  1. Go past the turning for Immigration (on your left) and the BBK Bank branch is around 5kms further on, again on your left. Might be a bit further, but not much. I've been using it for the last 5 years and never had a problem.
  2. I come up from Pakchong too. I get my letter from the BBK Branch about 10 mins from the Imm Office in Korat. I try to get there for 8.30 and depending on queues I can be out of there before 9. So 9.15 is probably a good time to get there.
  3. Thanks. My renewal is due end of Feb so I'll give it a go. As an aside, does anyone know if Korat still requires the Bank letter to be dated the same day as application? Bit of a pain as it means the earliest I can get there is near 9.30. Getting the letter the previous day would mean I'd have a fighting chance of getting out of there before lunch!
  4. I went on an island hopping boat trip off Rayong a few weeks ago. We stopped to do some snorkeling where the Thai guy in charge of the boat was encouraging people to stand on the coral so he could take pictures. My wife asked him if it could damage the coral, he just laughed and said never mind! I didn't participate.
  5. COD sorts everything. Even if they have the "packed" malarkey, just refuse delivery 10 weeks later!
  6. Here in Pakchong the yellow book is somewhat useful. People without one need to go to immigration or their embassy to get a residency certificate. Sounds like there are many different interpretations of the requirements depending on where you live.
  7. In Pakchong last year they would not accept the yellow book. I needed to take the yellow book to the amphur and get a residence certificate - painless, 5 minute job. They also didn't care that I had a pink ID. My licenses have always been linked to my passport, and I was told that if I wanted them linked to the pink ID card then I would need to start again from scratch. Maybe just here.
  8. I've had a basic Philips for almost 6 years. Bulletproof. The detachable basket aids cleanup as does using wax paper inners. As far as cooking....chips come out great, frozen and homemade, just spay some oil on first. Chicken pieces cook quickly and are perfectly moist. Sausages, bacon fish all come out perfect. My Thai wife loves it. All just my opinion, of course.
  9. Another good online option is EYEBUYDIRECT. I've used them a few times. Way cheaper than 20K for better quality. Last pair arrived 8 days after order.
  10. You need to bite new shoes. Or they will bite you by giving blisters.
  11. I've used the same ones for the last 3 years at Korat. No problems. Will probably get a new set next year as my son will be decidedly bigger....and the chihuahua no longer a puppy!
  12. I've been using this one for the last 3 years. It's perfect for every day use. Speed is good - even streamed live sports on occasion. Never got close to using the monthly limit. https://www.lazada.co.th/products/i1197528705-s2854048248.html?urlFlag=true&mp=1
  13. I have a 9 year old son. From day 1 (hospital) he has been in a child seat. This is the third one. I cannot fathom why parents would not protect their kids... He goes to an OK private school. In all the years I have dropped him off I have only ever seen 1 car seat used by a Thai parent.
  14. This a tough one for me. Both my wife and I are fully vaxed so I am not anti. I have an 8 year old son and until very recently I had absolutely no intention of getting him vaccinated. I believed that children were almost immune - either couldn't easily get it or if they did they were generally asymptomatic. There were pretty much no reports of deaths or serious illnesses. I was also concerned about the lack of testing that had been done on anyone 18 and below. I am beginning to come around as more data becomes available but I am still firmly on the fence at this point.
  15. I guess you tick the incorrect data box and add additional documents?
  16. As I mentioned above, I had a Moderna booster Monday. The details were on Mor Prom the next day. Unfortunately under a different ID so I have 2 Mor Prom accounts.......
  17. Thanks. I think I am destined to have Mor Prom for my AZ supported by a copy of my Moderna documentation if required in Thailand. I have no plans to travel internationally in the near term and will cross that bridge..... It's my own fault. I've been here long enough to not assume anything when it comes to Thai bureaucracy. I'll keep plugging away at the hospital by email and maybe they'll get bored with me and fix it. It would be nice if there was a central body that supported the app.
  18. Slightly off topic but anyone have any ideas on how to merge 2 Mor Prom logon IDs? I had 2 AZ last year in Bangkok and was allocated a 13 digit number and was able to access my Vaccination details on Mor Prom. Recently had a Moderna booster (paid for) and was allocated a different 13 digit number! My fault as I should have shown them my previous details when I was boosted, but assumed (I know!) that it would all be tied to my passport number. Apparently not. I have emailed the Moderna hospital asking for help but so far no reply. It's a 4+ hour round trip (I live up country) so would prefer not to drive back. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  19. In Pakchong I have always renewed my license using passport and confirmation of address from my local amphoe (free). This year I decided to bite the bullet and get a yellow book/pink ID. I went to renew my license a month ago and was told that I still needed an address confirmation and that if I wanted to change from using my passport number to pink ID number (as License ID) I would need to start again, i.e the full test. On a side note. Went into my Bangkok Bank branch recently to open a FX account and was told I needed an address confirmation from Immigration. I whipped out my Pink ID and yellow book which made no difference. Still needed address confirmation. I get the account eventually but only after the manager personally vouched for me. Struggling to see any real benefits.
  20. I had the same problem with Netflix so I called BKK Bank. They could not tell me why the debit had been declined, although I'm sure they can as there will surely be some kind of rejection code on file. I suspected it was tied to the recent fraud issues. The call centre rep assured me someone would call me back with a full explanation - they didn't. The message from Netflix had a "try again button" so in frustration I hit it and the payment went through immediately! Will be interesting to see if I get the same problem this month.
  21. Anyone know if the "any day up to the 14th" includes Saturday and Sunday, or just weekdays?
