I visited the Lomprayah ferry parking lot in Chumphon on night to see where it was {we live in Ranong}. It was closed last ferry had already left, but the place looked ok, it had enclosed parking lot, I believe you pay a fee, some areas had a tarp over the cars, others didn't. But I would park my car in the lot if I was going to Koh Tao.

How many times have someone here be pulled over for doing nothing but being a farang and a cop needing tea money. I can use the tea money more then he can. So having a lawyer who's workings for NCCC as my wife's cousin has help. It's just corruption fighting corruption.

I believe she got the money to get bail by selling some property she owned (husband paid for). 9 rai of land on Highway 4 Ranong which is now for sale at 11 million baht.

Overdrive is used when you are moving at higher speeds.
Turn overdrive off when driving around town and feel you need more response to pull away quickly at the traffic lights etc.
Unless you are a measuring your travel time in milliseconds it really does not make a huge differance in day to day driving. This is why the 'normal' setting is overdrive on, and the warning light indicates when you have turned it off.
HTH
Depending on the gearbox it might not be entirely true!
There are two overdrive systems in use, on one system overdrive is just the highest gear, and disabling the overdrive just stops the gearbox of going into the highest gear. I think this is the most used system, it works like that on a Nissan Cefiro and a Volvo I have.
Enabling or disabling the overdrive has no influence at all on the first 3 gears. I do have and economy/sport switch, which does influence the changing of all gears. Engine revs higher before switching a gear up, and kick down comes with not as much throttle needed...This is what I need to do to get away faster at red lights without having to floor the throttle!
Another system is where the overdrive is a complete separate gear behind the main gear box, this one would indeed influence all the gears.
I still remember some older manual gear cars having this overdrive, mostly actuated by a little switch on the gear lever.
Used to have fun driving around thinking I had an 8 gear car
1st without OD -> 1st with OD-> 2nd without OD -> 2nd with OD and so on...
The overdrive in my car seems to be a lower gear feels almost as if I am putting it in low gear. This is why I am so confused when to use it if at all and what effect on fuel economy it has.

I own a Mitsubishi Strada L2000, disesel with 2 wheel drive automatic with overdrive. My question is when should I put it in overdrive seems to be like a lower gear.

From Bangkok go from the outer circle expressway to Rama 2 Road until you get to the end then south on route 4 to Chumporn. At the intersection for Ranong go straight on the Asian Highway to Surat Thani. Once you past the Air Force base your turn on left going to Surat Thani, your continue on Route 41 pasting Tesco, continue on until you past Big C your turn right at that intersection. and follow the signs to the pier at Donsak. It's about 45 km from the Big C. The last ferry leaves about 6 pm. Recommend don't try it in one day very long and tiring trip.

Dont understand why you need the photo, now in at least Bangkok they take the photo and insert it on the new license, looks just like a credit card.
-
One thing you don't need anymore is a photo. They take your picture at the office when they make your new license.

I think its even insane that every year they keep these festivals going along .
They should keep the water war for just a single day , and the rest keep for ceremonial
purposes . Might just make some Thais drink less , would not be a bad idea .
Not that anybody cares for what I have to say though ..... for sure .
Might just make some Thais drink less?????????????? lol never happen.

Only reason I know Thai soldiers stop vehicles is to check for Burmese in the Ranong area. If it was police maybe stopped them for for tea money.

I live in Ranong and they treat the bumese here like crap. Not even as humans no labor here makes more then 3,000 baht. However there is at least three army checks along the road to Phuket, must be paying off the soldiers to get they pass these check points. Also the guy who drove the truck in the case that happen in the USA was from the same area as me Schenectady.

The person who credit card is being used must be flying for you to use the credit card. The airline will check this when she gets her ticket at the airport. So your going to need to send her the money.

Public Bus Bangkok-ranong
in Bangkok

I live in Ranong and travel to Bangkok offered using Chokeanan Tour from the Southern Bus Station gate 62 to 66. They have at least two 32 and one 24 seat buses that leaves in the evening between 8:30 and 9:00 pm. I always take the VIP 24 seat bus. The cost is around 700 baht, the 32 seat bus will be cheaper. There is a government bus that also leaves at 8:00 pm 24 seat but I have no other information on that bus. Chokeanan Tour telephone number is 024357429 or 024355027. The 24 seat bus goes every other day so you need to check with the company to see what days its running odd or even day.
