Webfact does what a checkout line tabloid has to do to get readership. Always grab a piece of news by the most sensationalistic angle, regardless whether that angle covers the rule or the exception. With matters regarding gender roles within the LGBTQ group, which is by nature rife with confusion, webfact would add a few potholes here and there to make sure readers have ground to sow their own biases. Case in point:

Bias One : "one of whom now wants to be a man," - "One of whom," Thanadech has already gone through sex change, ie he has long passed the "wants to be a man" stage. In his mind he is now a man (whether the laws agree is another matter.) There's no mention of his girlfriend, the one whose child they are raising together, "now wants to be a man" either.

Bias Two: (they, the couple, are concerned) the bill doesn't effectively mean: they will be legally considered a man and a woman and the legal parents of those children."
This is what Thanadech is quoted as saying in the article"

I want the equal marriage law to be passed. It will make my family complete like any other family of men and women.” Though something might be lost in the translation, "family of men and women" in this context should be understood as "straight family."  Thanadech wants equal rights for his family as those of a straight family. No where did he said that there must be a man and a woman to "make my family complete."

Again, it's splitting hairs. No one cares. They can get married and rhats all that matters. The rest is woke BS.

Thailand also prides itself as the land of Smiles, but you need to look closer. ..

Anyway what webfact posted is a very brief article, however true to form is chokeful of loose-ends and choppy statements so that opinions could be easily misconstrued (or maybe that's the intention - as often the case with this news outlet)- and spun away.

Right at the top,  "Fears of discrimination in Thailand" is a misleading title.
Sweating out the details, tweaking the blueprint of a bill about marriage equality is the opposite of fears. Had there been fears this bill would not have gotten to where it is today. But stoking "Fears" is irresistible, it "sells newspapers" you see...

The whole article is just unnecessary fear-mongering and the headline is clickbait, if you ask me. The Thais won't have a problem with gay marriage, regardless of wording.

They have adopted a smart system which works quite well in Spain.

People allowed to grow weed and social clubs means that drug dealers will be bypassed. Less trafficking and less associated criminality.

No need any more to be in contact with bad guys (bad guys who may also propose hard drugs). Only contacts between nice people in social clubs.

On top of it, the police can focus on real crimes instead of losing their time with cannabis users.

The reason why the law is stupid is this:

You're allowed to grow three plants simultaneously, but as soon as you harvest them, you're allowed to possess only 50 grams in total. If you give a plant what it needs, it will produce anywhere from 300 to 750 grams depending on the strain. Anything above 50 grams you will have to dispose of because you're neither allowed  to sell it, give it away or offer it to your friends to consume while they visit you!

Now let's apply that logic to alcohol. Imagine the smallest amount of beer you could buy would be a case with 20 bottles, which is legal to buy in a supermarket, but as soon as you leave the market, you're allowed to own only three bottles, which means you have to pour the other 17 down the drain outside the market because you can't sell it, give it away or offer it to anyone to drink!

It's just <deleted> stupid! Why is there a limit on how much cannabis I can have to begin with, when there is non on liquor?! Especially since alcohol does way more damage to an addict and their social environment than any other drug, including heroin!

The other problem is with the cannabis clubs. You can't just become a paying member and receive your monthly allocation. No! You have to actively participate in the club! Plus, you can grow in the club, but you're not allowed to smoke there. Great!

On the other hand, for some strange reason I don't have to participate in brewing beer before I can buy some!

The law is a step in the right direction, but as it stands right now it's 95% silly nonsense!

Lastly, yeah, it will put a dent in black market sales of the already existing black market dealers, but in about 3 months a lot of weed will hit the market because a lot of people want to get rid of their overproduce, so if anything,  even more weed than before will hit the black market, sold by average Joe who just graduated from previous consumer to amateur dealer, replacing the previous black market dealer!

They should've just gone the liquor route with cannabis instead of this silly nonsense!

  4. I would just get them powder coated. First with zink and then any color you want. This will protect them more or less forever. Especially once they're on the roof and covered by the roof because I have a suspicion, if you don't treat them at all that they will eventually rust due to the humidity in Thailand. Alternatively  just paint them yourself with a zink paint and then regular paint suitable for metal.

  5. How many people warn against melatonin and how many do not?

I was recently in a pharmacy in Germany. In front of me was an old woman who asked for melatonin. When he asked her which one she wants because it comes in different concentrations and he didnt have the exact one she wanted in stock, they got into a bit of a discussion in which she mentioned that she has sleeping troubles and since she's been taking the one she asked for she can sleep.

I would do some more research in melatonin in terms of recommended dosage and give it a try.

Having said that, it's a myth that one should sleep for 8 hours straight without waking up. Mist people wake up at least once and that's perfectly normal. I wake up at least once, too  to "drain the sea monster!"

What I also find is, if I'm online all day my brain has no time to think about stuff and as soon as I go to bed all these thoughts about God and the world go through my head, which makes it difficult to fall asleep. If I go offline an hour before I go to bed and read a book I don't have that problem for some reason.

I also think that 25 degrees is probably too hot for a westerner to sleep comfortably, since the ideal temperature apparently is 18 degrees Celsius. Maybe try lowering the temperature to around 21.

If you live in a noisy area, like next to a road or where there's a pack of street dogs living nearby, I'd give ear plugs a try because if they start barking it'll will disturb your sleep as well.

I started using earplugs 2 years ago and never looked back. I sleep better now.

Then it's also possible that you might have sleep apnea because if you sleep on your back your tongue will relax and cover your airway and then you're literally asphixiating until you wake up and take a big breath. This can also lead to heart problems over time/exacerbate an existing one.

I got a taxi from Swampy airport. The driver didn't want to use the meter. I walked away to get another taxi. He called me back and said he would use the meter. He did, but drove in such a roundabout way that the fare ended up as what he had originally wanted. Of course, a tourist new to the country wouldn't know they had been cheated.

    Yeah, that's true.
