ThaiVisa is a good first stop for newbies and tourists. You'll find that those of us who've been here a while have moved on to sites that specialise in social networking for long term expats.

Does anybody know the opening closing times of immigration at the friendship bridge ?
I'll be arriving in Nong Khai from Udon Thni after 7pm so wonder if it's worth continuing on to Vientiene.

What about "The Ship" up the road from the Riverside. Used to drink there in the early 80's.
Howard from the Welshman's bar was english.

Deuntemduang Na Chiang Mai she's number 1 on the signs. Her opponent is ex mayor Boonlert. He's number 4 I think. The guy with the specs. Yes he was the hero who waded out into the floods for a photo op. Very smart when he should have prevented the flood in the first place. There's a few other also runs including a chinese fellow called Saetieo who'se promising to give old age pensioners 500bht every month. My wife says she laughs every time one of his loud speaker trucks goes past as his name sounds very like the kum muang for "take your trousers off".
Citylife had a decent interview with the outgoing and I hope returning mayor.
i could be mistaken, but I thought Boonlert wasnt running, but his cousin is as Boonlert has a 5 year ban or something
Yes you're correct, his cousin is acting as his stooge. The chap with the glasses I think is Nim See Seng. Anyone know ?

I don't know what kind of trouble you're trying to cause. The fellow was only asking for advice.

What do you intend to do with your old house ?

You should ask for a large discount on account of the resident ghost.

Super definately sounds a bit gay.
Tell that to Lois Lane
Need I remind you that Superman wears his underpants outside of his trousers.

Moderators work on specific forums.
Super Moderators have access to, and work on all forums in Thai Visa.
The default board title is actually "Global Moderator" so perhaps that will make it more clear as to the function.
Super definately sounds a bit gay. I presumed it was some kind of code.

Just a question...
You know on the X-Files everybody was a Special Agent, not an Agent a Special Agent. How come every moderator in this place is a Super-Moderator, not a Moderator, but a Super-Moderator ?

Excellent idea as always George. I suggest a modest fee of 500 baht/month. That will help to keep the riff raff out.

Interesting discussion on this ESL website. Start from page 7 onwards. Includes someone who reported him to the police after seeing the pictures.

A lot of folks in the service industry recieve either a very low salary or no salary at all so tipping is good manners in many places. The problem for the foreigner is figuring out where and when. Car park attendants at restaurants are usually unpaid. Normal tip of 20 baht is ok. 100 cars a night x 20 = 2000baht

I'd rather keep my feet on the ground, so can't help you there.
And after reading on their website about This naturally Beautiful site is the home to a wide range of animals which you are free to play with while watching the action ... I will stay wide away from any of the Jungle Bungy Jump and the Monkey center. Plain disgusting!
http://www.monkeyworld.co.uk/topic.php?Top...mplate=standard... In Chaing Mai they went to the “Monkey Training School” where they found several dozen macaques, mostly pig-tailed macaques (Macaca nemestrina), and two lar gibbons (Hylobates lar). The conditions for these animals were terrible. They were tied to posts and hardly able to move. Both of the species listed above are native to Thailand. ...
Nienke
The whole setup is quite disgusting, as is the state of the animals. All they have succeeding in doing is completely ruining a beautiful part of Chiangmai with an eyesore of a crane jib, and as far as "operating to overseas New Zealand standards"......tell me when anything like this in Thailand has even been remotely interested safety standards when profits are involved.
You only have to look at the fatalities from the last two Doi Suthep cable car "accidents"
What the hel_l are you moaning about MM ? Did Ian fail to pay you your commision.
Anyway this thread rings of "TROLL" advertising for the X-centre which has a great Bungy Jump over a large pond. Located up the Mai Sa valley road a few klicks north of Chiang Mai. Not that I'd do it, afraid of heights but he has a bar where you can sit and watch.

Pizza
in Chiang Mai
My husband and I tried Georgio's about 4 months ago...SOOOO good. The best pizza we had ever had, and it meets the requirements of the OP.Agree Georgio's is now my favourite Italian in Chiang Mai. The problem is getting a table, make a reservation or you'll be out of luck.

BIG. BIG game coming up tonight.
C'mon Ireland send the Frenchies home
France 29 Ireland 3.
Ireland struggled with very poor forward play. The French were reasonable, but the match was spoiled by the stop start refereeing. Anyway Ireland on the way home early as the Pumas should beat them.

Pizza
in Chiang Mai
^Cheap charlies
Buonissimo has the pizza's requested and good value too. Got to laugh at the poster who suggested Dukes. That's not a pizza more like quiche.

I have recently read a book that has all of you in it..Literally..
Great read BTW. here's a review.
Fast Eddie's Lucky 7 A-Go-Go by David Young
If you've washed up in Thailand and are wondering where the hel_l your life is going, you'll probably wish that you knew someone like Fast Eddie, proprietor of the Lucky 7 A-Go-Go and affable svengali to a rag-tag band of Chiang Mai English teachers who struggle to be decadent on 30,000 baht a month.
In the wake of a near-fatal heart attack, however, Fast Eddie's priorities change and his fun-loving friends are horrified to discover that he now questions the wisdom of his lurid sex-pat lifestyle. His surprise decision to sell the bar precipitates a complex web of intrigue.
Could this be based on "Fast Eddie" from The Escape? Never heard it described as a Go Go bar.

Anyone know of a dump near Mai Rim ?

If you have more details than this such as where he was staying, you may wish to contact the British Consul in Chiang Mai.
