It's something with either a Toyota AA or AC front end grafted on but can't be a pre-war Toyota. Toyotas of that era (1936 onwards) didn't have that curved door glass with modern flush-fitting door handles (which look suspiciously 4-door pickup-like), curved, chrome-trimmed windscreen with modern wipers or non-suicide rear doors . If it was the real thing it would be very, valuable.
From wiki "Three A1 prototypes were completed in May 1935. None of them survive." and "A total of 1,404 AA sedans were produced from 1936 to 1943, when the model was replaced by the more austere AC."

There are/were some rare stuff in Burma. About 20 years ago i was there and saw a Jag XK120 roadster driving down the street. As i was sitting at Yangoon airport i saw 2 P51 Mustangs taking off.

You're welcome.
Yes, who knows what is worth here... I had a quick google and I think only 8 cars officially imported. One was owned by the late King of Thailand and one by a Senior Politician.
There was a sticker from a German garage on the rear so looks like an older restoration bought in a few years ago.
To add, I have not been but found this website.
http://www.thaiautovintage.com/web/home.php
Doe anyone know any other classic car garages in Bangkok or the surrounding area?
There is a Thai guy who posts classic cars on Facebook - Bangkok expat page...but I think he just adds a few $$$ to existing adds.
If I get a lottery win maybe I'll splash out on this and get this restored!

RAZZ
Near King Rama IX park in Prawet. Not quite a classic garage, but they seem to specialise in Jag mechanical repairs, albeit mostly XJ40s in the google map photo. Probably worth keeping a eye on them to see what they get through the door. When i went past a couple of years ago there was a Jag Mk 10 tucked away in a corner.
Trying to work out what is under the plastic cover at the back, it looks like a Merc 230SL

the heading is misleading as it is not exactly what is needed for these 'visas', it is only exactly what is needed if you are using the income method. We are still presuming that the money in a bank account method remains the same.

so the yearly amount based on monthly income:
for marriage is 480k;
for retirement is 780k.
Whereas the amount held in an account was (still is?) 400k for marriage and 800k for retirement.

i have a one year visa (in effect visa in advance), i still have to line up for up to an hour some times and unless they open up a new hall with banks of counters then it will be the same wait time as usual. If they can pull the Chinese out of my queue then it will speed up my wait time considerably.

so visa in one minute but still lined up at "special" counters for 2 hours.
Interesting list of countries it is available to, and only 16 on the website so far on the selection screen though it shows 20 when you look at the html.
Andorran, Bhutanese, Bulgaria, Chinese, Cyprus, Ethiopian, Fijian, Indian, Kazakh,
Latvia, Lithuania, Maldivian, Mauritian, Papua New Guinean, Romania, Sammarinese,
Saudi Arabian, Taiwanese, Ukrainian, Uzbek- 1

As I finished the post, they showed up and confirmed it was normal. The initial setup of the bike or something like that. But they confirmed there is no problem.
Time to enjoy the bike :)
did they make sure it had water and oil in it? Maybe worth checking yourself.

I question if the reliability of these "underpass architect views ", if superimposed on the actual location as seen via Google Earth, the Ocean Marina will have to give up a lot of land to accommodate them
i think this the Utapao end, you can see in this google map link the buildings are the same as in the superimposed photo
Edit: i see Thailand J has answered the query!

there is a Givi one in Indonesia, ask Alvin at thaimotorbox.com if available in Thailand, he sells Givi and Shad.
though you might want to forgo the box and go for the boy racer look.

sat on one today (didn't drive it), but agree with other comments on that weird extension at the left knee. i am not tall (5'9" / 176cm) and while not touching, it was close. Sitting back a little clears it enough though. The passenger seat is slightly perched higher so maybe they won't tend to push the driver forward. You could pull the little door off to get some more clearance, but then i'd be worried about getting kneecapped in an accident.
Still, i prefer the specs of the Aerox to the Nmax as it is slightly lighter and 40mm less wide. It is actually 5mm less wide than the SX! I reckon that the Aerox is a great little bike for carving through traffic, while the Nmax would be more suited to slightly longer distances outside town. Not that the Nmax would be difficult to maneuver in traffic.

My R has ABS as standard, take a look at one, sensor just above caliper with slotted rotor inside disc. and it stops really well.
5 hours ago, nev said:I thought the R came with the wave brake?, I will take a look at the R mate, I will ask in the shop when I go to buy for the same.
the Yam th website states that only the ABS Version has ABS, while the R has the Wave Brake (and ABS is not listed in the features). Would be good if the R had ABS as the colours are nicer. Maybe they decided to put it on the R and didn't update the website?

according to their own statistics there are zillions of tourists coming to Thailand anyway (the Hub of Tourists), so why the need to attract more with free visas!

Got my first look at an Aerox today.
Was surprised to see that all versions have a rear drum brake whereas the NMax has discs both ends. This is a deal breaker for me which is a pity because I like everything else about the bike.
I will wait to see how Honda respond as the PCX must be due a major update.
interesting, would this mean ABS only works on the front (disc) brake? Maybe done to save costs on the ABS version? as a full 2 wheel system would be more complex and more expensive.

maybe one of those urban myths but was talking to a guy in Australia recently and he told me a story about getting rid of pigeons. His neighbour got some bird seed and soaked it in rum. When the pigeons ate the seed and then flew, their heart rate increased and they died. There were pigeons dropping out of the sky all over the place, the guy who did it was very religious and felt guilty for months.
Like i said, don't know if true or not, but maybe some cheap rice wine with seeds might work. Get the pigeons eating unadulterated seed first. If it does work, then won't poison animals that eat the birds; just lots of drunk cats and dogs!
The other thing to try is buy some warfarin tablets from a pharmacy, crush a few and mix with water and then soak the seeds.
As someone mentioned before, airsoft guns won't kill birds it just scares them away. i was told that Air rifles (pellet guns as opposed to airsoft) are illegal in Thailand. The best option for killing pigeons if you can't get an air rifle (or are a terrible shot!) is use a .22 rifle with bird-shot.
My grandfather used a drop cage trap to catch pigeons and sparrows; then have a great feast. The guy in the house behind couldn't work out why his prize racing pigeons were disapppearing!

I the past I have come through the airport.
They have stamped the incorrect visa date.
This has happened twice..
I read some advice on TV..to always check before you leave the desk....
You learn as you go...
when this happened the person went back to where the mistake was first made
and they corrected it there...

happened to me recently. Never bothered to check before but same as you, after reading on TV this time i checked. The officer had stamped the wrong month. i didn't wait at the counter but checked once i walked through. i went straight back to him and he corrected it with profuse apologise.
Sorry OP, can't give you any advice on your situation.

Thanks KhunBenq for the feedback.
I just wanted to confirm this before I set off for the immigration office and arranged for the bike purchase etc...I have to do my visa extension
as well, so it all needs to fit together with that and other money transfers.
Thanks again
not 100% sure but the validity of the Proof of Residence may also depend on when your visa/permission of stay expires. So do your extension before you get the Proof of Residence letters, just to be safe. It is fairly efficient getting the letters now, just have to wait 20 or 30 minutes once you hand the paperwork in.

went this morning to renew 5 year bike and car licenses. Had to do the depth perception, colour test and watch the video. Even though i had 2 original copies of the Residency Certificates she was happy to take 1 original and a photocopy, saying i can keep the other original for something else!
-
Was tossing up whether to go today or not but went to Jomtien at 11am and it was frantic. It took 15 minutes just to pick up my passport from having the extension done last Wednesday. Then decided to get a multi-entry permit, got one of the last numbers before cut-off for lunch and 10 minutes later was out the door. Generally everyone waited patiently, and although some staff looked a little stressed they were all very professional and efficient. i used to dread walking into that place but now it is a pleasure to go; almost!
BTW the extension on Wednesday only took 5 minutes. Can't ask for better than that!

i hope this time it is true, but it seems to be one of those things that appear in the Thai news and disappears quietly for a couple of years. The problem before has always been getting the Navy to agree, which they seem reluctant to do.
i think the White baht-buses run to Sattahip, not Rayong. There is also the problem of getting to Sukhumvit Rd from the airport with your luggage to catch one.

Thanks, I could not find my size on the website but I'll give them a call next week and see if they can help me.
Still welcoming other suggestions too...
Michelin Pilot Street 80/90-16 (replaced the Pilot Sporty). i got mine from "Ek Paiboon Yang Yont" (02) 222-7535, (02) 223-4678 speak to Khun Pairoj, paid 930 Baht each back in Sept 2014 plus 100 Baht freight
Thanks for that. Did you get that size for the front or rear. For my Elegance 80/90-16 is the factory recommended size for the rear tire. I am considering going 80/90-16 front and 90/90-16 rear. How do you like them compared with the stock IRC tires? I'm guessing you have the same bike right?
i've got an SX. same tyre sizes from factory as the Elegance; rear 80/90-16, front 70/90-16. what you need to check is the rim sizes, on the SX it is 1.6" front and rear, which enabled me to put the 80/90-16 on front and rear. maybe the Elegance has a 1.4" front rim, so squeezing a 80/90-16 on is not recommended. Easy enough to change the front rim to 1.6" if you want.
Yes, a better tyre than stock.

looking at that map, China needs to help get the Kra Isthmus canal set up. Imagine the kickbacks on that project!
