  1. No way, dude. The Thais would never pollute the environment like that. If a young visionary/entrepreneur--let's call him Somchai Gates for now--could find some suckers investors he could collect all the filthy cooking oil, convert it into fuel and Thailand's looming energy crises will be easily avoided.

Screw all the pie-in-the-sky scams schemes like like bio-diesel from sugarcane and cassava (how's that working out for you Brazil?). Pi Lek's old cooking oil is the answer. Damn, this is such an awesome concept I'm surprised nobody has thought of it before tongue.png

  2. In Malaysia some of the different companies have their own scam training courses and may (or may not) recognize OPITO/BOSIET/HUET certs. Same with medicals. Strange but true...it's all about the $$$. Myself and many of my associates have been through this situation before.

Best to check with the outfit you plan on working for to see what training course certs/medicals they require...

  3. Total Insanity! I have been in the Herb, Spice & Nutraceautical business for over 20 years. Have a degree in Molecular Chemistry and specialize in botanicals. Ran a factory in the USA for 15 years and am very familiar with "Good Manufacturing Practices" and had regular dealings and inspections with the USA FDA - who are known to be quite tough with what they allow on the market. But, even my contacts at the FDA would laugh at this list.

As someone said previously, - this is a list compiled by people who are on the "take", to make $$$ for other people.

Most of these herbs are benign - with one or two exceptions. Turmeric ? One of the most promising natural herbs to combat cancer cells. It has been proven in numerous major studies by respected Universities, - that curcumin (the main active compound in turmeric), kills cancer cells.

    Need I say any more?

    Insanity at it's best !

For such an educated & successful person (you claim), it appears you're a bit short in the common-sense department. These ten substances are NOT BANNED. They are being considered for APPROVAL!

Jeez... are paz and gwynt the only posters in this thread who have any reading comprehension?

  4. Yup, defamation lawsuit. His word against a Thai govt official (who will gladly pay out part of settlement to cronies).

They will find against RB, then the govt will not renew visa based on the defamation.

    Really quite stupid.

Defamation laws were set up to protect thieves, murders and scoundrals - why does this person think he can buck these laws?

I've met Richard Barrow twice before and he didn't strike me as being the sharpest pencil in the box. Now my impressions are confirmed.

Each time this <deleted> tweets on Twitter he's digging a deeper hole for himself..

  5. Excuse my language, but it is appropriate considering these scum who drive minivans.

I drive on the 7 and 36 a lot. The majority of minivans I see on these freeways are operated by a pack of idiotic, bullying, rude .... They speed in excess of 140 KPH and get right up on your rear bumper so you cannot see their headlights. Or they drive slow in the fast lane and will not move out of the way. They will cut in front of you suddenly without any directional indicators or safe space. It seems all the other Thai drivers in vehicles smaller than them avoid them like the plague. I see this behavior acted out against many innocent drivers time and time again.

I had a road run-in about three months ago where a van came up on me so fast I thought he would rear-end me. I was boxed in and could not pull over. He persisted and honked and flashed his hi-beams. The surrounding vehicles cleared out. I still could not safely get out of the way as he was so close on my rear, heavy-duty, stainless steel bumper. Needless to say, I dealt with it and he lost. I turned on my hazard lights and he stayed on my bumper. I slowed down gently and he stayed on my bumper. I sped up and he sped up. I said .... it; braced myself and slammed on the brakes. He slammed on his brakes and two for his tires blew out at about 130 KPH - bam bam. No contact. He barely made it to the side of the road and nearly got hit in doing so, as he swerved across three lanes suddenly and forced several vehicles to slam on their brakes. I kept on going with a shit eating grin and years of experience driving in these types of conditions.

I hate these ...... beyond belief and am prepared to retaliate with my 4000+ pounds of angry steel if they threaten my safety and do not allow me the courtesy of getting out of their way safely. I am aware of the fact that they are crazy and they are capable of doing anything, but if I am alone in my truck and this happens, then this happens and they'll go with me or they'll simply go. I am not ashamed of telling it, and I suspect there will be a few who do not condone what I did, but I give a shit. Put my back against the wall and I'll unleash whatever Hell I've got to give. The little ..... can die for all I care. I have no use for them. They shouldn't be allowed to drive anything. 16 year old princesses and minivan drivers: enough said! Every time I read a story like this I shake my head in disbelief at how stupid, selfish and disrespectful Thai people are towards others with the technology they have been blessed with. Flame off.

  6. No worries. All these damn PL's get confusing (I've been installing them for 30+ years including Yadana and Yetagun). Here's a map that might help. Oh yeah, Khun Naam--Burma does indeed receive gas from the Yadana platform and they DO "give a toss"...

Naam--"Plus the gas from this field is piped directly to Thailand, Myanmar
don't use any of it, so I guess they couldn't really give a toss"

    What an idiotic statement...

  7. Would have made sense to do this "routine maintenance" in January, no? Bit cooller then.

the maintenance is done by Myanmar on Myanmar gas fields. why don't you offer yourself as adviser and tell these backward people when exactly any maintenance should be done?

Plus the gas from this field is piped directly to Thailand, Myanmar don't use any of it, so I guess they couldn't really give a toss

    >Perhaps this question has been asked and answered already but if so I've missed it.

There is plenty of natural gas on the world market. Why can Thailand, or the power companies, not purchase it elsewhere to make up for the shortfall from Myanmar?

This a 24" pipeline direct from Myanmar, you would need an inordinate amount of tankers and storage to replace that for 9 days

Wrong. The PL from Yadana platform to the Burmese/Thai border is 36". From there to the Ratchburi powerplant the PL is 42".

  8. you could just go & ask some actual Thai people why they don't like black dogs... whistling.gif

Pointless. Silly makmak. I gave the girlfriend the money to have the coat of one of the poodles trimmed before yesterday. She said she couldn't do, cutting heair on wednesdays and thursdays bring bad luck. I didn't inquire further, but waited until today.

I wish you hadn't have posted that ^^^. I have to drive from Trat to Chonburi on Wednesday. My (rust-colored) dog was to have his hair cut that day or Thursday and I planned to have my hair cut on Thursday.

    Seems like I'm well-<deleted> now...sick.gif

  9. Amazing Thailand never stops amazing. blink.png

A team of police commandos (to thwart any rescue attempt) have escorted him to prison.

He has been taken to Bangkok Remand Prison after he was medically cleared.

He'll be free in 30 years and 4 months at the age of 104.

Looks more like a team of frogmen. Perhaps he was expected to jump into a khlong. Why would he need to be medically cleared before going to prison? Don't they have any prison doctors?

His past transgressions might be forgiven but the fashion police should never let him slide on the horrible ensemble he's wearing in this photo. Does he have no sense of proper dress? Shame on him...

On the other hand, the commandos look absolutely dashing...

  10. The Northeast monsoon has arrived which clears up the seawater and reduces rainfall considerably. The mountain road is being repaired and easily usable with police directing flow at the remaining damaged spot. Many nice resorts are offering substantial discounts.

  11. Dude--how'd you get banned overnight?

Anyway, I know you can't reply now but avoid the PTT station in Klong Prao. Their pumps are 'fixed' to show more liters than actually delivered and the fuel is way overpriced plus the B5 (and prob the other brands as well) are watered-down. I found out the hard way...

I've never had a problem with the Shell station near Chai Chet and nobody I know has either.
