He is conspicously silent about the Green Valley Homeowwners court case, in light of his earlier touting of the Green Valley Condo

Your update above about the access dispute is contrary to the statements from some of GV residents, their word is that the condo lost the case in the first court and the condo group is now appealing the case.
Who is telling you it is done and dusted in favor of the condo?
The Homeowners won the case against Green Valley in Appeals Court last month. The case is against Green Valley and not the Condo
The decision was that the gate access cutting through the mooban fence into the Green Valley Condo from Green Valley golf course road is illegal and must be closed. Furthermore the Green Valley road ownership must revert to the Homeowners

Prefab steel office 3 x 6m from Group 200 was 195,000 B
c/w door, 2 windows, using insulated prefab wall panels
Did not look into the container alternative too much due to insulation concerns

The very day my new D7100 arives they announce the D7200 !!!
Bought the AFS 35mm F1.8 DX lens as a prime and may yet buy the Nikkor 50 F1.8 but not really sure if it is needed and will give it a bit of experience first

Nikon website describes the difference between D and G lenses and apparently it is the lack of the aperature control ring in the G
I would think that having an aperature control ring is a good thing? Then why is the D series cheaper?
Is there more to it than just the aperature ring?
I also see DX format specific 1.8D and G at
-
Given a focal length multiplier of 1.5 I was thinking of a 35mm prime lens with a fairly fast aperature spec
I am not clear on how the D7100 with focus motor in the body works with old manual focus lenses. Will the camera motor turn my old Nikkor 50mm f1.4 into an autofocus lens?
-
Bought the D-7100 body at 25,900 including a bag and 16GB card from EC Mall in BKK
Getting the Nikkor 28 - 70mm cleaned and will look for a good prime lens

No one has commented if the Nikon D3300 and 5300 are not "smart" enough for someone with my limited experience. The price is attractive but my concern is that the functionality will not be so attractive
Thanks for all the input and it is decision time

My time frame is now as I want it for a laos trip first week of March therefore waiting for the D7200 is out
Will do a bit more research on the other brands suggested and see what is available in thailand
The Sony Alpha a600 is 20,840 body only
Looks like I need to learn about mirrorless as well. Can you look through the lens like a regular camera or do you have to peer at the screen.
Any drawbacks with a lens adapter?

My old and outdated Nikon D70 has finially died so time for a replacement. I am considering another Nikon simply because I have a 28 - 80 AF lens and a few manual focus lenses.
Expereince since the early 70's from full manual, through the various technical evolutionary changes to the D-70. By no means am I a skilled amature, but not a noob either
I have read the reviews of the D-3300, D-5200, D-5300, D-5500, and D-7100
I do not think that the 5300 rotating screen or wifi are features that I really care about.
Not sure if the touch screen of the 5500 is worth the cost VS the 7100
I do not want to spend more than 30K but could be convinced otherwise if there is a good reason
The D3300 with 18-55 and a 4 GB card is a great price at 13,500 Kit is cheaper than the bare body!
D-5200 body is 16,000 and with 18-55mm lens and 8 Gb card at 18,000
5200 with 18-55 and 55-300 is 25,500
D5300 is 20,400 with 18-55 and 8 GB card
As per the 3300 the bare body is no cheaper than the kit?
D5500 body only 23,900
The D7100 body + 16 GB is 26,500 or bare at 24,500
I am leaning towards the 7100 bare body and use my existing 28 - 80 Nikkor AF lens, but the D5200 body is 8500 cheaper and that could buy me a decent telephoto lens, or the dual lens D5200 is virtually the same price as the 7100 body
Difficult to ignore the 3300 kit at 13,500 but I am concerned that I will soon outgrow it if not so already.
Too many choices and any suggestions and advice would be appreciated

Bar end mirrors are deriguer on cafe style bikes, however I prefer them to be on the up side of the bars rather than under mounted as shown.
There is also a version that mounts straight out the bar end and gets away from the shoulder view. They need to be fold away for Thai in traffic style lane splitting
I just bought some for my HD cafe project
I see some local Harley riders simply flipping their stock mirrors upside down the give the same look at zero cost, but I find the undermount to be too difficult to use safely. Each to his own and I am sure that the cool factor has a lot to do with it.

GT Rider is having a Boxing Day ride:

My experience with YSS as posted on GT Rider:
their service is terrrible and there is no technical department in BKK at all. There is is some clueless girl with a much touted degree in "engineering marketing" that knows SFA about bikes and shocks in general
My tale of woe:
I tried to order shocks for my Bonnie and no answer to emails
Had Mrs Hoghead send email in Thai - no answer
Finally they respond to my complaints on Facebook about their lack of service
I press to use normal business communications rather than FB and they reluctantly give me an email
After much wasted time and pointless emails one of which asked for a pic of my bike they decide that they do not have a shock
I refer them to their US Distributor website giving the part number
They deny making the shock
I speak with the US Importer who gives me the PN they use and order from YSS Thailand - he says their technical ability is sadly lacking and they are just a bunch of marketers who have grand visions of their ability. Pretty damming stuff
I give YSS Thailand the PN
They deny making the shock
I press the issue and finally get it ordered
They send me the wrong part
I naturally complain and ask for what I ordered and paid for
YSS tells me that the part they supplied is really what I want as their Euro office says so
I tell them to give me what I ordered and paid for
They tell me that I really want what they provided
This goes back and forth a few times
They tell me to try it and I will like it
I tell them OK but if I do not like it they need to give me what I want
They tell me that I am not even trying
I tell than once again to give me what I ordered, paid for, and they agreed to supply
They agree to take it back
I send it back
They tell me that they do not make what I ordered, and paid for
I remind them of my conversation with their US Importer
I finally get what I wantI wont even begin to get into the pontless discussion about spring rates.
YSS Thailand is bloody useless and it is just not worth it -
Deal done - thanks for all the help Ubonjoe

Manila will issue me a married visa. Seems a bit odd as they will not do the retirement
When I extend this at CNX Immigration during the first 90 days for a year, state for the reason for extension as retirement?
If so, then goal of retirement is acheived and a sucessful end run on the extremely helpful cretin in Manila
-
I am also married to a Thai so that is my other alternative. Lets see what Manila has to say about that
I am in manila anyway so easier and cheaper for me rather than go to Penang on a roundabout route home to Chiangmai
-
manila replies once again to my quirey about single entry non-O
Non-Immigrant O is for dependent or volunteer work. Non-Immigrant O-A is for retirement visa.If non of this applies to you TR visa is your last option. I don't have knowledge with other Thai Embassy or Consulate in other countries but If you will apply at Manila that's what we follow. My other alternative is KL and they tell me this mornign that I have to go back to my home country to apply. When pressed on the issue they say too busy and call back later -
The embassy in Manila has replied:
With reference to your Thai visa inquiry. This is to inform you that the visa section cannot issue you a retirement visa if your not a residence of the Philippines.
Penang has no such qualms
-
Spoke to Penang on the phone and confirms that he will issue me the 3 month typo O that can be converted into a 1 year retirement
-
I am leaving for Manila Nov 14 and there is no time for the 15 days Chiangmai Immigration requires to issue the type O.
My VOA has now been extended once
-
I am a Canadian and have had a Retirement visa for 10 years. This time it expired while in Canada and I entered on a VOA as instructed by both Chiangmai Immigration and the Consul in Vancouver. Trying to get the Type O upon my return to Thailand has been a long story of frustration, conflicting stories, and incompetence on the part of Chiangmai Immigration.
Sparing hearing my tale of woe, the situation now is that I need to apply for a Type 0 non immigrant visa. I cannot do this now as I have a travel schedule that conflicts with their 15 day approval time.
Do I need to apply for the type O visa in my home country, or can I apply in Manila or Penang when I am there in 2 weeks?
