I got spoiled many years ago when traveling for the company.  We just gave them our passport and they hired a visa agency to do all the legwork.  It was a couple of hundred $$$, and they'd tell us what documents they needed, what we lacked, etc.  They'd wait in the consulate queues and deal with the frustrations.

So after I started traveling on my own, I still tend to use visa agencies when it's anything but a visa exempt.  They only get paid when I pick up my passport with the visa in it, and they know what they're doing...

I'm not advocating it to everyone, especially if your process has gone swimmingly.  But sometimes, it's worth it to suck it up and pay a pro to solve a problem.

would you consider sending me a PM with the contact info for the visa agency you use? Thanks

Yeah.....think I was referring to the 20 yr option. Actually also applies to the 5 year purchase.

A mate of mine obtained the dreaded "jack dancer".

He basically packed up and returned to Oz.

Various reasons the most significant was health care.

Think in that thread I suggested that you can possibly sell your PE.

Think ubonjoe posted that only certain PE visas can be sold.

If I was considering a PE, I would certainly include that in my decision.

never heard of selling it. Thanks.

Bring it up in Adobe, the hit File>Save As> and select JPG as the file type. It may depend on your Acrobat version though. Another option is to print your documents and then photograph them. You need the printouts for the trip anyway.

Oh, I thought photos were PDFs. Not technologically apt.

Covid 19 has made it more of an effort to enter thee country but is is much less than it was in the past.

If fully vaccinated you only need to stay in a hotel for 1 night to get covid 19 test and then you go where you want to. After 5 days you need submit a negative antigen test.

    Thanks Ubonjoe.

    How old?

PE (elite visa) is a great option for younger folk not eligible for non O retirement.

Waste of dosh if over 50 imo.

    600k for 5 years...Nup.

Better off with 800k in a Thai bank and have agent assist you with extensions.

Way over 50. Didn't know it was $20,000.

It's all the entrance requirements that have me confused at the moment. I used to go two times a year for almost 90 days. I was just hoping for any easy way in but I guess the entrance requirements would stay the same.

Guess I'll wait and see what happens.

    Thanks for your help again.

  6. Sorry, I'm not very good at this. How do I find what the benefits of an Elite Visa are? How much it costs. etc. Everything about thing it.

I'm older and I'm bewildered by everything right now. I'm wondering how much an Elite visa would help make trips easier between the U.S and Thailand.

Thanks for any thoughts and help on this.

Many embassies and official consulates are asking to a ticket out of the country for tourist visa applications now.

It is certainly required to apply on the e visa site.

I believe the OP was asking if he could book the return flight for 90 days out when applying for a 60 day visa. I would also like to know. That's what I did in the pre-Covid days.

    Thanks ubonjoe.

    Ubonjoe,

I am flying by Thai Airways from London to Bangkok on 29th March, but due to the previous weekend, I'm having a serious problem in finding an 72 hour RT-PCR test to match my departure time.  I've just checked Thai Air website update on 28th February and it clearly states as shown on quote below.  This contracts your advice above that PCR test is no longer necessary.  Could you please confirm.

    VACCINATION AND PRE-DEPARTURE TESTING REQUIREMENTS

    Documents required at check-in:
    1. Passport with appropriate validity
    2. Valid visa
     or re-entry permit (if required)
    3. Thailand Pass QR Code (it is strongly advisable to carry a printed copy of this)
    4. Printed medical certificate with an RT-PCR lab result indicating that COVID-19 is not detected, issued within 72 hours before departure
    5. Printed recovery certificate, if applicable (please see section below for more details)

Don't you need a hotel booking with them picking you up at the airport and testing you? And insurance that includes coverage of Covid?

    This is what I used

I went for 30 days as that's enough for the flight dates I have at the moment. They may change later but until I arrive and discuss this with my wife I can't be sure. In your case maybe 60 days would be better but I don't know your circumstances

    Thanks Kimamey

    I used them as well.

It's a bit confusing as I see the name Tune, Tune Protect and Luma. Just search for tune luma thailand pass and scroll down to the link  Luma Thailand Pass - Tune Protect. That seems to work. I'd post a link but I'm not sure if that would be against the rules.

I don't know the connection between Tune and Luma as the names seem to appear together or separately. I'm sure somebody else will know. I have seen other companies recommended on here and elsewhere and may be cheaper but Luma seems ok.

Thanks Kimamey. I assume you mean to search on ASEAN NOW. True? Thanks. It's all confusing to me.

Can't comment on this specific route but I flew Khon Kaen - Phuket in December.

Technically everything OK. As air travel is fairly still quiet (airports, airspace) you wouldn't expect anything bad.

Never experienced weighing of carry-on for domestic flights in Thailand (so same here).

And their pricing policy with "starting price" and adding, adding... leads people to carry bulky heavy stuff on board to save the 300 to 400 Baht surplus for checked baggage.

All I hate is there extreme low cost carrier attitude with the pricing policy.

Making them look cheap at first sight.

Pay for reservation of ordinary seat, paying high for some "better" seat.

Paying for payment is the final extra.

All airlines are hit by Covid restrictions of no onboard service.

Doesn't matter for AirAsia. Not even a bottle of water is free/included under normal conditions.

If ThaiSmile serves the route I prefer them.

Thanks for taking the time for your reply.
