Clearly nobody in the Aseannow office speaks Chinese!
'Tu Hao' is not a nickname but a derogatory Mandarin slang term for a very specific kind of Nouveau Riche businessman, usually one who was until very recently a simply peasant, and who lacks any kind of culture or sophistication.

Do you have any experience you can share?

Is there any way to get a Non-O volunteer visa without having to pay 40,000 baht to an agent?

Agreed, that is why I was asking about long term rentals.

I could only find short videos of their antics on Youtube. I was really looking for something a bit more in-depth, like a full length nature documentary.
Do you have any links like this?

Are there many decent long term rental options in Chiang Saen?
-
I have stopped over a few times in Chiang Saen on the way down from Xishuangbanna and really like the laid back feel of the place, but it has been a while since I was last there.
Is there anybody here already living there? If so, what is it like, and what are the options for retirees in the area?
My thanks in advance.

I have a couple of mynahs nesting in my fire escape. They are fascinating creatures to observe, but I wish I knew more about them. Does anybody know of any useful resources regarding mynah bird behaviour and communication?

No mention of the Burmese gas fields?
Are the stats in this article really reliable?

Does anybody know the songthaew routes and colours in Petchaburi?
How do you get from downtown to Big C for example?
-
Thank you for the replies.
They are the same majestic species that lines the 200 year old Lamphun Road in Chiang Mai. This makes me think, that this stretch near Phetchaburi was also some part of an older route before the main highway was built. It sure looks that way on Google Maps.
-
On the section of highway between Thayang and Phetchaburi, close to Outlet Mall https://www.google.com/maps/place/%E0%B ... 99.9168784, there are lots of incredibly tall trees, that I have rarely seen elsewhere.
Does anybody know what species of tree these are and how so many have managed to survived at this particular location?- 1

How is the outbreak affecting the private jet terminal at Don Mueang? This is usually one of the busiest private plane hubs in the world and I wondered if the one percenters are being subjected to the same restrictions as the cattle class.

Tops and Villa are more like expensive, specialist import shops. I was thinking local supermarkets like Big C and Tesco Lotus. Are there any of those in proximity to local wet markets?

keep in mind that they just build here anywhere. many buildings are not near necessities and there is no local priced food or markets around (except maybe a 7-11 ????.
This is true for much of Thailand.
So which areas would you recommend that have good walking access to supermarkets and local markets?

I would like to come up to Bangkok on the fifth to see the Trooping of the Colours.
Does anybody here know the schedule of events and details on the location.
Any tips on the best viewing points etc.
Thanks in advance

I am used to dealing with Chinese tailors, so Thai counterparts should be a walk in the park.
Do you have any specific recommendations?
-
Now here is a fresh topic! However judging from the average age of most posters on TV you would be better off asking what aisle they could find a box of Depends in at Tesco.
Yes you are right, maybe I should be asking on Lonely Planet instead. At least I got a few response here.My other question regarding uniforms has drawn a complete blank.I would have thought that more people would have known about the area around the swing. With the Buddhist temple decoration market, the insignia shops on one side and all the gun shops on the other, I think that this is one of the most fascinating parts of the city. But maybe, I am asking in the wrong section. I will have to check if there is an ask the experts section here like there is on the Hua Hin forum. That one is a really good information resource. If all else fails, I will check out some of those sourcing guys on Fiverr. They are pretty knowledgeable too.Although I like the multi coloured dreadfalls, I was going to pick up some thin multi coloured LED plastic rope (the kind that is used in discos) next time I was in Shenzhen and combine the two together to make some really exotic steampunk examples. -
kinky BF/GF who is into Bob Marley ?
Close.
Naxi/Tibetan GF who is big into Cosplay and Oriental Steampunk.
I thought that they might have them somewhere on Khaosan Road...
-
Does anybody know where I can buy dreadfalls in Bangkok?
Just in case you are not familiar with cybergoth culture, these are dreadfalls

Does anybody have any experience with the Uniform Outfitters on Ti Thong near the Swing, or any other uniform tailors in Thailand for that matter?
I am looking at buying a UK Colour Guards Tunic. There are some nice examples available on eBay, for example
But then I realised that Thailand too has a large contingent of colour guards too.
And so I wondered about getting such a tunic made here.
Does anybody know if this is possible and what the approximate cost might be?
-
I have heard that there is a direct minibus that is faster than the big bus and bypasses Trat completley but I cannot find details.
Does it leave from Victory? Does anybody have a ling or further info?
Thanks in advance.

Does Bangkok have any charity shops?
Maybe something similar to the Oxfam shop in Hong Kong?

I was wondering if there are permaculture related sites that I could visit on an upcoming visit to Bangkok? I am not sure what is available but I am interested in all best practice sustainability sites including community gardens, food forests, aquaponics, solar power. Do such things exist in the capital?
How the cannabis industry lifts all boats
in Thailand Cannabis Forum

I have read numerous claims that the cannabis industry is a boon to the local economy, but have so far seen little hard evidence or accounting that backs this up.
What is this websites experience for example? Have advertising revenues from dispensaries since legalisation gone through the roof ? I see new shops open and close all the time, but learning if Thaivisa has been able to successfully leverage this cultural change, I will be much more convinced that some of the Anutin hype is actually valid.
Maybe the mods could chime in with some enlightening stats?
