This young tree is having fruit for the first time. Just wondering, what is this thing growing beside the fruit? Will it be another fruit or a flower or what? Should I keep it or cut it away?

On the windshield of my car I have two suction cups, one for the camera and one for the GPS and both fall down after a while. I try to be careful when I install them, wipe clean and moisten the plug a little and sometimes they are stuck for maybe weeks, but if the car is allowed to stand in the sun for a few hours, it is done immediately. Something is strange about this flight.
