Whilst I personally love Thailand (even with it's numerous faults) I would never take for granted anything the TAT say as true. This mob seem to come up with ridiculous and outlandish figures on a daily basis.

???? I wonder what exactly they scored points on when it comes to the real estate - did they get points for not let foreigners own land and house in their own name or the artificially high prices on what the foreigners may put in their name (condos) as a result of the first one ...?... ????

When you consider there's already a 700 baht tourist departure tax, the last sentence of the article says it all

“Collecting an additional fee will increase the travel budget of international visitors. It will affect their decisions to skip Thailand.”

Looking forward to see what the wise minds will come up with next - can it be a mandatory breathalyzer locked to your head where it is zeroed on arrival and read on departure - 5 baht fee per inhale and 10 baht fee per exhale as you polute more during exhale - It is only the imagination that sets the limits ...

It's no different, other than the travel and cost, than the numpties in Pattaya complaining about taking a ATK test prior to being allowed into a 'restaurant'.

    Brandishing vaccine certificates or passports.

These aren't real vaccines, you can still have the virus and get the virus and spread the virus.

The inoculation significantly reduces your chance of severe illness, ICU admission and being put on a ventilator.

Real vaccines prevent you ever getting a disease, polio etc.

RE - Real vaccines prevent you ever getting a disease, polio etc.

    * That's not completely correct ...

Can you still get polio if you've been vaccinated? (wikilivre.org)

It is really saddening to read these stories again and again. The other day was a Norwegian family which had ended up in quarantine hospital because a family member had tested positive for Covid-19.

Imagine being in their place and all the hopes of being in a nice and relaxing holidays turns into a nightmare of quarantine and isolation in a second when your test shows positive. It is not really worth all the risks of traveling at this point of time IMHO and I don’t think most people are aware of those risks.

Thats another interesting point - the norwegian family you reffered to chose to book their entire stay in the quarantine hotel this to dont risk to pay for another hotel they couldnt do the quarantine in if they tested positive, but they were moved to a hospital quarantine for an additional cost without the need of medical care ... This UK woman could make the 10 days quarantine in a hotel. Not easy to make plans to reduce risk of extra cost when you anyway seems to end up making the quarantine where you not already have paid in advance ....

The expats would be divided into four groups:

     1. ‘Rich’ global citizens

    2. ‘Wealthy’ retirees

    3. Digital nomads - or professionals working from Thailand

    4. Highly skilled professionals

    ---------------

    * So what can one understand from this - that skin color does not seem to be important as long as you have enough money ...?...

Met online on Thaicupid. 10 years ago.

They are not all hookers on dating sites.

First words were the normal text messages, I as making sure she wasn't looking for a customer, and she was making sure I wasn't asking how much, color of underwear, or sending dickpics.

Logic - If you have nothing to show - you dont send ... :coffee1:

PCR tests and 1 day quarantine is necessary to ensure tourists do not have covid.  The vaccine does not nullify being able to receive/ spread covid.

Neither do the PCR test so the same second you have taken the PCR test you may be infected or still be a carrier of the virus ... Its better to tatally shut down or fully open up without conditions as the never ending changes in between create just a mess and make people travel to other destinations ...

BTW, all those day by day changes together with the latest numbers of infected confirms that LOS is not yet ready to fully open so better to wait a little more something that will benefit all in the long run ...
