  1. It was long ago I had PS and it was really fun to play. Now friend of mine sent me PSP and PS2 from US. What does the games cost for those consoles? Where can I buy it? Originals? Pirates? Will local games play on PS2 from US? It is NTSC, and the locals probably PAL? What about modification chip? Any information kindly appreciated !

  2. So what measures would you propose to prevent an attack?

To tell you the true, based on my experience of few years, nothing will help to prevent the bombing if planned and implemented by suiside bomber with support of locals(BKK residents). Explosives will be smuggled from Malaysia across the border, after brought by sea to one of the ports close to BKK and driven in by the high way. The bomber will fly himself by the air from the South to BKK, or will be one of the local Muslim students. I just hope that those guys will blow themselves before actually making an act, as it happens many times with unexperienced terrorists.

Doi Thong, you seem you 'know' a lot about these things....scary! :o please explain your 'knowledge'!

Why would they go as far (from the south) as BKK when they could do the same devastating impact in a resort-island like Phuket or even Samui? Phuket (The whole world KNOWS where Phuket is...Tsunami..remember?) would have the same impact as BKK !!!

Anyway, it's a terrible and scary subject :D

    LaoPo

Knowledge is from Middle East...unfortunatelly..They will blow in BKK, cause they are not the decision makers. Read between the lines: SINGAPOREAN INTELLIGENCE predict a bomb in BKK, That means that Singaporeans intercepted a message or know of meeting between Thai insurgency and outsiders(I would say Malay). But the demand for such a bomb come from international organizations based mostly in Middle East and invest the money in this war in SEA through funding muslim schools and taking some money aside from the balooned budgets. They targeting Thailand right now for few reasons:

    1. Mostly Biddhist country that have a problem with Muslim minority

    2. Many tourists

    3. Lack of intelligence, security and experience in counter-terrorism

Anyway the time will show if the locals will be stupid enough to agree to make such an act on pressure from outsiders and heavy financial pressure, or they will realise that this move will bring harsh reaction of Thai goverment towards them. I hate to say that, but I think they will decide to strike...:-(

  4. Thaksin dismisses threat of terrorist attack in Bangkok

Deny deny deny...Thai inteligence...do me a favour, why many terrorists and criminals choosing Thailand as their base for operations? Cause noone cares in this country, everybody are busy in making tea money, going to have lunch all together at 12 and keep many mia nois and new cars to show the friends. Thaksin making a mistake again, instead of telling ppl that he will take all the measures to prevent the attack, he dismiss the posibility of such an attack. The one thing is different now: he cant control those guys that ready to blow themselves, unlike his other critics in media and opposition. I say lets pray that it wont happen, or if it happen not many lives will be taken.

  5. With the hassle of having to go to the local police station I can see why most would opt to pay a "fine" on the spot.

On the other hand, police here don't really care whose car you're driving as they never check the license plate/registration. Back in the States, the cops would read off your license plate to a central station via radio and lots of info would come up. They also asked to see your registration and proof of insurance.

Red light at Petchkasem road cost me 300 baht 2 years ago, same thing at Rama 4 cost me 200 this year. Tickets? Police stations? Noncense.

  6. I saw the Mazda 3 in last Auto show and was impressed, especially with iner design. The 4 door version in red/white or black look gorgeous. Anyone bought this car recently? Please share your experince starting from financing and to performance, thanks in advance.

    Hi

I just bought a 4 door Mazda 3 R S/R (2.0) in blue (best colour in my opinion..very racy :o )from Mazda City Lumpini. I got it on finance 50% down through GE Capital, no need for thai guarantor. Placed order 2nd week of November, car arrived 2nd week december after some pushing for confirmed delivery date etc etc.

Overall service pretty good, better than expected.......just have to keep on there backs for the delivery date. Quite hard to get lots of extras thrown in for free though.....and impossible for discount (tried at 3 differant garages before settling to buy from lumpini).

Yes I would like blue color as well, and few small spoilers that I saw...probably will finalize the deal beginning of January.

  7. Anyway, good to know. Is that true for all dealers ? did you go upfront and said you have no proof of employment or wait for the deal to go further before disclosing that you had no work permit here ?

The financing details were only discussed AFTER we decided on the car, model, colour AND paid the 10.000 non refundable 'reservation' fee.

I first wanted to have the car registerred in my name (farang, no work permit, no emplyment in Thailand but Non-O 1 year + driving license and some funds in Bangkok Bank)

Pay 20% unpon delivery of the car and 4 years financing.

I was ready to provide a Thai guarantor.

They refused (gently) and came up finaly with the deal of :

Car registerred in name of Thai with no need for guarantee or guarantor but

30% upon delivery and 4 years financing

I don't know th elogic or the risk calculation but I am not complaining

I am not aware if this is a special case or of it is for all Honda dealers

The financing company is not Honda themselves

That Thai person they provide? Or you?

    I provide.......

    Ohh ic, thanks.

    Ministry plans ‘maid miracle’

    Published on December 23, 2005

The Labour Ministry is to help local employers by training and supplying high-quality maids from early next year, Minister Somsak Thepsuthin said yesterday. The “maid miracle”, as the programme is called, aims to produce maids who can answer phones, handle queries, and serve drinks and meals. It is part of a bid to lighten the burden on employers, Somsak said.

The programme comes in response to modern social needs, especially in Bangkok, where there are children and elderly people in need of care. Well-trained maids would be very useful, he said.

Untrained maids were prone to quit after a few months of work, he said, and were often a headache for their employers, rather than a help with domestic work.

“I haven’t set a target for the number of maids to be trained, but I intend to produce the greatest number possible,” the minister said.

Somsak said he talked with Mingkwan Saengsuwan, head of the Mass Communications Organisation of Thailand, about running commercials on Channel 9 television before New Year’s Day to promote the programme.

  10. or maybe he does.  :o

Ok, ok you got me, I have no choice but to tell the true.... :D "Russian mafia sindicat looking for freelance killer for BKK branch. We pay 6000 baht per month, the executions take one hour of your time daily. The prefered candidate should be English teacher, as after every job he should log on the net and report to the big boss in Moscow without grammar mistakes"

Ok? Sounds better? I just cant believe that you guys looking for hidden agenda in everything...

  11. If you are native Eng speaker, have computer, internet connection and 1 hour of free time every day, I have a part time job for you that paid 6000 baht per month. I think it is a good deal for teachers or ppl that between jobs. PM me if interested.

    And illegal? :o

If it was illegal I probably pay much more...and not advertise it here. Make sence?

So what work is it? And will you be providing a work permit?

Madness, you are welcome to contact me by PM if you want to know more details as it was clearly stated in my post. Thanks.

  13. Thanks for your replies guys, i wont extend to one year in Thailand, too much paper work to bring and they play lots of games those days, give you few short extentions before the one year one. Just wanted to see that I can extend for 14 days first, then I will go outside Thailand to fix multi entry one year visa.

Easily got even 21 days extention this morning in SuanPlu Immigration. Nice guys and gals there, maybe something changing in that country...
