  1. The Chinese set up shops in major cities in USA. They were there to spy on their own vacationing nationals and drag the ones back to China that were dissidents in the minds of the Chinese govt. The FBI discovered this and did a sweep thru out, rounded up these Chinese Police and sent them back to China. I can only suspect the real intent being here is the same.
  2. Don't you just love AI and its irony. Robots asking humans to check boxes to prove humans are not robots.
  3. You should ask how much it costs to have a one night Thai girl friend.
  4. ''The flood has led to a home price boom as wealthy middle- class arrivals rent or buy to stay indefinitely on residential visas.'' What da-hell is a residential visa?!?
  5. What I did years ago (America) was booked the round trip, came and did 2 30 day extentions, but within the first 30 days, for $200 charge, moved the return flight up to the date that was 90 days after flight to Th. On the 4 trip, to stay in country on retirement stamp, I notified the airlines that I wanted to open extend the return trip. For $200. they gave me a 1 yr extension.
  6. you forgot the customary 30,000 thb to the next of kin plus a lateral move to another province
  7. My Grandson booked his flight out of Bkk 4 days after his tourist visa expired. So, before it expired, I took him to the Consulate and asked for an extension. They gave him a 60 day extension. I have a good friend in Immigration here in Chiang Mai and she told me if ever, anyone has an issue, it is always easier on them to to voluntarily go to Immigration. So far in 8yrs in C.M. everyone has told me that held true for them.
  8. First joke I heard from a Thai guy was about how American robbers are lo-so and Thai robbers are hi-so because Thai robbers were uniforms.????
  9. sorry, didnt know you were in BKK, which has a lot of moat. They are called canals.
  10. Isuzu now does all the work on Chev. and the dealerships are well trained in servicing them.
  11. Chevrolet made arrangements with all the Isuzu dealerships to service all Chevrolet vehicles. Isuzu is best qualified for this because years ago before General Motors built their own plants in Thailand, they had Isuzu build Chevrolets. Before the G.M. plants opened, there was no visual difference between Isuzu and Chev trucks except for the badges.
  12. I'll stir the pot; its volcanic activity heating up the underground water. Soon he will have his own steam bath.
  13. In 16 yrs here, I have found they do us a favor. They have refused to take folks to specific locations at specific times because of heavy traffic. The long delays between red lights, bumper to bumper car crawl increases the fare. Those meters run on time and distance driven.
  14. A question we should be asking is, Why arent they being arrested for working without a work permit?
  15. If memory serves right, it closed down X#of years ago. The newest one is on 500 yr. Rd close to Ruamchok intersection.
  16. Dont take offense, but could it be they both were afraid to share such feelings with you? Fear of your reaction, or over reaction?
  17. Ok, I did google it. Lo and behold' Good Fats, Bad Fats :: Diabetes Education Online (ucsf.edu) Good Fats vs. Bad Fats: Get the Skinny on Fat (webmd.com)
  18. If you have transportation, I would price condos outside the tourist zone, around the moat, aka old town. You may find better deals around super highway 21.
  19. Years ago, I overstayed my visa by 2 months. With great fear, I went to a Visa service and escorted their rep. down to immigration. A high ranking officer talked with the Rep. for a while, then gave me a thorough tongue lashing, putting the fear of God in me and my wife. I was allowed to extend my visa. A saving grace was the immigration officer dropped her jaw when she saw that I had just done my 90 day a month after my visa expired. The lady behind the counter at that time, never looked at my visa stamp. Turned out to be a mistake on their part as well as mine. Because of that, I was not charged fines. It pays to go to immigration up front and admit guilt. It pays further to have a visa Rep. From that point on, I pay visa service to do the work for me. Cost a chunk of money but all stress eliminated. For me that is money well spent.
