Before I took on the 90 day / annual visa task myself I used Assist and I highly recommend them.
I know Farangs that use Assist to sort out the nightmare of a Farang work related visa and they also recomend.

    I hope this helps ????

None of the "issues" with Immigration requires the need to use some parasitic agent.   Those being too lazy to learn the system or who couldn't care about the charges will opt to use some agent.  It's not rocket science folks.

22 years doing the little effort needed with never any thought to use some agent.

I get paid for my online teaching using Paypal and Payoneer.  Both link to my Thai bank account, but luckily Payoneer also links directly to my Lao bank account.  I am busying trying to sort out a way to accept WeChat payments from my Chinese students (as a foreigner, the solution is to open a Stripe account which can link to WeChat.  But Stripe only operates in certain countries.  So I first have to open a UK Ltd company, then open a Stripe business account, then add WeChat payments etc).

This KYC requirement is really messing up us free-spirits....

"free-spirits"???   Self-centered selfish leeches more like it.  Willing to use public services but not to pay for them...

Enjoy the smooth roads, street lighting etc etc just for openers.

  3. "have a experienced  independent  overseer as the project progresses"  Make sure he is from out of the area and has no connection with your contractor.  Your wife's BIL probably won't do.

Ventilate the attic space well.  15 cm fiberglass insulation on the ceiling is a minimum.

Double brick walls a must.  We used "Q-con-type" for the outside, red brick inside.  All of the electrical wiring can be run in conduits in the empty space.  If the builder needs to cut groves in the walls for running conduit have this done and completed before the walls are rendered.

Do not allow any water lines to be buried into concrete for obvious reasons.  Ensure that there is an accesible crawl space under the bathrooms and kitchen for use in future repairs.

Do slump tests on the cement being used for structural supports (post and beams).  Watch the mad scramble to get more bags of cement the first time you do this.  Measure the size of the rebar as undersized saves the contractor money.

Use a proper septic system rather than the common cesspit.  It's fine to run the grey effluent into the same tank as the black effluent.  Build the tanks from concrete rings and place a pre-cast bottom rather than slopping is some cement to seal the tanks.  Good idea to do a simple percolation test on your leach field especially if you are building on a former rice field.

Many other good points being made by posters in this thread.  Pay close attention to the details and the big things will fall into place easily.

Not me....got a rejection form because the registration program does not let you put two items in a box, and they wanted passport & visa in one box. I sent the missing info two weeks or so ago....heard nothing since.

Try it again - they wee having asmall glitch in the site.  Worked fine for me.  Use the browse and then load both at the same time.

  5. Checked out both, XV and Forester, a couple years ago ended up buying a Forester.

XV is OK if you are a shorter person.  I'm 185 cm tall and had to bend more ways than I wanted for getting in and out.

Engine the same for both 2 liter I believe.

I opted for a simpler version, 2.01p, rather than the top end with all the bells and whistles like air con adjustable individually for driver or front pax etc etc.  Just more to potentially go wrong IMO.

Sales people were really poor on product knowledge.  Service to date further convinces me of the shade tree mentality of local wrench twister.  Never the same service people in evidence any time I need to drop in - which isn't that often.

Had a Subie back in 'merica and loved it.  This one is working well and I hope for many more years with it.

  6. I was in one of Chiang Mai's 'finest' private hospitals being treated.  Told the Dr. that I had gone through some relevant procedures at the other "finest" hospital.  The other hospital refused to release the records unless I personally came to pick them up, which I was unable to do at the time.  I even signed some form requesting release but they still refused.  Told them to RAM it in the future.

I find the arrogance of the headline "I want>>>>>>>>evict my foreign big bucks", a little disturbing, this is another person thinking some money makes them immune from following rules, keeping their side of a signed contract, and acting ethically. Displays a lack of values to me. Seems like a person you would not want as a business partner.

Sounds like a self-centered 'merican.  The rules/laws do not apply to folk like them - especially if they are paying a pittance in comparison to what rents would be 'back home'.   Hoping that frustration get this one to pack the bags and leave.

As with most of the replies I have been using Braveco for the last 2-3 years, but as suggested by my vet I do not dose every 3 months, i monitor and get up to 9 months between doses as needed, even more saving!

Quite correct.  We dose only when and if we find a tick on any of our dogs.  Bravecto also works wonders in treating many types of mange.  We carry Bravecto when out and about and will stop and treat any dog we see with mange.  Within a month or so you see a completely "new" dog.  Of course no charge to the owners as they would never pay to give their dogs a chance.

We went with the Forester 2.0i rather the the next model up (2.0iP) as I couldn't see paying more for bells and whistles I have no need of.  That was  year ago.

Dealer in Chiang Mai are foot draggers and really do not know their product.  Seem to have a very high turnover of staff, both sales and service, as well.  The service department there is very easy to use - I've never seen it busy.  Perhaps that is telling me something?

So far service has been OK but I'm one of those who watch each and every move.  Had a Toyota before and really appreciated that I could sit in air con room while watching them service the car.

Love the car and very happy with it.

Confusion on the service timing.  Booklet with the car says every 10,000 km, owner's manual (both Thai and English versions) say 15,000 km.   BKK Subaru center says thzat it is from the translation being incorrect - until I had them eat their words by going to the exact pages in the books.  Still no decision on this.

Not at all happy with the latest service in Chiang Mai.  No used parts presented to verify that the oil (engine and differentials) had actually been changed.  At the very last moment before I got into the car to leave a technician came running up with torque wrench in hand to torque the lug bolts after the tires had been rotated.  When I got home I noted one tire (the spare going into the rotation) had very low pressure - about 35% of what is required.  Technicians obviously had not done any checking of tire pressure.  As noted, one is not able to observe the car while being serviced so who is to know what is done or not done.  This has been brought to the attention of the BKK center.
