Awww boo hoo, is Thailand tricky for you? Maybe change your name to ChipButtyOn Your Shoulder.
The BOI has made things easier for farang, from investing, to tax incentives, to foreign business ownership. One Stop Service Centre has made things easier, Digital Work Permits made stuff much much easier for us. I just renewed my visa and WP and was literally in and out in under ten minutes. That has been made much simpler over the years and it is only for farang.
More countries now get visa exempt entries than before. That has made it easier for millions of tourists (farang}.
We get preferential treatment in so many places. I go to the bank as a farang and someone immediately comes over to help me and I am usually taken to a desk in the back rather than the big queue - that is purely because I am farang.
Sorry, you just made a very silly, bitter, "ooooh look at me I'm a victim" post. You are not a victim, Thailand does not hate foreigners (maybe they just hate you}.Someone immediately comes over to you in the bank and let’s you push ahead of everyone else - why?
Every time I go to the bank I get a ticket and wait in line like everyone else. Same when going to pay my credit card or going to True to sort out an internet issue.
I don’t want special treatment. Just fair.

I renewed my passport from Thailand completely online. The process took less than 10 mins and I received the passport in less than 3 weeks.
It’s as if, and that’s a big if because there needs to be the will, that pretty much everything involving documents, etc, can be done online. Meanwhile, when I last renewed my extension here I had to take a new passport-style photo. Apparently it has to be less than 6 months old. I think that was officially the millionth passport photo I’ve given them.

Having a car and living right next to a BTS station can be heaven. I very rarely use taxis anymore (only when out downtown and need to get home late). I feel this will make using taxi an even more stressful experience.

Why are they not saying that he wrote reviews under different names? It wasn't about one review. Its clear that the reviews on trip advisor are not to be trusted
Reviews should always be met with a healthy dose of skepticism. Anyone can write anything. This is why we apply logic and don’t overthink too much.

or is it safe to assume a CDC recommendation is simply a recommendation?
Question 1 - what on god’s green earth are you talking about?
Question 2 - I was praising the CCP and their “recommendations”. Everyone knows the CCP just has their citizens best interests at heart. Something Jack Ma just learnt the hard way.

Even , how many have been prosecuted for making fake reviews ?
Section 330. Truth as a Defense

Hmm. I wonder if the wealth of an Individual or individuals would be a factor in whether or not law enforcement or a judge, etc, would decide if something was a personal matter or if it wasn’t knowledge beneficial to the public. I guess it would be a huge factor in a country that’s inherently corrupt. Thailand isn’t inherently corrupt, is it?

inbound group tours are currently suspended due to the risk of bringing the virus back into the country. outbound group tours are also suspended, cause, like, you know, they'd have to come back as well, and risk bringing new infections.
outbound individual travel is not restricted by the ceeceepee, but rather by the embassies of foreign countries not granting visas for tourism.

edit: china CDC did issue a statement last month recommending residents avoid unnecessary trips abroad.
The good old CCP and their ‘recommendations’.

Right........but didn’t he just say that schools here are “too academic” and kids should be learning more about history, loyalty and patriotism? I did a subject at school called “systems and technology” where we learnt about technology and innovation. Don’t remember ever learning about the UK’s hierarchal structure or Queen Elizabeth the second, etc. In fact, I was often left to think for myself which is pretty important when it comes to nurturing innovation.
More wanting to have your cake and eat it from this lot. Buzzwords a plenty.

The reason he was sued was he kept posting reviews with racist overtones and would not reply to emails etc. What was the business supposed to do? this guy stayed there ONE night and was angry about being asked to pay a corkage fee for his bottle of gin he brought into the restaurant. Trip Advisor are hypocrites as they renegaded on the agreement to end all this.
Trip Advisor are merely stating what happened in regards to this hotel and the guest. What people choose to do with this information is up to them. Maybe the hotel should proudly state what happened on their website so people read it and go, “yea, I think I’ll give that place a miss”.
As a person who reads reviews for products and services online, you often see the most insane and stupid things written. You learn that if most of the reviews are good, the product or service is good. I’ve read reviews here that were praising a service or product to the point where you know they were blatantly fake reviews. This to me is a telltale sign that this company isn’t to be trusted.

Yes, I heard the hotel didn’t even ask the police to file charges against the guest. The police read the reviews online and decided to do this of their own volition. Once the hotel got wind of this they pleaded with the police and the disgruntled guest to make peace and stop this madness.
For the love for god, people. Do you not care about this hotel and its feelings?

Yes, they need some outside-the-box thinking. How can they not give a single inch but appear like they’re giving something of significance to people who are smarter than them.
Oh, well - another coup it is, then.

'Barnes, who says he has lost his job teaching English in Thailand, was arrested earlier this month and taken back to Koh Chang by authorities. Since he arrived on Saturday, Sept. 12, he wasn’t able to post the 100,000 baht (about $3,164 USD) bail until Monday, and spent two nights in jail'

Jails and police stations are two separate places
Only a Judge can send a person to jail , the police cannot take a person to jail and this guy didnt even get prosecuted and he will not have a criminal record stating he spent two days in jail .
Jail and prison are often used interchangeably as places of confinement. If you want to be specific jail can be used to describe a place for those awaiting trial or held for minor crimes, whereas prison describes a place for convicted criminals of serious crimes.
”held for minor crimes”
You’re arguing with dictionary definitions. That’s special.

That’s what jail is. You get arrested and sometimes you’re thrown in jail ‘til you make bail or until you can see a judge.
In the UK we’d say the person was held in custody, in the US they’d say in jail. Both are true and saying jail is a more effective headline.
He was in jail for 2 days. This is a fact.

Plenty of hotels in Koh Chang , why choose this one, I certainly will avoid it, trip advisor took the over the top review down, good for them, the other review was not something that should result in the writer being thrown in jail and threatened with 2 years in prison, period.
Especially in a country where you can pay the same bail bond (100k) for a fatal hit and run.
