  1. There must be more to this story. I suspect he's afraid of people on the outside. At least he thinks he's safe in custody.
  2. It's simple, take their phones off them for their shift.
  3. The first challenge from expats would be having to show 800,000 baht in the bank for the retirement extension and then being told it's subject to 20% tax. Send a load of money here before 31 December and then sit back with the popcorn.
  4. For 17 billion baht, roughly $485 million, you could buy 50,000 tractors equipped with ploughs. Enough for 8 tractors in every tambon. Rent them to the farmers and there would be no need for crop burning. I know where I would invest the money.
  5. So pay for your big purchases like school fees by direct transfer. Pay by credit card wherever you can, like Revolut. Send your day to day living expenses to the gf. It won't be possible for Thailand to demand 800k in the bank and then take 20%. There'll be a lot more discussion before any of this actually happens.
  6. It would be perverse to insist that we show 800,000 baht in our accounts for our retirement visas and then impose 20% tax.
  7. The 29% were those who voted for the status quo and the 49% are those that will take to the streets if they don't get the government they voted for. The remaining 20% will give the rioters food and shelter.
  8. So owning shares in a company that hasn't broadcast or published anything since 2008 is enough to disqualify him. They really are barrel scraping, bottom feeders.
  9. How much better would Thai life be with a decent IPA on tap. Lots of hope in Thailand at the moment, I'll raise a glass to the Future Forward!
  10. Everyone knows it comes from crop burning across SE Asia. Why do they burn? Because they don't own tractors to turn the soil over, so burning is the cheapest way. Now for the cost of 3 submarines you could buy 28,000 tractors, enough for three in every agricultural tambon. You could rent them out for a nominal fee and over time the investment would pay for itself. Immediately the nation would see an improvement in health. But of course defense of the realm must take priority over the nation's health.
  11. Royal Varuna is the place to go as you are in Pattaya. If you want a new boat contact Element6.com. also in Chonburi, they make them. Cost around 200,000. There are always members at RVYC selling Lasers. When I was there in December there were 3 or 4 for sale on their noticeboard. When i was there i took some photos.
