  1. PEP is Post Exposure Prophylaxis, PrEP is Pre Exposure Prophylaxis. Either require you follow a specific protocol. (HIV) PrEP can be taken on demand and requires a double dose with 24h prior to exposure followed by one dose a day while active followed by two doses after the last exposure. Don't use without medical supervision anyway. If you have a good health cover you'll get a refund. "Commercial" kind of insurances might not as some pointed out. The Thai medical system makes them available to Thais. OP is quite happy with the Red Cross. A good ol'fashioned .....thank you for the info.
  2. Very interesting, but I would like advice from here... rather than google. What is the difference between PEP and PrEP ? Are these pills taken before or after sex ? Do I need a doctor's prescription from a clinic / hospital ? Where are these available in Pattaya and are they expensive ? Thanks, and forgive my ignorance as I've never heard of these medicines before (hetro, but an old,old man).
  3. What are the rules at Jomptien Immigration regarding my return to Thailand after a brief UK visit? My current OA (retirement) visa is valid until Feb 2025, with an already registered TM 30. I also have a single exit/re-entry stamp. Do I have to go immediately to Jomptien and re-register my address? Sorry to have to ask yet another simple question, but after 18 years of renewing my 'retirement' visa I now have brain fog with the constant-inconsistent churn of rules.
  4. The Immigration Police (and their visa agency companies) wouldn't vote for this. A loss of many millions of under the table baht.
  5. There was an erudite poster named Mobi (rip) who did a great job researching and sharing usufruct info with a thread in Real Estate, Housing, House and Land Ownership. I did a quick search on here, but I gave up. Maybe someone can find the thread. Good luck
  6. Why Do Men From Scotland Come to Thailand to Find a Girlfriend? That's easy.... younger available women. When you are in your 50s/60s there is little chance of getting off with a woman half your age. Due to the welfare state, there is little need for sugar daddies in the UK. Most would not be seen dead with an old man. Easier to live here in Pattaya where judgement is limited, and boom-boom, yum-yum and ow-ow is unlimited.
  7. Too many plastic posters mate. Being paid to post might make the forums seem busy. But they are frauds. They are imposters. Do 'you' think we can't recognise their continual drivel? Do 'you' think we are all fools? Thanks for the Visa section, nearly the only thing worth visiting........... IMHO of course.
  8. Gordon Bennet!! We are talking about my elderly people here.. with lesser agile minds and bodies. My phone is a Motorola bought here and powered by True move. So can't change network, but I will try using WiFi calling. If all fails we will go to TucCom Thanks for the helpful ideas.
  9. I have a visitor who came with only a 'Lebara' UK sim and no phone. I can't get the sim to work in my Thai phone. Any ideas folks? What to do?
  10. "You might learn the complexities of the language before speaking of things you know nothing of." Wow ....big wordies... yet another posting 'bot perhaps?
  11. What a contrived article. The word Noo may also mean rat. In our village I personally know dozens of Khun Noos, Phee Noos and Nong Noos. Of both sexes. They are all addressed as Noo. Alas, no fisticuffs yet.
  12. Money is number one in Pattaya. How many times have you heard that? Maybe use it to your advantage, and all these administration problems will just dissapear. p.s. No need to thank me.
  13. Happy New Year folks, maybe I shouldn't butt in here as there are some very good visa info specialists onboard. Are you sure-sure the 800k funds is NOT required to be shown came from abroad? I've always thought the K-bank letter I've presented to Chonburi Immigration for the past 15 years had to show - (a) the amount on deposit (b) for how long it's been there and (c) it's inward remittance?
  14. To be more specific, it was a one year extension of stay based upon retirement. In 2019 I left with a valid one year 'retirement' visa and a single re-entry permit. Due the uncertainties of travel at the beginning of 2020, I decided to stay in UK. When all entry restrictions were lifted in 1st July this year I returned to Thailand in September. All my previous visa stuff was by now expired. I had taken the opportunity to get a new passport in the UK and as my 800k has been in the bank for many years, I was issued with a fresh 'retirement' visa. As I'm no spring chicken anymore, I'm was anxious about changes in the immigration system whilst being away. Thanks for the always helpful replies.
  15. I would guess most of us residents came here to escape the nosey- busy- bodies?
  16. On my return from the UK after 30 months I went to Jomptien where I obtained my new 'retirement' visa with no problems. However I was surprised by the proof of address request which even has its own room. ( jam packed full of people ! ) I now feel a little bit out of touch with the required paperwork for the forth coming 90 day report and also a single re-entry stamp. Could somebody please provide up-to-date info regarding the required paperwork etc ?
  17. Tasted these PrimeBuggers in Central Mall ages ago. Seems to be more and more mercenary posters on here. Some have a target number of posts each day to earn a wage, others are promoting their own businesses.
  18. Unfortunately, Thailand doesn't do the shame thang. Same as our own 'elected' governments.
  19. Thanks for an info update. I remember your cartoons mostly from the urinals in Queen Vic 5555.
  20. OK this is for the general public not just the stoners ;)) In the open air venues where smoking tobacco has been normalised, are people also enjoying spliffs? Is there any friction from staff or a fear of flip-flopping authorities? I usually indulge whilst taking my dogs for a walk, so just askin'.....
  21. Thanks for the replies, also found OSH at that Paddies Bar at Lake Mapbrachan A new venue for me as it didn't exist when I left here 2020.
  22. Well that went down the page quicker than a tenth-floor turd heading for Pattaya Bay didn't it? Are there no players left in the city? What about the Darkside?
  23. Well I'm finally back in the village after 30 months exile in the UK. Who cares some may ask? Many, many Thais might the answer. So where in Pattaya can I buy brown beer / ale / bitter ? It used to be available on draught at Retox Soi Honey, the Queen Vic Soi 6 also the Sportsman had bottles Any update please?
  24. Not for the first time on here, I can recommend Maryvit. My daughter went there from Kindergarten (age 3) until end of 3rd year (age 15). Good caring teachers and plenty of homework. Also an excellent swimming pool. There has been a lot of construction over the years and traffic used to be horrendous. My daughter and friends all went to another school for their final 3 years before university. Attached photo in 2015 = happy kids
  25. Great informative post from Mr Fairfield. It cuts through all the moving goalposts and bs of the many 'Entry into Thailand' threads. If the post was beer it would probably be Carlsberg. btw The UK press today is full of Thai beach photos and lazy journalism. **Thailand now open - No quarantine**
