10 months have passed since the last post in this thread.
has anyone made experience change a CR-V to gas?

ToT has a glassfibre cable to that resort, from there its copperwires to other compunds.

besides much easier parking possibilities Tesco Pranburi has much longer opening times. the selection of grocery, meat and even imported stuff is much better the Tesco Hua Hin. And their shelves for these items are not halfempty like often seen in HH. I even found apple cidre in Pranburi which I never saw in HH. Sour cream and cottage cheese mostly on stock in Pranburi.

My mate's visa is a non-imm "B".
Does anyone know if that makes any difference at all as opposed to an "O"
Thanks
The embassy could probably answwer that when he applies for letter. It is my impression a foreigner can buy a vehicle on a tourist visa. We donot have to be resident.
I bought and registered my car on a TV in 07/2010. No problem at all. Letter of address from immigration was necessary.

I registered my car in Hua Hin on tourist visa + adress confirmation from immigration (july 2010). No problem at all.

When i got my jazz on the 13th this month they told me it would only take 1 month for new plates. We will see im curious if they are right.
My CR-V was handed over the same day as yours. We also had been told 1 month.
So lets see how long it both takes us to get the white places.
Might be different by province, mine is Prachuap. Whats yours?

I have recently obtained my years extension based on marriage. I am just trying to find a solution for next year where I can use the Bangkok Bank, for example, for better interest rates and retain my existing Bank which pays a lousy interest rate but clears my Pension cheque quickly. Thai Banks require 35 to 45 days for foreign cheques which is crazy in this electronic age! Basically if I have around Baht 400,000:- tied up in a Bank the interest rate should at least be reasonable
Cheques from abroad take endless time as they will be returned to the issueing bank abroad. Try if your pension fund can TT the amount or cash the cheque abroad and TT yourself.

I am wondering how fixed deposits at a thai bank are counted towards the 800,000 THB.
scenario:
saving deposit with 600k, on account more then a year
plus fixed deposit 1million, fixation period 9 months which will end approx 4 weeks after the extension of stay application
so both accounts fullfill the 2 respective 3 months request, just the fixed deposit will not be available for immidiate cash, but 4 weeks later it will.

Hi Lopburi,
you are pretty fast in replying, thank you very much for that clarification.
I was just searching this topic in elder posts.
-
thank you very much for the detailled information.
Bytheway: Shanghai embassy does not issue any Non immigrant "O" visa if not married with thai. No matter you are above 50 or not.
-
well, you should be used to such changes in procedure already :-)
thank you for the information.
I ll try my luck there soon for a longstay visa
-
thank you for your prompt reply.
yes, I have residence in China, although I am a foreigner here.

I am not sure what kind of visa I shall apply.
To register my car next month I was told that a non-immi visa shall be necessary.
situation:
recently travelling from China to Thailand once a month for 1 week each until end of the year. Therafter I plan to request the retirement extension.
option 1) single entry non immi visa to fullfill the requirement concerning the car, all further 1week-trips by 30days tourist visa exemption
option 2) multible 1 year non immi visa, which (hopefully) could be changed to a 1 year extension due to retirement
option 3) apply for non immi O-A longstay already now, although still mainly living in China
You suggestions are welcomed.

Foxx I don't believe that I'm the first one that Fairproperties has stolen money, but it does seem odd that I hadn't heard about it before. I obviously would have chosen another company. I had a feeling that something was wrong last year, when I had gotten e-mail acess to my thai bank account. I found out that no money was in the account, but the condos had been rented. Fairproperties said that the person that was in charge of my condos forgot to put the money in my account. Tung the owners wife, I believe said that they were sorry, and it would not happen again. they did deposit that money. They also agreed to have the money put into my account within 7-10 days of receiving it from the client, that promise was never kept. I had to repeatedly e-mail them and have my wife call them to ask them to put the money into my account. Every month it was the same story the person in charge of your account is out sick, they next week their on vacation time off etc. till it was the end of the month then the money was put into my account usually the last week of the month. Now, here we are and they haven't put money owed 2months worth of rental into my account. They ignore my E-mails and don't even respond. You know hind sight is twenty -twenty, that saying applies here. Last year (when they forgot to put my money into my account) a dozen redflags went up, but I ignored them. Now I'm paying for that. Everyone here take warning, Fairproperties is a corrupt organization run by a falang, and they will steal your money. I have learned the hard way ! Take care, David Henault
David, seems you have a copy of my story with FP. I made 100% the same experience and even found last month that my condo was rent out without my knowledge and -of course- no payment to me until today.
Lots of emails with "Laddaporn" saying they will pay me, Em not there, Yupin not available right now etc, no more replies since february 27.

Just taken delivery of a Captiva for my Wife.
I am not easily impressed ,but I am very impressed.
It's first test was driving from CM-BK, it ate the road, even though the highway leaves a lot to be desired the Captiva lapped it up.
It only cost 1,500 baht for the deisel to get there, thats 1,000 cheaper than when I drive my 325i down.
Comfort is first class, and it will cruise easily at 140-160.
We looked at all the SUV options and I am very happy that we chose the Captiva
I would appreciate if you could let me know which execution and engine you have. Please also let me know the value of fuel consumption. Thank you in advance!

Pajero, yes-no. Its quite, similar to Fortuner
I m looking for a fuel efficient, high wheeled car. Offroad and 4WD is not a topic for me.
Does anyone have experience with Ford Escape?
-
We will buy a new SUV in 2010. So far I consider Honda CR-V, Ford Escape or Chevrolet Captiva.
Fortuner is out as too big.
What are your experiences owning one of them in Thailand? Would you buy it again?

ATMs of Kasikorn accepts Union pay (Bank-of-China), no problem to get money. The exchange rate is even much better (~5) then if you change RMB cash.
