i was at chiang mai airport a couple of days ago and asked at the airasia ticket office when the chang mai- hua hin route would start again?
"maybe" in april was the reply.
hence i flew viet jet to suvarnabhumi and took the bell transport coach to hua hin. 3.5 hours.

i went to hua hin immigration with a mate of mine about a year ago, as they opened after lunch. he wanted a 30 day extension. only one other person in there.
the youngish IO took his passport and photos, filled the form out for him, a couple of minutes on the computer, a bit of stamping on forms and in the passport. a big smile, wai and a thank you.
done and dusted in less than 10 minutes.
nice relaxed atmosphere, most impressed.

this has taken off more than "what was the first single you bought" a couple of days ago.
from seeing fledgling bands in salisbury city hall, 66/67 young pink floyds, small faces, the move, the kinks and the english birds, doing motown covers with ronnie wood on bass. etc.
then the blues boom, john mayall"s bluesbreakers , fleetwood mac, aynsley dunbar et al, the soul bands, geno washington, jimmy james and the vagabonds, the alan bown set.
bath festival, knebworths, glastonburys the last night at fillmore east, blackbush, readings, 1975 mardi gras concert in new orleans, its all been great,
so many bands have been mentioned in this thread, some i had completely forgotten about, and it sounds like we all had a good time.
biggest regret, not going to the isle of white in 1970 to see and hear jimi hendrix, i was in southampton at the time.
he was n't as good as i hoped he would be, james brown in sydney, never mind
and lets not forget all those great bands who play in our local pubs and clubs on friday and saturday nights who never made the big time.
do you believe in rock and roll, god damn right i do!

That info is way out of date.
No problem to do a crossing at Mae Sai with a valid visa for entry or for a new 30 day visa exempt entry.
joe, i cant find the thread, but did i read recently on t.v. that the mae sai border is now open until 9 p.m.?

i am on my second non imm multiple entry o visa based on being a u.k. pensioner.
you can only get it in person in london.
take the documents in one day and pick up the next.
it suits me as i return to u.k. once a year.
i dont mind doing the 90 day visa run to where ever either.
make sure you let the u.k. pension people know, four months in advance, that you plan to
retire and have your pension payed from your 65th? birthday.
take a look at the below link for all the info.
www.gov.uk/state-pension
when you get your pension you will get a statement showing how much you will get
and when it starts.
this is the form you will need to apply for the visa.
i dont know if they will accept a copy.
on the second year i showed three months of bank statements, signed and stamped by my bank.
to show it was being payed in.
also make sure you have the right size passport photos and background colour.
hope this is of help to you,
p.m. me if you wish.
enjoy your retirement,
jerry in chiang mai.

for anyone who is inteterested, i got a ME non imm o visa with my u.k. pension statement from london, on nov 2nd.
no other info asked for.
-
i spoke to hull earlier and discovered they are now only issuing single entry non o visas for u.k. retirees with a state pension statement.
they did say an extension may be possible in thailand.
if so what type of extension would it be and how long would it be for?
also does anybody know if london are still issuing multi entry non o's for u.k. retirees?
thanks in advance.
