  1. Where's that idiot on tv who says...

    This happens in every country....

    Yea, okay.

After almost 10 years in Thailand, let me conclude...

The place is a death trap, time will tell you

Things will never change, it's ingrained

I'm leaving next month, and so much the better for it.

I know, good riddance... You can keep your cheap girls and living in paradise illusion.

    Cheers Thailand.

You were fun for a while but the ride is over.

  2. Why everyone get so uptight?

The foolish only can be attracted by the foolish.

Is it any different to bull fighting in Thailand? Or any business? Or the 10000 monk check in NR where the followers chant 'give me fortune, give me riches, make me a millionaire?

As said in the Baghavad Gita, let those who worship money and fortune be given these from their inferior gods.

Nobody gets hurt... Except everyone gets what he deserves, even the Monk, clearly you can/will see.

  3. Hi Guys and Gals,

I would like to return to Australia with my family. This includes my wife and two young children. If you can help, please assist with the following.....

    The confusion

    1. If children are Australian citizens (through application), is a child visa required (subclass 101)?

    2. Is my wife required to submit a tourist visa (subclass 600) considering she has previously been granted a tourist visa

    (year 2006)?

    3. Is my wife required to obtain a tourist visa (subclass 600) before applying for a Partner temporary visa (subclass 309)?

    4. If my wife applies for a Partner temporary visa (subclass 309), can she list the children on this visa, making
other child visas unnecessary? (SEE BELOW)*

    ---------------

Partner Visa: Offshore Temporary and Permanent (Subclasses 309 and 100) Application charge

There is an application charge for this visa. This will usually not be refunded if your application is unsuccessful, or if you decide to withdraw your application after you have lodged it. The application charge covers you and all dependent

family members included in your application.

Note: You pay only one application charge even though:

by completing the application form, you automatically apply for a
temporary and permanent visa at the same time

you include dependent members of your family unit in your visa
    application.

  4. Hello and good day to you all,

Any Australian citizens willing to help out....

As an Australian myself, my son's citizenship form needs signing by an 'Australian Witness'; sign a form and the back of 4 photos of my son. Unfortunately, there are no Australians at my place of employment.

If you can help, I will return a favor... buy you a beer, give you a couple of hundred baht (etc).

I reside near Ekkami, Sukhumvit. Please message me if you are able to help out.

Posted January 2013 - request valid until June 2013 or until further notice.

    Sincerely,

    Coconutmonkey

  5. Anybody remember the "offical" pentagon Jessica Lynch story? The one where her humvee was attacked, flipped over and she bravely defended herself unloading her M16 before using her knife to defend herself? She was shot, stabbed, raped and finally extracted from her captives in a daring rescue carried out by brave special forces? The effect of this story was a valuable spike of support for President Bush and the war effort.

Of course months later a less publicized story showed Lynch testifying before congress that the pentagon had made the whole story up. A fictional story created by Bush's pr propagandist Jim Wilkinson. Lynch said that in fact she offered no resistance at all. Her gun jammed and she crumpled to the grown crying and praying. She was never shot, stabbed or raped. She had a broken leg and other injuries which occurred when the humvee flipped. The "extraction" was nothing more than Jerry Bruckheimer theatrics and in real life the hospital she was in turned her over without any resistance.

Add the Lynch lie to the mountain of lies the Federal government has told over the decades and tell me how I am supposed to believe a dam_n thing they say?

    Agreed. Well said.

    As for this whole topic:

It's okay to say: "burn in hell" to a human, regardless of what you THINK you know about him (what you have been fed, that is).

It's not okay to say: Obama gets a massive election boost, no other country was involved in the raid, the body was disposed of rather quickly (again), there is no evidence of the death, look at what happened with election results concerning Bill Clinton and Ricky Roy Rector

    <snip>

Justice has been done? What for the million people killed by the US in the middle east after chasing him around for a decade? What about the billions of dollars that could have been spent on health, recovery from natural disasters and so forth? Justice??? For those who want their poppy fields and oil wells.... the ones with all the answers, and the motive too. But of course, it's easier just to say no to anything other than the world is flat.

  6. The world is safe now! He's dead!

After spending billions of dollars over a decade blowing up countries and killing people, they have caught him!

No more trouble in the world! Peace again with the UN, US and NATO in charge!

Very intelligent work! Only a few crappy videos to know what he looks like, and even identified him after shot in the head. I guess the beard gave it away...

Now they can get back to blowing up the middle east looking for terrorists....

Iran is a terrorist nation! Let's blow them up!!!!

Is there an election coming up soon???

  7. There is a strange irony here.

Radiation can cause cancer, but it is also an important way of curing it.

    http://en.wikipedia....diation_therapy

The Iodine pills only help with one kind of cancer. :bah:

    http://www.health.ha...nt-201103141864

This is not entirely true. There is much misinformation concerning iodine by industry (for profit). I will list some of these, but the topic is massive.

    1) Iodine assists in protection against ALL sex hormone related cancers. This means cancers which occur as a result of progesterone production: not progesterone per se, but cortisol, testosterone and estrogen which are synthesized in the body from progesterone. This includes prostrate cancer, thyroid, breast, cervical, ovarian, etc. This is why, typically, before the mass adoption of western fast food into Japanese culture, Japanese people were low in cancers, particularly sex cancers due to their high intake of seaweed and seafood (which contains high levels of iodine). Iodine regulates endocrine hormone production from progesterone.

    2) This will never be supported by mainstream health care/hospitals, and that is why some will say "we never knew iodine can help breast cancer!" Of course, it cannot be patented/copyright, and treatments such as surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy fleece you of much more money to support the economy/hospitals and pharmaceutical companies than a naturally occurring molecule from seawater/seaweed and marine sources. Hemp again is another classic example of this industry manipulation.

    3) radioactive iodine-131 (which means it is an isotope of iodine) does not in fact cure any cancer. That is false; it is used to destroy overactive thyroid glands; the idea that if you are hyperthyroid, then killing part of it will suppress it to regular working levels. Treatment from Iodine-131 will cause greater problems relating to metabolism in the future; the key ingredient for cancer, as metabolism affects oxygen assimilation and necrosis of cells resulting in cancer suppression or growth. This basically means that while it may appear, and be touted (even used) as a cure, those who undergo treatment will find themselves likely to develop sex-hormone related cancers further down the line because of the disruption to metabolism.

    4) KI (potassium iodine) is not the same as I2 (elemental iodine). KI is water soluble, meaning it can be excreted, however elemental iodine is fat soluble, meaning it stores in body fat. KI contains I2, and this is the only reason it cannot be taken in excess (huge excess, that is). It is rather quite safe under normal uses. Therefore, it is necessary to ingest iodine regularly.

    5) Noting this, the RDI (recommended daily intake) of iodine is far too low than the correct dosage, and the amount added to table salt likewise is inadequate for proper iodine thyroid levels.

    6) Not only this, but as iodine is a halogen (group 17) with a higher atomic mass than fluorine (toothpaste, water), bromine (breads, etc) and chlorine (water), then iodine is easily displaced causing a deficiency. Furthermore, phytoestrogens (e.eg., in soy products, etc) bind to iodine molecules disabling proper assimilation by the thyroid, again increasing chances of deficiency. This is the reason for high occurance of goiter and cretinism of inland Chinese who consume soy products and live long distances from coastal iodine rich sources of food.

    7) Interestingly, IQ is also affected by iodine.

The other choice is to shell out all your money for toxic cancer treatments (no one fares well with chemo or radiotherapy, and surgery is butchery...), and follow mainstream thinking "beware of every disease and virus!". It just doesn't work, there are too many; the wiser choice is to strengthen your immune system so it doesn't become prone to attack by pathogens. Iodine assists greatly with immune system functioning, as that is a primary role of the thyroid gland.

That's an intro. Hope it helps.

Of course you may ask your doctor and until you mention anything about radioactivity, he will tell you KI cannot be ingested because it is a poison (as it says on the bottle); as it is used to swab infections topically and pre-surgery and used in bacteriology. However, paper is a poison too if you eat too much, and for example, what could be worse than soy or ice-cream? Industry for profit is the criminal.

Cancer is industry (big money IS made!), as are pharmaceutical companies, and all their derivatives; hospitals, doctors and the like who must follow suit.

Disclaimer: Of course! This is not intended to be or replace medical information or advice from your family doctor. :-)

  8. It is sad that this terrible topic is being used by private and self-declared "humanitarian" organisations to make money. The Grey Man Charity itself stays anonymous, but claims to work with the Thai police. Did you know that they have their annual fund-raiser event coming up in a couple of week? Don't you find it odd that they tout their involvement in a Thai undercover-operation just now? Just a coincidence? What about if they sell their film material for money? How true are their claims? How come they are allowed to work whithin a supposedly highly corrupted system? How are they being financed? And how do they buy their way into the Thai crime business? Why does this Australian organisation not help the cause of the Aborigines? This "humanitarian" stuff smells of a very fishy business. Jumping on the human-trafficking bandwagon just to get some fake glory and to make money does not help the real victims at all...

Very good points to bring up...

I think this is a very bright post.

  9. Sorry we don't have time.

Please go to the nearest 7-11, they will help you.

Which twelve? There must be over 100 7-11's in pattaya?

Yes, that's it again. Both ciaociao and kuffki have very, very valid points.

Of course, those who defend idiot-ism, put your rose glasses back on and tell us to leave.

That's the only suggestion you've ever had to improve Thailand. Clearly criticism towards improvement, understanding and awareness is not your idea of an improvement.

  10. Mmm...Of the 22 comments on the opening page of this topic, 19 were negative, 2 were positive and 1 was mediocre.

When my 7-11, in Chiang Dao where they do speak English, becomes a member, I'll be happy, even tho I speak Thai.

Good luck to you 19. Have a nice visit, then please leave.

What is it about people who put on rose colored glasses?

Yep, just pretend everything in the world is okay, and it will be, right!. Problem solved... you know.... or just leave Thailand again!

Forget the injustice, forget the lies, deception, diversion..... and keep your head in the sand. I would say it in my own country too.

No offense to you personally; it looks great from your angle!

Again, of course, just leave Thailand. Problem solved! You see, it's not that people don't appreciate the wonderful things Thailand has to offer..... isn't it just that some people are tired of being deceived, lied to, flaked for their money that keeps their families alive..... !!!

Of course, put on your rose glasses and forget the poor guy at the bottom of the ladder who gets shat on continuously by society. Of course, that'll never be you, so don't stress.

Then I won't write for you, just for the voice of the little Thai guy, like the little foreign guy who is always trying to make ends meet against injustice (not to mention police who are supposed to be justified) and the myriad of lies we are fed. Eat up.

  11. 1. As someone already mentioned staff at 7-11 hardly speak any English

    2. So a victim is to walk around from 7-11 to 7-11 trying to find which one can help?

    3. Whats the kickback to 7-11?

    4. What would be a response time? 24 hours?

    5. What about Family Marts? why not involve them and also may be the tailors, since there is one on every corner.

Now they say staff have undergone special training, what training was that? Police does not have any training, so what did they teach the 7-11 staff? How about having the "great little helpers" the farang volunteers stay at those 7-11, since there is no shortage of them trying to get in.

I don't know what you're all b*tching about, they offer to HELP police, not take over their duties. they hire pretty good people and screen thoroughly. if you cant find police, 7 11 is a good place to check.

why all the unnecessary and untrue negative remarks? Why so many complaints? why not just go back to your homeland then?

Well, go back to your homeland..... seems to be the dud kind of answer anyone can post when they want to defend Thailand...... Geez, how to argue with that?

What are you talking about? B*tching, if that's what you call it...... isn't it criticizing? Yes, it does have a purpose. If you don't know the weaknesses, how can you forestall them or know what best action to take???

    1) It's not a preventative strategy, just a reporting strategy that is only intended to divert attention, and create a good PR image for the police who have suffered in the press continually and have little esteem according to foreigners internationally - I'm generally afraid to go to them - I'd rather tell someone else l - they'll only extort money anyhow

    2) It takes the responsibility from the police, only something they could be happy about on their low wages and taking up tea money time

    3) staff won't be trained to speak the multitude of languages of foreign customers who visit Thailand and are victim to unnecessary crimes that the police don't prevent while they are underpaid and looking for other ways to boost their income.... pawn the problem of incompetence in language communication off to the low-class seven eleven staff for 23 baht per hour

    4) What could a seven eleven staff member do? End up calling the police because an irate foreign customer is going berserk in another language in seven eleven as he's just been assaulted and a Thai certainly won't know what to do in that situation very easily

    5) If no-one coming into Thailand knows about it because it is not publicized with a remedy for action, then it is useless; however, if widely publicized and standard practice in the future, it does look impressive to the mobs of tourists who aren't yet aware of the facade behind Thai politics and motive that always leads nowhere

    6) Now that I've criticized it, I know it's weaknesses can only be greater than its strengths. I have learned not to believe this 'one day he said' kind of stuff that's published for PR and puts smiles on fat cats faces while they can keep ignoring the real problems like reducing real crime - that is, actions that harm others and so forth

  12. I truly believe that Thaksin looks upon Kim Jong-il with envy and jealousy of the first degree. I am sure wherever he was watching the recent military parades in North Korea, he was sat dreaming of himself in the same situation passing on some form of dynastic power to his offspring.

This man will bring great great trouble to Thailand before he is done, and will make his move when a certain event occurs that sadly cannot be to much further in the future.

maybe they could use some of that money that was seized off taksin to help efforts. If taksin gets back into thailand by throwing money of his own into the thai economy then Thailand really is for sale and it might come down to who has more cash.

If Taksin can finance a war then i guess he will can finance a aid releif.

Right. War disguised as aid relief, too. Ignorance can't detect motive

  13. On top of all this, the influence of Typhoon MEGI, now over the South China Sea, coming from the Philippines and heading for China's main coast in the Hong Kong region, will be felt also.

Lots of more rain to come.

It's time Thailand should invest more and work harder on Water Management, otherwise the disaster will be immense and beyond everybodies imagination.

And, what's more: you won't be able anymore to read the news here on Thaivisa since everything will not be functioning anymore.

Total failure and collapse of the infrastructure.

The biggest threat -one day- is coming from a very serious flooding, like there is now, coming from the North and Central, in combination with an exceptional storm, blowing the water in the gulf of Thailand, pushing it to the Bangkok shores.

Both flows will meet in the Bangkok region and the disaster will be complete, forcing Thailand into the greatest misery of it's existence.

It's not a question IF, but WHEN !

    LaoPo

    LaoPo,

Can you be sure? What time do you think the water will hit Bangkok?

Is it wise to leave today? Do you think it is that serious? Any other views?

  14. Another Drug Prohibition story... An alternative? Legalize and regulate just like alcohol and cigarettes. LEAP - Law Enforcement Against Prohibition

Yeah mate that should solve the problem..

I wonder what are you on? :)

Your false accusations are proof of your foolishness...

you know nothing about that poster.... yet you call a foolish remark with your propaganda to discredit him.

Likewise, you know nothing of that you speak so dismiss it as foolishness to discredit the concept.

A fool laughs at knowledge, let alone discredits someone or something he knows nothing of.

However, you'd have to think first to call it knowledge. Something you have clearly done little of without the opinions given to you.

    You wanna know something?

Yes. Please enlighten me.... I'm awaiting profound wisdom...

When 'prohibition' ends I am gonna set up shop in front of your kids' school and sell them drugs..

Sure, I will teach my children so she can choose for herself... isn't that the idea of freedom of choice? But sure, you can dictate.... besides, you'll have the criminals continue sell drugs instead. No problem there,eh?

    Not feeling comfortable ,do you?

Not feeling comfortable, are you? That's what you mean to say...

So 'legalising it' not such a good idea after all..

Wow, conclusive evidence and strong reasoning. Well done.

By the way have you ever met a drug user with an 'expanded conciousness'?

Uhmm, well, more open minded than the likes of yourself yes.... better spelling and reasoning too. Also, can use spell check.

    Yeah..exactly..

    Exactly what?

    What a racket..

Grow up...drugs suck..well.. so does alcohol and cigarettes if you ask me..

Why are they legal? That's a topic for another thread.

You know what really sucks..... taking away people's right to choose.... right to education... right to think for themselves... and taking away their families and preach of 'doing the right thing'. There are drugs in your kitchen doing much more harm than you would like to be aware of...

I wouldn't even wish that on you. :D Have a nice day, brother.

  16. No..........Another drug/child abandonment story, legalizing drugs will not make a person like this more responsible it will just give her more reason and excuse in her mind not to live up to her responsibility.. People addicted to drugs aren't known for their sense of reality nor responsibility, just how to get their next fix even if that means leaving their child with strangers or depriving them of food to have the money to purchase more drugs...

Please explain how taxing and regulating then etc. is going to elevate that problem in the slightest?? It hasn't worked for either tobacco nor alcohol it's just brought it out front more and lined the pockets of the police and governments in the form of fines etc.. You're going to solve the worlds budget problems on the back of junkies?? That's even more pathetic an approach..

Wait... the problem is not the person, it's the behavior; both the habit and the separation from the baby.

The problem is that the incarceration led her to being separated from her baby. That's a problem of drug prohibition.... bust up a family just cause someone wants to get high? Now the child has to suffer without a mother while she is locked up for the next however long. It does not solve her dependency issues and now the child suffers. This gets worse, not better for anyone.

If, on the other hand, she had taken alcohol or tobacco or some legal prescription drugs and likewise was addicted, would it have led to the separation of the family in the immediate, or long term future???? No. At least otherwise she had a chance of ending her habit and keeping her family intact.... or an educational based program where she could keep the baby and fix the bad habit.

Of course, forget the fact that education plays the major role in all of this..... as does brainwashing about illicit drug dangers (not related to the problems caused by being caught); based on the economic motives of pharmaceutical, tobacco and alcohol industries.

Surely, forget enough fundamental information, you can convince yourself of anything.... especially the dark ages war against [illegal] drugs which statistically are associated with lower mortality rates than SUGAR, ALCOHOL and TOBACCO. Please don't tell me these are not under the blanket term 'drugs'.

How much bad must be done in the name of good?

  17. send them to the gallows !!!

Beat them to within an inch of their lives with a copy of the daily mail!

Yeah gallows and beatings will do a lot. I feel safer already. I wont worry anymore.

Right.... Everything is safe now. What would we do if we couldn't lock everyone up??

Let me save some of you future posting......

    Burn them!

    Torture them!

    Lock them up!

    whip them!

    Behead them!

Rot in hel_l! Rot in hel_l!

Miss anything?? Oh, the real issues underlying drug use? Drug prohibition that is a complete failure which encourages high prices and desire....? Nope. (Just erase the competition and maintain a monopoly.... much easier).
