This whole crackdown on Nong Nat by one idiot of a cop (who is probably only expressing his anger at never being able to attract the attention of a beautiful woman) has only generated more interest in porn. Totally out of order that they offer the 4mbit service imo, theres absolutely no point in getting it what so ever. I nearly ticked the box in the true office for 4mbit but after quickly checkin some webmail decided to test the 1mbit out to begin with and maybe upgrade in the future, it would have been a nice way to throw some money away. Out of 100's of downloads theres only 2 that have been flat out on 1mbit

I'd think both Malaysia and the Philippines (especially the latter) would have a much larger English-speaking customer base from which to draw from. I don't know about either of the services there, but perhaps they can also derive income from advertising (whereas UBC is prohibited from such). Perhaps, also, they have competition to drive prices down (whereas UBC does not).
In any case, I think UBC provides a good service -- it is my main sources of news and entertainment -- so definitely worth the price to me.

If you consider UBC a rip-off, then you shouldn't subscribe! And I do not think it's ever smart to advise a foreigner to break the law in his adopted home (right, Dr. P?).
Besides, just because you have never heard of the cops taking action does not mean it does not happen. UBC does hire investigators to spot illegal antennas and such, and then get the cops to bust the owners for signal piracy. It mostly happens to institutional users (i.e., apartment blocks that stick up a pirate antenna and feed the signal to their tenants), but it DOES happen to individuals as well. Trust me on this.
So don't be such a cheap charlie and subscribe to UBC if you want to watch it. If you think it's not worth it, then don't. I'm sure you'll find channels 1,3,5,7, and 9 riveting.

The multiplayer is 4 player only. Alough there are ways to increase this, the system and network requirements are horrendous. 400kpbs for a 4 player game!
I'm running up a server today on one of my phat machines. We'll see how it goes.
I read a preview of Doom 3 that noted the limit of 4 for a multiplayer game, but when they logged on, they found matches of up to 16 people. We';; have to wait and see I guess.
I guess the 256MB cards are out of my price range. Anybody got some prices on a quality 128mb video card? I realize that the Doom 3 makers suggest that NVida is the best for their game, but I have read lots of reviews which praised ATI over Nvida in most cases. Plus, ATI is Canadian...so i would rather support them. I'll take a look on pantipprice.com for some prices. Anybody go video card shopping in Phuket lately?u can get the 9800 256mb Pros for about 16k and the XT versions about 19k, there is no real diff though unless yer playing in 1600x1200 or above with the XT tho, so I went for a Pro Aint found a game that it wont run flat out in 1280x... yet.....fairly sure I saw the 9600s in 256mb aswell as 128
I would expect that there will be a large gap in performance between the two in the latest games... -
the casino on the boat in phnom penn doesnt do it, as for the ones @ the boarder, ###### nos. I think thais are more inclined to playing games where the odds are stacked against them for some reason, and the casinos are'nt going to encourage people to sit there for hours when they will only pocket a few dollors per hour for table time/rake, if they can limit it to roulette,blackjack etc where they can rinse em in minutes.

if both have network adaptors you could copy the data u want to save to yer desktop with that no problemo.. Then yer best of giving it a full format before reinstalling XP, rather than 98
You should then run into fewer probs once yer up and running again.... -

there was a guy on TV not so long ago that had ridden his motorbike from.. I think it was singapore, to the UK.. Went thru a lot of very dodgy countrys and never had any probs at all, on the first night when he finally got to the UK someone nicked it
I think it took him about 2 months
