The problem is that almost all shops that work with Aluminum profiles, all they do is cutting them and putting structures together for windows, etc ...

At least the shops that I've been to, are like that - none were able to accommodate me so far ...

I need a shop that can take a 3 mm thick aluminum plate, cut it, punch out the holes, and bend it to my specification.

    Thanks for all replies !!!

  2. Hi Guys and Gals,

I need to have some L brackets custom-made, preferably from aluminum. 14 x 3 cm, 4 mm thick ... I have a drawing as well.
Does anybody know of an Aluminum work shop who can do some custom work ?
    Preferably, Pattaya and surrounding Areas.

    Many Thanks !!!

  3. Hi Guys,

I have two Aster99 Filters, which I would like to replace the sand in.

I have read the "sand issue" thread and am now considering Zeolite or Eco Clear.

It seems to be impossible to find unbiased 3rd party reviews and comparisons.

What have you replaced YOU Pool sand with ?

Does it make sense to mix ? One Filter one compound, the other another compound ?

What's the cost for Zeolite and Eco Clear ?  Where to buy (I am in Pattaya) ?

Attached is the picture of my Pool Filter Model.  I have two of those.

    Any advice appreciated!

    Hi Crossy,

Couple of weeks ago I bought DTECH VD067. It's HDMI and USB over IP. About 4300 baht on shopee.

Unfortunately, the transmitter has it's on DHCP server which messed up my network, so I had to run a

dedicated line between the transmitter and receiver. Other than that it works ok, with the expected lag ...

    Best Regards,

Your speed drops because they do something called 'speed bursting' on consumer grade lines. If you download a large file, say an ISO file to burn to a DVD et al, the speed will start off fast, but then suddenly drop to a lower speed. You only tend notice it on large files, but this is how they provide Gigabit speeds without overloading their networks i.e. they trick you with bursting, and they'll burst you just enough to pass a few speedtests before the cap hits, and then a timer starts to countdown until the burst resets.

That is not what I see. I often upload and download file that are in the 100GB range. International downloads can

be much slower than the domestic line rate that I pay for, I am well aware of that.  My complain is the speed-drop

between my modem and the nearest 3BB server. Once the speed drops, it stays at the lower rate until I reboot the

    modem.

The speed reported by speed test is usually quite accurate and reflects the down/up-load time I see.

Check the speed at what the modem is connected when you get only 250. If it says 250 (the connection speed) then take a screenshot and show it to 3BB. Then the connection has a problem. If it shows 1000 then it is not so easy. Could be several things.

Did that a dozen time, they have seen for themselves the slow speed ... all they do is reboot the modem.

Believe most have fair use restrictions in Thai conditions of contract that reduce speed if used at or near full speed for any period of time (hour or few hours).

Yeah, I know the bandwidth is oversold/over-committed  ... but it should get back up to the package speed I am paying for.
However, in my case it stays at the slower speed until I reboot the modem ...

This is really tragic but I think you will not notice it.

In respect of the speed trop to 250. Strange but you will hardly notice it too. But you can check in the modem the connected speed and look if this is okay. If this shows only 250 then for sure not.

Thank you for letting me know what I do and do not notice ... really clever ...

  10.

I subscribe to the 1000/1000 Mbps package with 3BB.

    First Problem

    -----------------

Something drops my speed on a daily basis to around 250/250 Mbps.

After power cycling (or rebooting) the modem, I am back to what I expect.

The "technicians/engineers" have been here a dozen or so times, reboot the

modem, sit around for half an hour, and then "Here we fixed it mister ..."

    Any idea what's going on?

    Second issue

    ----------------

I am subscribing to 1000/1000 Mbps, but I only get 930/930 Mbps. I suspect

that is due to the LAN port being only 1Gbps as well, and I am loosing bandwidth

due to protocol overhead. I tried to explain it to the 3BB guys, but they don't get it.

Does anybody know if there are alternative modems I can use that have a faster

    LAN interface?

    Many Thanks,

I realize this topic is a year old, but I am too interested in importing LiFePo batteries.

I bought some small LiIon *less than $10 USD value) through Aliexpress, but now am looking to buy 30 of the bigger LiFePo4 batteries.

I am not worried about customs duty, etc, but I wonder if I need any special import permits, etc ?

Did the OP have had any luck with his import ?

    Many Thanks,

  12. Everybody who replied, Thank you very much !

Your commends where Educational and amusing at times! ????

Very much appreciated all your time !!!

I will now order the unit I have earmarked. I actually prefer a unit that I have to manually start. I don't want for it to randomly come on without me knowing ...

Again, thanks for all the feedback guys !!!

fair point, but silence is priceless.

especially if one has very young/elderly family or neighbours..

there are the added expenses of the converter & presumably a solar panel / controller to keep em topped up to consider though..

    more like 4 n quarter

    e2a - oh & sourcing decent hardware ...

I'm not worried about noise, and pissing off neighbors. ????

I do plan to keep the generator in a dry garage. I am also planning to come with a method to attach a hose of some sorts on the exhaust and guide that outside by the roof. Also, I do not intend to run this unit overnight. It is not sufficient for my ACs. And in my 22 years at this location, we never had a prolonged overnight power failure so far. If that ever happens, I will go to a local hotel, lol.

If you only have intermittent power cuts, would a couple of batteries and a converter not do the job?

4 batteries will give you 1000 W for 4 hours.

No fuel, oil change and moving part to worry about.

    https://battlebornbatteries.com/product/12v-lifepo4-deep-cycle-battery/

Yes, indeed. I do have a 6,000W APC UPS. I also have two external battery packs. It costs me about 60,000 baht every two years to replace the batteries (the room where this is all located is not chilled).

Right now, the UPS can keep things running for about 2 hours. I would like to cut down the batteries to some 15-30 minutes to save money, and use the generator for the longer power outages.

    A few questions.

    • Fuel - Petrol, Diesel, LPG, buffalo dung?
    • Full auto or manual start? I recommend full auto, going out in the wet and dark (it's always wet and dark) gets old very quickly.
    • What do you actually need to run (forget water heaters)?
    • Prime (full time) use or backup power?

Do you intend a DIY install or hire a contractor?

Loads of similar low-cost Chinese units out there, or there are the big names (Hyundai etc.).

We have a 5.5kVA Kwai-Thong petrol unit which I've modified for full auto, it runs everything except the A/C (ok it runs our bedroom A/C a 12,000 BTU conventional unit, don't tell our guests). It will run the lounge A/C which is a 23,000 BTU inverter unit (so soft starting). It will actually start and run our 3HP irrigation pump but it does chug a bit.

Thanks for your reply Crossy !

Well, I did not expect  more questions than answers ????

    What fuel would you recommend?

I know Diesel may get stale if sitting for too long, so may be just gasoline or LPG. Buffalo dung unit would be nice ????

This will be for purely backup only. It seems we get 8h power cuts about once a month.

Luckily, now they mostly announce them ...

So, I really want a reliable unit. Reliability is the most important aspect for me.

Are there good quality Chinese units out there? Or should I go for a brand name?

I will install it myself. Any recommendation on transfer switches, also appreciated.

It will be used to power lots of smaller items. The only large item is the mentioned

water pump. It typically runs for 15 seconds, then is off for 15 seconds. That's when

somebody is using lots of water. I probably will not need more than true 4,000 watt,

but my experience with Asian made equipment is that you need to ask for 2x of what

your truly need. Plus, I like to have some extra capacity, just in case. So, 7.5-10kw unit

    is my goal ...

    Many Thanks!

  16. UPDATE !

So, I guess being persistent and polite (very hard for me, lol) did pay off!

Today magically all problems "in my computers" fixed themselves! Another tech

came out, only to confirm that everything was ok. He also admitted that they have

been having some issues, but claimed that they are fixing them.

I am back to 920/940 Mbps, which is close enough. I asked him if there are better

routers, he said the one I have is the best, lol. Neither one of the techs swapped

my router. Still the original Huawai thing ...

    Thanks for all comments!

I have had 3BB fiber service to my house now for close to a year now.

My package promises 1000/1000 Mbps ...

It has never really hit those speeds, but was always close enough, around 9xx/9xx Mbps

As of two weeks ago, my upload speed has been throttled to around 300 Mbps.

I notified 3bb, they send a "technician", who hoked up his laptop directly to the router

and confirmed the issue I have been having. He called somebody to fix the issue, waited,

checked again, it was still there.

This went on for about an hour.

Then he proclaimed, that there is no problem, and the issue is with my equipment.

My main PC is a linux box,  and a second PC running windows. Both show the same

    problem. I tried www.speedtest.net and speedtest.3bb.co.th

Also tried different web browsers, google-chrome, firefox, opera, and IE on the win box.

    All show the same issue.

And again, this problem started two weeks ago, everything has been working fine

until recently, and I did not make any changes ...

My one-year contract is coming to an end, so I am ready to switch if 3BB can not fix

    this issue.

    Two questions:

    1. Has anybody else noticed issues with 3BB in the last couple of weeks?

    2. Who offers better service than 3BB?

I am in the dark side, soi nong krabok, not to far from the rail road ...

    Many Thanks,

    rudi

  18. Attached is a picture.

The water would go down to about the bottom of the first tile (horizontal red line). That how

we discovered we had a problem. We have drained the water further now ...

The crack is hard to see, we need to remove the tiles.

    Thanks,

  19. Hi Guys,

so my (concrete) pool has developed a small crack in one corner.  Water is leaking slowly, but it is leaking.

I can see the crack between tiles.

What's the best way to fix this?

I'm thinking of removing the tiles around the crack and then trying to fill it with something

The questions would be what to fill it with ?

Then I could apply a sealant and replace the tiles.

    Any ideas/suggestions appreciated.

    I'm in Pattaya ...
