OP goes away.

I guess with some evidence, he may stand a better chance of at least getting a new pair made. Wouldn't hold out much hope for a full refund though.

Good luck with that. I read of someone who bought some shoes at a department store whose name begins with R and the next day the sole of one fell off. He took them back for a refund, they said no, he refused to leave and they called the police. Customer service, Thai-style.

But, as suggested on here, I'll get my eyes tested again at a hospital. If they tested wrong at the store I'll take it from there.

Well then if they are taken back and can't (won't) be corrected, you're sh!t out of luck.

    You're basically out of options.

If I understand you correctly, you verbally told her you would extend another year, but after you told her that, you found out you needed to move. So now she is saying you can't get your deposit back because you verbally told her you will extend and you are now breaking the new agreement.

In her eyes, you are breaking the new verbal agreement. You need to find out if verbal agreements are legally binding in Thailand. That seems to be where you are at.

Since he is a falang, most likely it would be binding (or a way will be found for it to be), so lets say if he went to the Police and asked but I'd bet it may have been a bit different if he were a Thai National.

    yeah, TiT.

As usual topics like this are filled with unempathetic rubbishy comments (likely mostly from the boomer crowd) from folk who think they have never put a foot wrong and live perfect lives. Good chance family is reading this!

You can start by donating to his 'GoFundMe' fund since you're so sympathetic.

Sure, no one wishes harm to anyone who was just trying to have a bit of fun, but when you take those risks & they are quite big, you may end up paying a price.

  6. A lesson in life. FB is only face to face transactions. Sure the is a good chance the seller is genuine & will send the product as promised, but there a risks now with more and more people selling, taking the money and ghosting.

Be wise & smarter or you'll be that fool who's money has not departed.

Unless you are planning to take it back to Australia, the trick is how you plan on getting it past customs, other than not declaring it... and you would have a fair idea of what happens if you got caught I'd imagine.

Scratch that, I'm sure you'd have all docs to support the massive amount of cash you are carrying...ofc ourse...

Howdy, personally I'm doing 1y extensions, but if you are registered to a hotel etc in Samut Prakan you can do a monthly tourist extension at that office. Best to go Tuesday to Thursday, almost no people in line.

Registered to a Hotel in Samut Prakan? Well we (partner) did a TM30 online as I'm staying with her. Does that still count or I need to go to CW ???

Thanks BAP, I'm on a SETV and want to extend for another 30 days, but hate the thought of going all the way to Changwattana. I'm not too far from the Samut Prakan office, so was hopeful it could be an alternative options.

    So you recommended, Tue/Wed/Thur ???

I've been going to Samut Prakan immigration for about 4 years now, never had any issue there, whether extension of stay, tm30 or 90day report. Always in and out very fast and no fuss.

Can I assume when you say "Extension of Stay" you are referring to extending a Tourist Visa for another 30 days.???

If not, can I do a 30-day extension after my Tourist Visa expires at Samut Prakan Immigration office as I am staying around the Bang na area & have been going to CW for my 30 day extensions.

    Cheers

doesn't sound like you were there.

sorry to generalise, but thai's aren't know for their acceptance of responsibility. do you have any independent evidence of what actually happened, dash cam for example?

    Well said.

OP is furious yet if he wasn't there then he has no idea what really happened.

Not saying the stepdaughter is not telling the truth, but OP is going of only one side of the story. I bet we would hear a different version from the other driver.

Why don't you quit farting about, get married and acquire THAT visa instead of playing lucky dip at border hops?

This just in... The person checking your passport at the airport or land border works for the Royal Thai Police Immigration Division, not the Revenue Department.

    Hope this helps.

Come on, as if he has a girlfriend he is planning to marry..
