  1. head in the toilet? this man did not die well, but then again who does.

Judging by the picture , and presuming he wasn't moved, I believe they meant to say 'face down in his bathroom'.......

Just old enough for his state pension and alone, rather sad.

Looks like one of the common type of deaths, age, prob sitting on toilet arms on his knees, head down, blood clot in the brain, my Mum went like that same age. RIP.

    Too young, so sad; RIP.

  2. They discovered the bombing linked from North to South.

What in the name of sweet zombie jesus does THAT mean?

I'll make it simple for you.

The bombing was ordered and paid by red leaders in the North that employed people from the South to carry on the attack.

    Simple enough for you?

It's really a close race between you & the junta propaganda team as to who speaks more BS.

Simple is an adjective often used by others re the former.

  3. Heart goes out to the parents.

No good to talk about safety in Thailand it'll always fall on deaf ears; this is a country that cares only about money. Earlier today the government stated that the would attempt to 'negotiate' with the ICAO over air safety issues ... yes negotiate which clearly shows how incompetent this country is.

Planes, boats, buses, minivans, taxis, jet skis ... avoid them at all cost if you value your life.

But you see, it IS about money. Safety is about money. Safety costs money. One of the problems is that tickets are too cheap. Another is of course that operators don't invest enough in safety. What would happen in a functioning market is that you would in due course have a diversified bunch, some operators offering decent safety standards in exchange for a slightly higher ticket price. Safety, in this instance, becomes a marketing aspect. Such operators would attract more business than the others and, in theory at least, the others would in time disappear. We know it won't happen like that because, for one reason, there is a dirt-poor populace that cannot afford these tickets and that also wants or needs to travel. I should personally like to keep State out of it. Could imagine a privately run safety certification system that is not just about bribes. It's not, because they make so much more if they keep their reputation intact. Money is a lovely mechanism, when it comes down to it, you just have to put it to proper use.

Lack of government interest or supervision of the industry.

  4. More ' values ', more hypocrisy, more BS that no one will pay the slightest attention to.

Ladies dress appropriately or you encourage a sexual assault ! Does this apply to ugly women who may wear bikinis ?

As "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" who knows?

There is a fairly standard template for beauty, for most guys. Slim, young, pretty face. I know if the girl I have 'met' at Nana is a fairly standard 'beauty' as all those beer guzzlers in the 'sit and stare bars' at the entrance, give jealous and longing looks as I walk past with her.

    WOW, what a he man!!

Getting jealous and longing looks from the beer guzzlers when he is passing with his rented hooker!!

You seem to forget, that the beer-bellies probably already have slept with your "girlfriend"

    Most stayed awake!

  5. Claimed Mr Hunnington threw the first punch.cheesy.gif

    Of course.

Funny. The farang always initiates these 'gang' attacks.

    Bad farang.

seen this sort of thing happen many times in Pattaya - on the street and in bars, people should learn to keep their hands to themselves and show some respect if nothing else - there are some real stupid idiots around that have only themselves to blame

    Can't handle the alcohol!

  6. Yes, of course the South Koreans have never had problems with their boats. Unless you count the captain who abandoned ship leaving hundreds of school children to die last year. Costa Concordia....oh so sorry didnt see the sandbank. Townsend Thoresen....oh awfully sorry old chap didn't realise we had to close the doors. Those whinging about Thai marine accidents should look closer at home methinks.

It's more a case of what lessons were learned (or ignored) post incident. Marine safety, like rail or air safety should always learn from these catastrophes. Unfortunately we humans occasionally hit the self destruct button and that aint gonna change anytime soon.

  7. They (allegedly) murder a guy and continue their vacation like nothing happened, talk about dumb and dumber! I'm not condoning the killing, but in the circumstances, the third suspect played the smart card and got the hell out of Dodge! I'm pretty sure he will be rounded up soon as well.

Read the article well again. "The third member of their group had already returned to Russia prior to the murder taking place." There is no third suspect. The third member of their group returned to Russia before the murder was committed.

He could have conspired in the crime prior to his return.

  8. When security guards escort someone to the front door and evict them due to the state of their intoxication, they do not beat them to a pulp. When a patron becomes violent, or threatens violence, well who knows what may come their way. This could have been an each way bet. It may have been that either the security guards or the drunken patron were going to be injured in a physical confrontation. In this case it was the drunken tourist (Guest in Thailand) who came off second best. If you are at the point of intoxication where it is likely that you will become aggressive and or threaten harm to the hosts of your holiday destination, save it till you get home, or go home. No one wins by coming to Thailand and disrespecting the culture, brooding for a fight, or showing off your drinking skills. If asked to leave a premises, smile, walk on, walk out, and go back to your condo or hotel. Live to drink another day.

    Culture, on walking street?

  9. I suppose that when the new constitution brings in an Upper House full of military, judges, old elite and thier sycophants (who will have complete control over the elected Lower House); who then seek to return Thailand to the dark ages, a number of TV posters will cease the general's arse licking and wake up.

    Then again TIT!

  10. The facists who regularly subscribe to this forum, Rubl, Robblok, Costas, TVgerry, MikeMc, JDinasia et al, will be scratching their heads and wondering what all the fuss is about.

They still serve cold beer at the bar, can still watch sport on the big screen, can still go shopping at the mall.

Nicely insulated from the reality of Thai life.

Not so fun for the families of those detained for just speaking out against or voicing an opinion against the coup.

No doubt they all came from democratic countries where free speech is a right for everyone.

I suppose the facists would prefer to see this right removed at home too?

Better to have a military man in charge eh?

You all make me sick, in your comfortable expat world, offering your sycophantic excuses for these nazis.

I suspect you're not smart enough to even understand the real reason for this Junta taking over.

You still cling to the pathetic story that it's all for the good of Thailand's people.

You dimwits, none so blind as those who will not see.

    you get my like!!

  11. Received a couple of emails this morning from friends who are still living in Thailand and each are now desperate to get out. This situation is unlikely to improve and I'm perplexed as to why we are not seeing more foreign expats heading out.

Move back to democratic England with the frightening possibility of an imminent Labour/SNP government? No chance. Give me the good General any day rather than Alex Salmond and Millipede. Under martial law, the only soldiers I saw were friends who came to help with the garden as I cannot get around too well. As I am not a subversive malcontent, I am not particularly worried about Article 44, and I think life will carry on as normal for 99% of the population.

So that's how many locked up without trial?

    Answer @ 1/2 million.

  12. The elite always yearn for the old establishment. I'm sure King John felt outraged when the barons imposed Magna Carta on him in 1215, he was certainly very quick to run to the Pope for an annulment! However political power had started to run down towards the populace.

Move on another 500yrs and in England only landowners could vote and power passed down through their eldest son. Wages were breadline, workers were abused and their health care was an irrelevance.

Another hundred years saw the emergence among much bloodshed of trade unions and the vote trickled down to most men. Kick on another hundred and women started to have a political voice.

The result of all this "progress" is the elite no longer oppress the people; who have proper health care and a minimum wage. The Union (of GB) in my opinion still has to move towards a living wage but when I look at Thailand and how it is governed I'm glad we don't have a "King John" anymore, I just hope it doesn't take Thailand another 800yrs to see the light!
