Busy up here in Chiang mai, out in mae on in mae kampong its very busy, but that is usual for this time of year, as many Thais from the south come up to the mountains for the cool season.

Comparison with the Tsunami is a bit over the top when it’s an economic blip against what happened in 2004
However, it doesn’t help when foreign companies grossly overreact
I live in Phuket but work offshore in the UK
Mobilisation restrictions now make it near impossible at the moment for me to come back to Thailand every month
I just had the same message from my company in Aberdeen.

This current government needs to realise that part of democracy involves opposition and alternative views, it is fundamental for democracy to work, if you don't accept that then there is no democracy, opposition is healthy and keeps all voices heard
As you know these guys are all high ranking military and police in charge, they are not used to being spoken down to by the civilian opposition party, that cant happen!

Yeah and I wonder why that is? you silly pricks. A mate of mine who works offshore and spends $100,000s of dollar in Thailand every year just got refused a Tourist Visa. He's been here 9 years and they do that because he used to come back and forth on a visa exempt cause he works 4 weeks on and 4 weeks off.
Thai immigration, you reap what you sow. Som Num Naa
All of you will be out of a job soon, because without the foreigners coming into Thailand, there will be no need for immigration LOL
As long as they keep the Chiang Mai office open it will be OK with me. You can figure out how to stay in Thailand yourself.
If the guy aint figured it out after 9 years theres no helping him,its so easy.

Can somebody tell me if there is a kind of rspca in Thailand, ive lived here a long time but never looked into it.theres a guy across the road from me had a dog chained up for a long time now and i want to do something about it,my thai wife wont talk about it neither will my neighbors, but i think its terrible the way the dogs treated,i can speak some thai, but the guy wont talk to me,hes actually got mental health problems and is sort of middle class, hence nobody will say anything.
im in chaing mai if any nos or anything

Is it just me or are people still driving as crazy as ever here in Chiang mai?
yes ive been away for 2 months and its just worse than ever, even my wife complains.

The reality is that bringing such positive changes does not depend solely on the government in power
Having a government that cared about people, rather than just filling their pockets might be a good place to start.
we dont even have that in the UK.

All the Thais are doing is enforcing the laws that already have been in place for a long time, but just relaxed,i have lived here for 20 years and had many visas and been legitimate ,its not hard to do,just get the right paperwork and play by the rules,i get my wife a UK visa every year for a holiday there and its a pain in the arse,a visa for Thailand is way easy compared to that.
what is the right paperwork for under 50 and single?
Money and lots of it.
exactly. and many young folks who want to be able to live in thailand year after year are not going to be able to do it anymore if they cannot afford the elite card.
you dont need an elite card,im on a non o marriage visa been married for 17 years and if your under 50 and single consult immigration, not that hard.

Did anybody read this line in the story: "Visa runners are those who leave Thailand and return immediately for the purpose of extending their stay."
Seems pretty clear to me.
Your right, just get the right visa no probs, ive been doing it for 18 years all legal on a non o visa being married to a Thai and working abroad, never had a problem.

Looks like a lot of foreigners are either leaving or will have to get married, have a child or get a retirement visa.

In Samui during the Buddha Holidays, (visible) bars are closed.
So, standard procedure:
Go to the nearest Wat. Inside, on temple grounds, will be many food and alcohol stalls, live R&R along with hundreds of people.
Many of them dancing drunk out of their minds...
You can not buy alcohol in any temple grounds, they hold the entertainment and booze outside the temple grounds, nearby.

Throw them in the bin as they don't follow up, they send 1 letter for late payment and that's it, and nothing happens when you renew the road tax, my nephew is a cop and he told me don't worry about the fines nobody pays.
