  1. I suppose that one truck is better than none. It sounds like a few more may be needed.
  2. Now that the hospital have their money for the first treatment, hopefully he is now banned from that hospital. Or maybe they want to give him an enema?
  3. On this one, I am sure that there are a lot of twists that we have missed and will probably never find.
  4. I thought that the reports in the BP and here said that his wife owned the properties. She is independently wealthy.
  5. and it has taken three years for them to say this? Shame on you Thailand.
  6. That is a very definite statement. Do you have a reason for saying that or is it just an opinion? My own view is that he may be clean. Too many people want him out of the way. The dirty ones usually keep a low profile but I will listen to reasoned arguments or the evidence. I would love to hear Chuwit's thoughts on him.
  7. If they tried that here on Koh Samui, even some of the locals running a car rental business would not be eligible to drive their own cars.
  8. I'm sorry. Off topic but what the heck does he have stuffed down the back of his trousers?
  9. If God wanted me to eat only plants, I would have been born a cow. As I was born a human, my body needs a variety of things including real meat. AS a side note, I did read sometime last month that Vegan and 'plant based food' are rapidly going out of fashion in the west. Largely because of cost and the fact that it is highly processed.
  10. In most of Thailand, the road is the footpath. (See photo above.)
  11. Burma - illegal non elected, non democratic government supported by the military, Russia and China. Thailand - illegal non elected, non democratic government supported by the military, Russia and China. Spot the similarities?
  12. Pie in the sky. Prepared does not mean passed. A bit like the 10,000 baht vote buying scheme perhaps?
  13. The negative stories are probably from disgruntled, theorist, bar-stool lawyers that post negative things about Thais and Thailand. Foreigners all over Thailand carry out DIY work on their own property without being gaoled or fined. It is only a problem if you get paid for it. Go for it!
  14. From signs that I have seen at the court in Koh Samui, they go to gaol. Each day in gaol is worth xxx baht off their fine and they stay there until the balance is zero. It was a while ago and I cannot remember how much each day was worth. I did not see similar signs in a Bangkok court when I attended a couple of trials there but that was over 20 years ago. The memory dims.
  15. Your post seems similar to the lifestyle of my wife and I (when she was alive). We both lived in the same house and we both worked. My work would mean lots of overseas trips. We only had real time together at weekends but never breakfast. I wake early, she loved to sleep in. Dinner together when I was in the country and always on Fridays. It was a tradition. Not for everyone but we made it work.
  16. This would suggest that the TM 30 has been completed. Some of the things that hosts need to complete a TM 30 is the visa type and length of stay.
  17. The offerings are usually reciprocal. How can Thais get into the UK visa free?
  18. Why repatriate a corpse. Cremation in Thailand and send the ashes home. We 'posted' my father-in-law's ashes back to the UK from Australia. I took some of my wife's ashes back to the UK for a memorial service after she had died.
  19. That happens everywhere. I cannot remember the last time that I took a taxi in Bangkok and did not have to argue about putting the meter on. I do not even bother trying in Phuket or Samui.
  20. Do not feel too sorry for the 'Thai public' on some of the southern islands. They want the foreigners - for their money. The locals depend on them either for buying their goods or giving them jobs. During Covid, most hotels and restaurants sacked their staff. The Thais had to go back to their homes on the mainland for food etc. Couldn't pay the rents here. Most of the foreign businesses here kept their staff on for as long a possible. For example, it cost my business a lot of money. Hotels etc had support from the government. Small businesses had nothing. The Thai public are happy with most of the foreigners. It is just people like this guy in the article that give us a bad name. Luckily, a very small minority.
  21. Well done Emma. Having seen the state of some folk in the morgue, including my own wife, I am sure that this is appreciated by the families left behind.
  22. Maybe bullet proof trucks instead of submarines and jet fighters.
  23. What if he does not want to go to rehab? Many people who take drugs refuse that option.
