Being able to buy his way out of raping a 13 year old girl.
Makes a farce of the whole legal system in Thailand.
I have seen it so many times where money buys pride, dignity and a child's innocence.
The talk about saving face is sickening.
It is more about selling there soul.

I would like to come in on this about myself if that is okay?
I live in Surin on a OA Retirement Visa
Can I make a land border crossing at Chong Chom into Cambodia without a re entry permit?
Then come back into Thailand and to the local Thai immigration Office to apply for a Non O Retirement visa?
And use a letter of income from my embassy ( NZ )

I remember meeting a nice old farang at a bookshop cafe in Pattaya last year
He was planning to bring back to Pattaya a Filipina lady as a "carer"
He said Thai woman were more for mongering but he needed someone to love him and take care of him.
Not sure if he did it , must catch up this year at that famous Pattaya bookshop cafe
I hope all turns out okay for you and your young lady.
All the very best.

What's wrong with people.
These brothers would never do this in New Zealand on their own police force, nor would they try to bribe the law.
Things never change, foreigners coming to Thailand leaving their common sense at the airport.
The policeman in New Zealand would not have pulled a firearm and fired a shot.
I am not excusing there stupidity for what caused it all.

I'm so surprised that a once big and leading nation can now only bring these two, ready for elderly care, men. More than 300 million people and there is no one better to find?
Very valid point.

Ask Aussie cops how the kiwis behave in Oz. Sameway these two pigheaded 'bros' did. Never known a kiwi in Oz to respect anylaws and I know and have worked with plenty of them.My youngest son unfortunately partnered a kiwi 'thing', absolute nightmare, he,s lucky to be alive.
The average Kiwi respects the law and police officers. New Zealand also has the most honest police force in the world.
You cannot say this about the Australian corrupt police.
These two Kiwi's were so stupid to the point of almost being unbelievable.
They will pay a high penalty

I'm confused. The reports state that......military personnel (sic) approached with a pistol in case....Presumably this means a pistol in a holster. 🤔
Not a holster.
In a case.
Look.

Basically if you can't puff on a cig then don't puff on a joint. A minority of idiots once again making it bad for the majority. Walking down a street puffing a joint? No. On the beach where there are families around? No. Anywhere that people can object is not a good thing IMHO. Having said this my stance on drug legalization has been constant for decades. Legalize ALL drugs.
After 25 years as a Corrections Officer. I am inclined to agree with you. But no politician has the balls to do that.

My guess, is that the foreigners were only acting in self-defense and that is how the police should act like happened.
I get the impression that policeman felt intimidated and pulled out his gun. In returned the bike riders felt the same and one of them took the pistol from the policeman. And a shot was accidently fired.
What ever happened.
They are in deep trouble.

I am 80 years old. It looks to me that Thai Inland Revenue want to tax me maybe 25 percent of my pensions and most likely have to an accountant to do this for me.
He will most likely charge the old farang like a wounded bull.
Which all sounds like a good wack out of my pensions.
Thank you Mike for the effort that you gone done to explain to us.
To me personally.
It just seems to give me problems at my age that I can do without.
The golden years of old doesn't really exist.

Hi
Almost 3 months ago I got my 1 year marriage extension approved and at the same time I got a 90 day notification paper stamped into my passport. It says I gotta do my next TM47 filing on 13 March.
https://tm47.immigration.go.th/tm47/#/login - Tried to file here on the website but I'm getting rejected. Only comment provided is "Please contact the nearest Immigration Office in person immediately."
I'm still living on the same address as last time and it's the same as my TM30. All info is correct.
Any idea why it's getting rejected?
If I gotta go in person, where do you do that in Bangkok nowadays? Would prefer not to have to go all the way to Chaeng Watthana again.
One of the main problems for the 90 day online reporting often comes from making even a small mistake your address.

Thank for your advice Jack & Lacessit....
I did read somewhere that many of the Krathom sellers are getting 'caught out' not for selling Krathom which is legal, but for the 'other stuff' they are adding to it, the 'mixture' gets tested and if it contains some thing extra... but, I too wonder if thats actually a reality as why would they add anything extra and charge so little.
I'll get the Wife to pop down the road and get a bottle and give it a try...
That is what worries me buy it from a unknown souce.

I am on OA Retirement in Thailand.
Can I leave Thailand while my OA is still current and not get a re entry permit and return to on a 30 day entry?
Then apply at immigration for a Non O based on retirement
Also can this be done doing a land border crossing or would I need to fly back into Thailand.
I ask about the land border crossing because I live close Chong Chom.
Which would mean just going over the border into Cambodia and returning to Thailand
Before leaving Thailand If I was to get a letter from the New Zealand Embassy in Bangkok confirming my yearly income.
Would the Embassy letter be acceptable to Thai Immigration in place of 800,000 baht deposited in my Thai bank account?
