  1. Hey Maverick

For someone who constanty slags off Hua Hin you seem very well informed.

Hua Hin full of Old Golf Fartz is how you put it.

What do you do Maverick, Black Belt in a Martial Art if you are American you are probably an Ex Navy Seal, or perhaps an Aussie SAS guy.

I reckon you are one the saddo's who chase prostitutes, perhaps you ar married to one?????

    Come on tell us Mavie.

hey - change your nick to B-erko :o

  2. Hey

I actually went down to Kiri Khan on the way to Ranong for my Visa stamp, they are still not fully operational yet as the Myanmar side refuses to open.

    They will do Extentions.

As soon as Myanmar cooperates then that will be it, no more long journey's to Ranong.

I asked if they allow plonkers who do not like meat, they replied it will be open to everyone that satisfy the criteria. This means that even fussy eaters like Maverick can use it, shame really.

Goosethai - good advice but whats the need for the last sentence.

Another chinese proverb for you to ponder on - 'A sour wind impales the eyes'. :o

  3. Maverick sounds a right biggot, bet hes a racist.

Would love to know what he does in his spare time, probably a religious type.

This post was originally about horse racing (anyone notice that?).

I have read the various inappropriate comments here. You think I am sad when you spend so much time slagging me off in a post about horse racing (!) - get down to the gym guys and work your frustration off or better still take up a martial art or contact sport you will feel much better than venting your spleen on a computer.

  4. Johans spot on - I avoided Pattaya for 3 years due to its reputation but was surprised at the area when i visited a few weeks back and the beaches along Sunset Park (15kms from central P) are delightful and dare i say it prettier than Hua Hin beach which is very busy and over rated. Pattaya/Jomtien central i know have crime problems and i hear sewage issues (beach dirty?) but sounds like u could be 20 mins away where its cleaner and thats close enough for hospital emergencies etc. HH has hospitals but they seem quite small.

  5. I realise this is a duplicate topic and apologies didnt see the other one.............however the other topic is useless so maybe this might hit the spot - is there a decent international English curriculum school in Hua Hin and if not does that indicate HH is a place for old golf-fartz as everyone says?

  6. 25m baht per rai

    can that be right?

If so I might have to rethink my retirement strategy

yep its right (wife called in thai so wasnt a 'foreigner' price). Two plots different owners both wanted 25 million-ish one asid its going up as well soon. Anyone interested i can tell u were it is.

  7. Extract from e-thailand.com -

'The Thai government has become much more relaxed about dual citizenship these days. If you were born here, then being issued with a Thai passport will be easy. A form of renunciation of your other nationality will be available from the Embassy and you can submit that with your application for Thai citizenship - but in reality, you can keep your other nationality. Then you must only play by the rules; if you have a Thai passport here, then you are 100% subject to Thai law and will not be able to use your other nationality to escape from any problems you may encounter. But there is far less prejudice here against Eurasians than there used to be in, say, the 70s and you will be admired by Thais for taking Thai nationality - it will show a kind of commitment'.

  8. Is there anyone who really knows the definitive answer to this question of dual nationality. Lots of conflicting advice around. I took this extract from the web -

'THAILAND - DUAL CITIZENSHIP: NOT RECOGNIZED. Exceptions:

Child born abroad to Thai parents, who obtains the citizenship of the foreign country of birth, may retain dual citizenship until reaching the age of majority (18). At this point, person must choose which citizenship to retain.

A Thai woman who marries a foreign national and acquires her husband's citizenship has technically lost her Thai citizenship. Should the marriage end in death or divorce, the Thai national woman could regain her Thai citizenship. This is an unofficial dual citizenship designed to protect female Thai nationals'.

I know a number of people with two passports one of which is thai (including the post to this forum) but it would seem that technically it's not allowed other than in extreme circumstances but it's ignored. Might there be a problem when going abroad and the entry stamps not reconciling causing an investigation?

  9. aaaaaaa...you baaaad...holy <deleted>, a newbie with an attitude problem...too many newbies at the same time with attitude problems...

As an American that has criticized America in previous posts this makes me suspicious...

aaaaaa, this forum is available to all of us that would want to crack wise and etc...maybe I'll nominate your momma for Nobel consideration later in the year...

but no one ever said that tutsi was a nice guy...sensitive perhaps but that's not worth much in Thailand...

    Do you play golf?

Tutsi - bored and nothing new to say - must be lonely where u are.

  10. I have just had an interesting debate with my wife...her English is not so good so I have found it hard to point to the facts to back up my debate topic.

Do any of you guys know where I can find a website in phasa Thai that will show the actual truth about Thailands governing body? ie show both side so we can debate without her misunderstanding me...

We have spoken for an hour now, and I asked her to check on the TRT progress, she said "how, I do not know how to check what they have done, or what they are doing"...any assistance here? as I said, Phasa Thai is the what I need, englich will not work...another case of stupid farang I think (and about 6 big changs).

But, the TRT website itself is not sufficient, we need an indipendant body.

    Please help us.

Interesting for who? Is anyone really interested in being 'proved' wrong - i mean is it possible to have such conversations in this country other than in certain elite circles and this aint one of them. Your wife sounds a gem - for petes sake cut her some slack.

  11. The Hua Hin - BKK drive is a shocker and if regular visits needed to BKK i would say no to Hua Hin. I believe Hospitals also a bit thin on the ground. The new road in 2008 (?) will improve it if it happens but meantime Pattaya might be better if you anticipate sophisticated hospital needs.

  12. i live in Bangkok, what's wrong with that, embarassed about what, if you're embarassed why are you here.

I am not 'here' yet but plan to move to Pattaya soon - when I told a few people they smirked and expressed surprise that it wasnt Phuket or Samui - as though they looked down on Pattaya. I am not particularily bothered by other peoples opinions but wondered what Pattaya Residents thought thats all. Pleased to see so many PROUD Pattaya residents about.

  13. I thank you both very much for your usefull replies. Yes I always knew it would be a 'long haul' and as with all things Thai, masses of paper work. But we will go for it. I think we can provide all the requirments. I have no intention of ever living in the U K again, but as you say could well need visas for them to vist my family, and maybe some school for their English. They are lovely daughters and will look after me very well I think, so i must do it for them. I was interested to read somewhere on the Forum, that you cannot with two "Kingdom" countries, have dual nationality, as you can only give your alience to one King/Queen! but I think that after the adoption happens, I think they must remain Thai, as Ive already said its my wish to stay here. Again so many thanks and will let you know what I learn!!!!

    Pip in Lampang

ON the subject of dual nationality I understand that up till the age of 18 the child can have dual nationalities but at age 18 has to choose. This was bar room advice and may (probably) is wrong.

  14. Could someone advise me on myself legally purchasing a car/pick up in my name

Is it possible and are there any other rights i may have with a one year temp.stay "o"visa  ( married to a Thai. )

Is the new english driving licence o.k. to use or do i have to get a Thai one ?

    many thanks              Sheff Mick

Having a Thai driver's license is important for comprehensive insurance purposes.

unless as i did you get IN WRITING a letter from the insurer that they accept a UK drivers license.

  15. Hi Just got back from England.

Why would anybody live in Hua Hun? Why not.

Lovely beech, lovely weather, great people (Thai and Farang), Great Golf Coarses and easy access to Chompon Koh Samui and Phuket which can easily be done in a day.

Maverick, what are you looking for????

This particular resort has most things you could want while living as an Ex pat or while on holiday. Hua Hin is also the oldest seaside resort in Thailand and has Royal Patronage (The King has his residence here).

Erco it was a semi-rhetorical question - i know why but for me it doesnt work. Yes its a great place but..............the drive down from Bangkok is a nightmare traffic wise and its a journey i would need to do fairly often (seems the rich thai's like it there and drive like maniacs in their BMW's and Merc's - death wish style).

Second the international school choice is either zero or very limited depending on who you speak to. Lastly land prices and houses are higher than say Pattaya/Rayong area (where schools, shops and communications links are superior) and the nearest other expat base within 2-4 hours drive of Bangkok. Crime is higher in Pattaya but thats mainly in town and after dark.

  16. With regard to the musicians that you mention I don't think that ZZ Top, Jackson Browne or any of the others recently inducted to the R&R Hall of Fame are veges...neither were Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye, Beatles, Stones, Fred McDowell, Leadbelly or Robert Johnson. What about Elvis????

Let me be clear...I like eaters of tofu and their friends...regardless of their taste in music...

Prince just got into the R&R Hall of Fame and he's skinny enough to be a vegetarian - but most likely, it's the drugs...

Of the Hall of Fame list I am not sure but Paul McCartney is probably a Vege - I suspect. And Elvis - i hear he has some new diet books out soon.

By the way not many people know that Carl Lewis was a vegetarian.
