  1. They do a back-up and database maintenance run at about 2200 GMT every day. That locks you out for 5-10 minutes.

Thanks; but it gives a lot more problems than just 5-10 minutes.

    LaoPo

Usually its inacessible from 2130 GMT for around 15 mins and sluggish for another half an hour. Fine after that.

  2. Given the onesided extradition the UK has with the US. He'll be in the States in no time. They just send someone to pick him up.

If this guy has an arrest warrant in the UK that takes precedence over anything else overseas including the US. Imagine the diplomatic row if he was discovered in Cambodia for instance and both the US and Uk were involved in an extradition situation well you can be sure he would be pushing for a return to Blighty.

To me his return had to be arranged by the UK authorities as no way this guy could have made it to the UK on a false passport without being spotted beforehand.

EDIT: Just to say I doubt the Thais will want to see him face trial as its just more bad publicity for them.

  3. I would think the Thai authorities will assure the UK that he won't be facing the death penalty and the UK will therefore be able to extradite him.

You can likely add to that pressure on the UK Government from the Americans given the victim was a member of their armed services.....I reckon he will be extradited eventually and recieve a hefty sentence.

  4. Men-tally challenged is about right. There is no forking way that I would ever be made a mod. :cheesy:

You protest too much. You'd be well up for a 'Mod for the day' spot.....now that would be fuc_king hilarious......

    :D

  5. There are over 41000 tattooed f*ckwits in Pattaya who should be in prison for being <deleted> but unfortunately that is not a crime yet?

I say, steady on old man!

You forgot the 'What ho!' Glitterman Ya tattooed Sarf London thug. How many more are masquerading as normal members of the expat community I wonder? :ermm::unsure:

  6. Tea money is currently running at 500 Baht a month. Probably cheaper in Chiang Mai I guess.

That is good and practical knowledge. Haven't been here long enough to know lol.

Sorry I should have pointed out for those who don't know its 1000 Baht.

    i m not a stupid as op....................lol. 500 for what, 1000 for what????????????????? tea????????

Ok have problem in bar?....phone 'em up and they will remove said problem. Or you could look at it the other way....no problems with opening late.....

Cheap at the price.....certainly cheaper than the UK policing....:whistling:

  7. you will want to be careful, if you bring anything of significant value, you will be racketted by customs.

Well in the OP's position I would buy as many cigarettes as I could stuff in my luggage and chance it at customs....worst case scenario is they get confiscated.....chances are you can turn at least 100% profit.

Bit of a risk....depends on your poker face.....

Worst case scenario? Not if you are stopped at Thai customs - particularly if you cannot pay the considerable fine.

Ah yes it would be the first case of Thailand fining someone for taking cigarettes out of the country where incidentally the taxes have already been paid. Think about it....!

  9. PS, A free shot of what are you offering.

Would it be worth me making a trip to Koh Samui?

Just to update you he has had his head pickled in alcohol all day. :burp: this must have caused him to forget giving us all his business cards at the last TV pissup.....very generous of you though PS when's the party?

    :partytime2:

EDIT: I was gonna bring along a few teetotal expats to increase my free allocation but errrrr.......let's just say they're all busy that day....:whistling::D

  10. My names Daniel,

    I am a Chelsea fan,

the game I remember most is when we lost 4-0 to Man Utd in the Fa Cup Final so many years ago now... my favourite colour is Blue, I hate our new away kit this season. I hate Alex Ferguson but admire his achievements. I am confident Chelsea will win the league this season. To tear one team apart 6-0 is good, last year 3 times in the premier league. This year twice already... happy days.

    Kind regards

    Daniel

Welcome to the Forum Daniel. Just some quick advice mate I see you posted your email on the thread that's been closed....I'd ask Jockstar to remove it or you may get some colourful emails that leave you feeling even more blue....

No more favours.....unless you're beating the Arse of course!

    :)

  11. Don't want to rain on your parade Rooo, but this Mars story is just an urban myth perpetuated by hoax emails.

I could give links, but just google it and you will find there are many references to it.

Ask Poor Sucker it's not. he sees two moons all the time lol. What was it last year, that was visible with the moon ? Venus?

    Uranus! ....ahem :sorry:

  12. I'm having my head cryogenically frozen....its pricey I know but then I got a discount with my Bangkok Airways card....apparently anyone with one of these has lighter contents....whatever that means....:whistling:

I'm going to have my head conserved in alcohol.

    wait a minute....

    Already done that.

"If I keep on drinking profits are sure to improve!"......with your philosophy you might qualify for the super discount. :D

  13. How about a sea plane service.. Could fly to Pattaya/Phuket/Hua Hin etc and even Surat (seaplanes can land on paved runways).. Wouldn't make a big dent in the Bangkok service, but would put pressure on them to lower fares somewhat.

Here we go again. But of course the seaplane could deliver the guests direct to their hotel, jetskis could be used to load and unload passengers and luggage, the planes could be refuelled by an underwater pipe with a (guarded) floating nozzle, ground control would be beachstaff with mobile phones and the landing sites cleared of ferries, speedboats, jetskis, sailcraft, longtails fishing boats, airbeds, swimmers.........:(

If you can circumvent the taxi mafia :ermm: then yes Crusty for Governor! :)

  14. I did this in July. It's not as convenient as coming from the airport.

I booked my ticket through one of the travel agents in Chaweng. We actually met the bus in Nathon after driving round the island in the morning. The bus goes onto the ferry and takes you to Surat town. You then wait in town by a busy road for ages until the minibus turns up. Think we caught the ferry at 2.30 and got to the airport at about 6.15 (for a 9.20 flight)..

Thanks. That looks like similar time schedule.

    * How much was the bus+ferry trip from Nathon to Surat town? And for the minibus from Surat town to the airport? Or was it a combined fare?

    * How long was the road journey from Dongsak to Surat town? And from Surat town to the airport?

And thanks to the other contributors too ! :)

It was all combined with the cost of the car that took us round in the mnorning.. The bus from the airport + ferry was 500b, so it will be something on that scale.

From the peir into town must have been getting on for an hour. Stood around for what felt like another hour. Then about 30 mins max to the airport.

That is interesting. It shows that it's possible to take the 2:30pm ferry from Nathon and make it, contrary to what the Panthip lady told me. I am still trying to find a way to leave from Nathon later in the afternoon.

    * Tw25rw, when you were in Suratthani town, do you remember seeing taxis? I am considering taking a ferry+bus from Nathon to Suratthani town, take a look over there during the time I have, and then, take a taxi to the airport. Not sure this is possible however. Just wondering if taxis over there have a meter, or is it the same kind of mafia like in Samui. Does someone know?

I took a taxi from the airport to Donsak 5 years ago...it took around an hour or so unfortunately I can't remember the exact price but its not cheap....must have been 700-800 Baht I would guess.....I would recommend you prebook one if you go this route or you're likely to get ripped off at Donsak....
