  1. Why does it bother you? I'm sure every ex-pat has his/her own reasons for choosing to live here rather than their home country and it's quite possible that they are living the same way as they would like to in their home country too but maybe, can't afford it there. Others maybe have no ties, commitments or even family in their own country and just chose to live in the climate of their choice.

I love to see the retirees here who look like they have a new lease of life and can enjoy it in the warmth of the company they choose and the heat of the day. It's also a far better option for some whose families are just waiting for them to retire at 65 so they can shove them in an old peoples home somewhere so they can sell the house and not even bother to visit again. How about that option after you've worked all your life.

Thats a lovely post Josky, nice to here a lady not tarring every guy with the same brush.Brings me back to a conversation i had with my son about the uk will and he was having a dig at me for being 1,000,000 baht down on stocks and shares lol.I kept mytemper becaus i love him to death but he obviously thinking about how much money he will get on my death, such is life.

Do you think i should spend it all hehehehehehe, now that would be nasty

  2. There is a lot of variety of expats but in general I get the sense that people who bail out of their native lands will tend to be bitter and critical of their home countries due to lack of success etc. If things are going well on a financial and personal level then why leave for a foreign land? They set off for new starts and in the beginning are overly positive about the new location. They might even go out of their way to convince people(on websites etc) how much better the new country is than their old country. At this point they are in the earlier denial stages.

Unfortunately over time these expats realize they are repeating the same pattern of unsuccessful results and become discontent and increasingly bitter and critical all over again in the new country. Often they become bitter and critical on websites or to anyone who will listen to them. It's a vicious cycle that will be repeated over and over until they reprogram their subconscious self beliefs.

    WHAT A LOAD OF TWADDLE

The whole reason i am here is because i was a very successful National Sales Manager, and was able to save big money and invest in property and retirement funds.I find your post astonishing and maybe you are talking about yourself, but every single one of my friends are successful in their own fields and all have retired early in Thailand for

nicer weather gives better health generaly

    beautiful women

    gf/wives here

    opened a business here

    retired early due to relaxation

wanted to pay gold all week

    a bad relationship

    tired of western women

i could go on all night as to why people retire early so maybe you could ad on your 10 penny worth.

  3. Maybe its you who is the crazy one.Anywhere in the world we chose who we have as friends and Thailand is no different.I have many expat friends here and long time tourists, and if they were horrible people then i would not be friends with them.Very rich and average friends all mix in and iw ouldnt swap them for you at any cost.

    bye bye

  4. my gfs son w/o permission used my bmw. short story, he hit neighbors buffalo, he says buffalo hit him.

neighbor wants me to pay as i have money, about 20,000 baht. i say boy pay. my gf say i pay as boy said he sorry.

ps. we been having lots of buffalo casserole lately, getting real old.

i pay for everything, is this how to treat a bf?

Why you talk in pigeon thai?????

  5. bb gun always works and if that doesnt a sure bet is poison (ok flame away) but seriously why do people need 5 to 15 dogs??? as a rule of thumb 4 or more is considered a pack and a pack of dogs has proven to be a danger to small children, other animales and the public at large.

    1 OWNER HAS 6

THE NEW THAI FAMILY HAVE 5

That gives you an idea how crazy some people are and dont give a flying about anybody, which is typical of some thais and farangs for that matter.Even though i dont think i can kill a pet dog there is a limit to what i will take and then i flip very badly,so at the moment i am having deep breaths and taking it easy

  6. Wait for the owner with 2 plastic bags that you give him, and explain him in a very polite way how to manage. If response is not as expected, then, you collect it, and go to dump it at his front door....

    My 2 cents

Good idea but there are at least 5 different owners who seem to want their dogs crapping away from their property,i wonder why.

    GOOD POINT THOUGH

    THANK YOU

  7. Over the last 1 year my neighbors have increased their dogs to about 16 and that with 3 neighbors.Every day they bring the dogs close to my house and let them crap everywhere, then piss off and leave the shit for me to clean up,if its by my gate. Also a few dog owners are waling their dogs from the next soi and of course these dogs smell piss and shit and do the same, and the owners watch them crap and dont pick up.

At this moment i have only spoke to the 1 owner who has been here for more years than me and she says her 5 dogs only have small poopoo so i did say ok no probs i will collect the poo every week and throw over onto your driveway and she just frigging laughed.I am asking do i let this continue or phone somebody and complain as this is an offence in Uk,and yes you are right this is not the UK,but its getting out of hand now.I am trying to get a couple more neighbors to complain too but they are scared of moaning about this disgusting mess.

Any suggestions are helpul, tel numbers etc,or if any dog owners that are doing the same, can i ask why, what right have you got to let your dogs shit on everybodies area except your own.

FLAME AWAY BUT YOU WILL GET IT BACK

  8. When I came to thailand for the first time(about 15 years ago ) and we stayed at the little duck hotel which also have their minibars fully stuffed. My cheapskate friend got so upset about when he brought a lady companion to the room that while he was in the shower they would take a drink or a piece of chocolate.

He thought he had the solution and put the entire minibar content in his suitcase before he went out at night. He only forgot to replace it the next day so when the room service came to clean the room they charged him for a complete minibar stock list.

This happend twice to him in a two weeks holiday. :):D

Walked past The Litle Duck hotel and it was being knocked down a few days ago.Shame as it holds sentimental reasons as i met my gf there, but 5 years ago lol.

  9. Very simple equation, live like you would retired in your home country.

I had 1 year in England before deciding to live in Thailand, and i went out a couple of times in the week and ate a couple of times in local english/indian restaraunts.I do exactly the same here for half the cost based on water, leckie, gas,no rates, cheaper housing, cheaper petrol, cheaper booze, cheaper ciggies(i dont smoke though) etc etc.

    What is the problem??????????????????????????

i think people spend more on booze, ciggie and bar girls then complain its tooe xpensive, now thats an early grave, everything in moderation

  10. You have all heard the horror stories and complaints associated with that dual pricing in Thailand. You know, the one that says you get screwed if you are white, falang, or anyone other than Thai. How is this for a twist. I won't name the town for fear of a stampede or reprisals.

I needed my Thai drivers license renewed and my Thai wife needed her first lisence for a motobike. She went to a local clinic alone and received the documentation of her good heath as required. She was not examined. The fee charged was 200 baht. A goodly sum for Esaan, but no surprise.

The next day I went there. It was crowded and hot so I passed on it till later. Two days later the same thing so I sought anoher clinic. I found one a few blocks away that had but one other customer. I filled out the questionaire. Waited for ten minutes and then the nurse took me to see the doctor. He checked my blood pressure, my pulse, and my heart and lungs. He said you are Ok and signed the document. The check bin was prepared and submitted to me for payment. The charges, the entire charges, everything was a whopping 15 baht, that's right FIFTEEN BAHT.

So you see, sometimes honesty prevails and the good people of Esaan mistreat their own and conversely give a falang a break.

    bella

So what are these horror stories then,i think thats a bit OTT isnt it???

  11. By the way. down here in Thailand. here is not any beutiful cats. they run arround most of the time

scared as hel_l for all the 2 billion dam_n dogs that are chasing them. And the cats are skinny as hel_l

and doesn´t look good at all. Just so you know!!

    Glegolo

I find the exact opposite in Thailand, the dogs DONT attack the cats in general.

  12. Dont think you will find an honest lawyer who will put your emotions first.

Good luck and go quick with your son,as i believe the thai mother is no good and will do anything to UPSET YOU.

A combination of drink and god knows what else and you have a woman from hel_l.

Oneposter mentioned a train to Malaysia, sounds a good idea to beat anybody trying to find you,as she will suspect you are at Bk AIRPORT.

Hope things go well and please take the kid to Scotland

  13. I will continue with my Vientienne restaraunt visits, and not forgetting Cucumber restarauant

Why do you rate the 'Cucumber' restaurant on Pattay Tai?

Suppose there are better, but its just a place i get good food and consistant too with very good service. There is one on sukhumvit, turning right at threpassit rd,and about 2k on the right, not been for a while but very good value for money.

  14. well, its the family you have to please. they will not look for the same quality's (size of your bank account) as to more of your professional carrie and understand of culture to make an effort. blah blah. they have values and some of them are not to date westerners or don't enjoy the night life seen but I'm not generalizing. all depends of there generation here and there personality's too i guess..

is it hard?? not if your super fly for a white guy!

And their tut min like any woman lol

  15. Instead of Ayam baked beans I have switched to 'Brook' baked beans (available in Friendship Supermarket, Pattaya Tai) Price: 39 Baht (Special Offer).

They are better than Ayam (not as sweet) and I recommend them! :)

Additional note: These 'Brook' baked beans are imported from Australia.

Agree 100% Syd.More like the uk baked beans, with less sugar
