  1. Thanks for your info. I don't think that I made myself clear. I have been living at my present Thai  residence for about a year and have done two 90 day notices so far. But I am planning to move to a new location. If and when I move to a new apt./condo, I am wondering if a need any evidence that I really have been living at my present address. It would seem that Immigration wouldn't require any evidence that I have been living at my present address when moving to a new address because they already have that information.  But I want to be fully prepared in any event. I know what documentation is needed for the new address. Thanks again.

  2. My contract finishes September 30th of this year but I will be resigning on June 31st. Actually, I will have competed one year of work on June 31st, 2017 having started on July 1st, 2016 but the company I work for stipulates that all new contracts must begin on October 1st. So when I started working last year on July 1st,  I signed a contract for three months. I then had to sign a new one-year contract the last week of September, This contract was obviously for Oct.1st 2016 to Sept.30th. 2017. Since I am going to resign on June 30th, 2017 I am wondering what my visa extension options are. Can I apply for a retirment visa and how much time do I have. My colleagues told me my employer always returns the work permit to the Labor Department on the day someone resigns. I think I can get a one -week extension. Since I am married to a Thai, registered marriage, and she has a house with a proper house registration I will be moving to live with her on a permanent basis in Buriram.  So I will  probably apply for the retirement extension  in Buriram and submit my proof of address at the same time. But I am afraid of all the rushing around and bot getting everything ready for Buriram Immigration is such  short period of time.I am also wondering if it would be easier to apply for the retirment extension in Sir Ratcha as soon as my work permit is returned. But  I will no longer be living in Chonburi  and Sri Racha Immigration will require a one-year rental agreement.

I am also wondering if I can get a 6-month extention for wife support. I don't know much about this extention but it has appeared on this forum.

If I do a border crossing into Laos for a possible tourist visa or Non-O based on marriage, will Thai Immigation question me as to why I an cancelling my Non-O work visa/extention before it is completed.

One more question. When  my work permit is returned on June 30th, and I don't leave the country, I will be here illegally. But I have read on this forum that if you fly out of Thailand instead of making a border crossing,  Immigration will not question you as long as you are out before October 1st since my Non-O in my passport is good until September 30th, 2017.

So apparently I can stay here for threemore months but not legally.

    Thanks for reading.

  3. Thanks Ubonjoe. Actually, I am presently working in Thailand but was just curious as my contact will be up before long. Buriram is where I'll be retireing and living with my Thai wife. We are legally married, haave a house and could apply for a marriage visa but the retiremnt visa seems easier. I have enough U.S. social security and money in the bank for a retirement visa.  I had a reitement visa last year but after one year I was offered a job a took it. Thanks again.

  4. I went to Sriracha Immigation for my Non-B one year extension. The company secretary came with me along with a pile of company documents. I then went to the 90-day reporting section with my rental agreement and a signed copy of the owner's condo registration and his ID card. ( this was my first 90 day report since I moved to this new location three months ago with a three-month Non-B visa)They told me it was not enough and asked me to telephone the condo-apartment  manager and have her come to immigration with aTM 30. I went to get her and brought her back to immigration. They scolded her for not having reported me with the TM 30 when I first moved in. They then fined her 800 Baht.

  5. I recently got a 3-month Non-B visa from Laos to work at a university in Thailand I will be going to immigration with a pile of documents from the university to extend the visa for one year. The administration at work told me to be sure to take proof of residence when I go to immigration but did not elaborate as to what forms I need. There seems to be many conflicting stories as to what I have to show the immigration officials. I have been in country for five weeks with my Non-B and have been staying with friends and at hotels and at my wife's house (which is far from where I am working and I will not be living there while I am working). I have just moved into a condominium where I plan to live for the duration of my contract at work. Exactly what documents do I need to take to immigration? A rental agreement? In Thai or English? The condo owner's house registration or deed for the condo signed by him? The condo staff said they are unable to locate the owner. Can the condo administration provide proof of residence? If so, would I need to download forms from immigration for the condo staff to fill out and sign? Thanks.

  6. I had a retirement extension which was going to expire on June 30th. My 90-day notice was due on June 27th. I exited Thailand on the 27th to go to Suwannakhet to apply for a Non-B Visa. Got the visa, no problem. When I came back to Thailand the next day I went to Jomthien immigration( where I have been doing my 90-day reporting for the last 15 years) and asked the avuncular Thai immigration official who sits at the far right of the 90-day reporting table if I needed to report my 90-day thing now or should I wait 90 days since I have a new visa and I had left the country which cancelled my retirement extension. He said there is no need to do the 90-day report now since you left the country and have a new visa. He told me wait 90 days and then report. He then pointed to my new Non-B visa in my passport and told me I should report 90 days from the entrance date of my new visa.

I am posting this because numerous expats that I consulted told me the opposite is the case and contradicted what the immigration official had said. I hope the immigration official is right.

  7. I am changing my address because I have a new job and my new employer told me that I will have to submit my application documents for my Non-B extension to Sir Ratcha Immigration and my new employer also told me that Sri Ratcha Immigration will want some kind of proof of residence which probably means a copy of the house registration or rental agreement. I guess I should fill out a Form 28 and or a From 47 as well as the rental agreement or house registration. Before this, I had been doing my 90-day reporting at Jomthien. Will be moving to my new address withing a week or two.

  8. I have just changed from a retirement extension to a Non B visa and will be working for a Thai company. My Thai employer told me that when I take the company documents to Thai immigration to extend my Non B for the duration of the contract I will need a copy of the house registration of the condo I am going to move into signed by the landlord. Is that all i need? What exactly will satisfy Thai immigration to show proof of residence. Do I not need a rental agreement or lease? The condo management is also having difficulty locating the landlord of the condo I am going to stay in. I negotiated everything through the condo manager. I think I will eventually get in touch with the landlord. What if I can't get a copy of the house registration or cannot contact the landlord in time? Are there other options? Thanks.

  9. I didn't know that you could change from a tourist visa to a Non-B without having to leave the country. This is certainly not the case with a retirement extension. I am presently on a retirement extension and have secured a job and I am getting ready to go to Laos with all of my paper work for the Non-B which will allow me to work. Maybe it would be easier for me to jump over a border and then come back on a tourist visa and then apply in Thailand for the Non-B rather then spend three days travelling to and staying in Laos. It is probably unreasonable though and Immigration might get suspicious. Any comments?

  10. I have been teaching in Thailand for many years, was made redundant last year and I am soon going to Suwannakhet, Laos to apply for a non-b visa for a university teaching job I was recently hired for.The university assured me that they have provided me with all the necessary documents for the visa but the university said nothing about a police clearance certificate and they have many foreign teachers working at the university. Is the police clearance certificate really required? The information required for the police clearance certificate all looks rather tedious and complicated and very time consuming.

  11. I think I finally got to the required documentation needed. According to what I read, I need:

"a certified document that I used to work in Thailand or that I am now residing in Thailand" 

" Letter from the Embassy for Request check to objectives ".

"For work -Hire Contract/Work permit/Job offer from the employer company -Letter guarantee from the employer company".

    And then,

" An applicant must present and hand in all the relevant documents at our Office". Presumably this is at the Police Clearance Service Center in Pratumwan, Bangkok.

Would anyone happen to know what I have to do to get the required certified copies?

    Thanks very much.

  12. I clicked onto the website for the police clearance certificate and it is totally incomprehensible. Some things I click onto don't come up. and it is not at all clear what I am supposed to do. I am not blaming you Ubonjoe and I am thankful for your info. Can I just go to Thai immigration and get a form and pay the 100 Baht? This is completely new to me after all these years of doing visas and work permits. Maybe my new employer will know something about this.

Well, I am glad I found out before going to Laos and then being told I have to go back to Thailand and get a police clearance certificate. Anyway, thanks for the info.

  13. I have recently applied for a job in Thailand but I am on a retirement extension and my Thai employer told me that I cannot change my retirement extension into a non-o visa that would allow me to apply for a job. My employer has provided me with a stack of papers to take to the Thai Consulate in Laos. I have done this before in Vientiane a few years back without difficulty. This time I am going to Suvaneket, across from Mukthahan because it is near my home. I was wondering what application form I will need to apply for the non-o. Can I get one from Jomthien or do I have to get one from the consulate in Laos. Can I go online and print it. And can I get a visa at the border or do I have to apply in advance.Would I need anything else besides a copy of my passport, employer documents, and photos. Thanks.

  14. What do you mean 'showing movement of money'. I thought 800,000 Baht was enough to show for a retirement visa. So it must be in a saving account? The Immigration people seem to be coming down very hard on expats who are doing retirement visas at Kap Choeng. An expat in Surin told me you cannot be a day late for your 90 day thing or else you will be finded.

  15. Has anyone been asked to provide proof of residence when doing their standard 90- reporting. If so what is required. I have not been asked for anything for a long time. Only when I applied for a retirement extension did they ask for proof. Normally, I just take my passport, and they type something in their computer, and then attach a piece of paper in the back of my passport and I am off.

  16. When I applied for my retirement stay (visa) they asked for proof of residence/address.I showed then a back statement with my mailing address but they would not accept it. I then showed them my car insurance policy which had my address on it since it was mailed to me. This would not do but they then asked if I had a copy of my drivers license which I just so happened to have. They accepted that and I was on my way.
