  2. Bangkok Post Bans Thaivisa From Using Its Content

For legal reasons, and to protect the website and its members, Thaivisa.com must comply with this new policy and urge all members to avoid all Bangkok Post content, advising its members to find alternative content instead.

We have updated the Thaivisa.com Forum Rules also:

    30) All members are not allowed to quote news articles or material from bangkokpost.com inside topics on thaivisa.com. Posts containing quotes will be deleted from the forum.
  3. Possibly due to recent changes (?), whenever I try to "View Album" I get the Board Message:

    Board Message

Sorry, an error occurred. If you are unsure on how to use a feature, or don't know why you got this error message, try looking through the help files for more information.

    The error returned was:

Sorry, but you do not have permission to use this feature. If you are not logged in, you may do so using the form below if available.

Even though the page clearly shows me as being logged in. :o

    try again now

  4. as suggested before, when using skype, try to close all other applications that would take bandwidth.

i use skype for audio/video and am very pleased. however, one thing to keep an eye on is the amount of users logged into skype, if around 9 million (thailand day, USA night) you should be fine. if above 12 million, there is a possibiltiy quality may go down or calls might be dropped.

  5. My friend will be coming to Thailand in May, firstly to do a celta, then hopefully to teach here. She is unsure of which visa to obtain. I have mentioned she may be able to get a non imm B from the Thai Embassy in Hull.

Can anybody confirm if this is possible?

She is a little concerned about getting into visa trouble.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Hull is highly recommended, a non-immigrant B should be applied for.

Your friend can use their postal service and receive the passport with visa back in only a few days.

  6. Hello,

Im from the Philippines and I would like to ask how am I gonna be able to stay in Thailand for a year studying Muay Thai? I did this last 2006 when you can cross the border with no worries. But alas, times has changed and now I find myself in this dilemma.

What options do I have if Im gonna apply for non-immigrant visas? Would they (Thai Embassy in Manila) consider training Muay Thai as study?

    Thank You and Best Regards.

I don't believe a Muay Thai School or Academy would fall under a non-immigrant ED visa category. Here is some contact information that might help:

  7. Apologies if this has already been covered but what has happened to Bangkok Chat?. I used to go on there a couple of years ago but everytime i try and log in to the new website these days i get the following error message:

Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /home/bangkokc/public_html/forums/sources/ipsclass.php on line 5648

Is it me or has the website been shut down?

I'm not receiving any errors, is anyone else?

  8. 1. You can only obtain an extension of stay for 90 days at a time for some schools - it is not a visa - the cost is 1,900 baht each time.

    2. If you want to travel when on an extension of stay you must have a re-entry permit to keep it alive - the cost is 1,000 baht.

I am sorry but that is not what i have been told.

I was told that i am getting an initial 90 day student visa in my own country. Then i will to go to the immigration in Bangkok to do an extension of my current student visa for another 9 month. That would make it a year for my student visa.

What i do not understand is that why do a single-entry student visa need a have a stamp for every 90 days and need to pay 1900 bhat.

And as you have said that a re-entry permit is 1000 bhat and why do the school admin personnal told me that it is a 1900 bhat.

They just advise me to get a multiple entry, does multiple entry need to pay 1900 bhat for every 90 day stamp.

I am only planning to get a single entry one year visa and one re-entry permit only.

I am not sure the extension of stay, it came to me quite of a shock.

lopburi3 is correct, 1900 baht is the cost of an extension. If Thai Immigration is only allowing 3 months because of this type of extension, then you must provide the school's paperwork and re-apply paying 1900 baht each time. The length of an extension is determined by Thai Immigration, not the school which may be telling students old information.

A single re-entry permit (1000 baht, single entry) compared to a multiple re-entry permit (3800 baht) would most likely only be used, as each re-entry permit will be dated to expire with an extension, in this case at the end of 3 months.
