  1. The CRV is same size as a CX5, and both are bigger than a Volvo XC40. Have you considered a second hand BMW X3, X5 or even a Mercedes ML?

for new car then a Pajero or Fortuner is the way to go if you want reliable, cheap and easy to maintain.

CX5 is a great car, fabulous to drive, won loads of awards in Europe and US where it’s up against some serious competition. If you can live with the size it’s by far the best of the bunch.

OP, was there any requirement to show a TM30 reciept ? Or you are at a hotel perhaps ?

The process often is easy as a tourist staying at a hotel etc. More involved when long-stay.

I have picked up one thing from the OP, borrow a baby for a couple of hours, lol

Yes, she was staying at our condo, I had the juristic office register her when she arrived, as is required.

  3. One2Car.com is now in English and has a good selection of used cars, mainly from dealers so not as cheap as you would think. Facebook groups (phuket cars for sale) etc have a lot more from private sellers. I would highly recommend a Ford Ranger over the others, I have a 3.2 Wildtrak which is fabulous and it’s never put a foot wrong. Great car. Sadly I have to sell it soon as it’s too big for my wife - she wants a smaller car. Will be sad to see it go.

  4. The main issue is the over complication for any process involving government agencies. For example, why on earth is a “re-entry permit” needed. If you already have all the correct paperwork to live in Thailand, either by marriage, work or retirement, why on earth do you need a permit to leave and then come back? Nothing material will change in a weekend away. The amount of work carried out could be streamlined and reduced in a heartbeat.

  5. For what it's worth, I was recently at a Mazda dealer having one of the family trucks serviced, and there was a new bt 50 pro there that had suffered a major head on collision. The passenger side of the engine compartment was smashed in, nearly all the way back to the bulkhead, it looked like it had hit a concrete power pole by the shape of the impact area.

The thing that impressed me is that even with such a huge impact, the passenger compartment was still intact with no engine parts or anything intruding. Both doors could still be opened and the roof showed no signs of buckling, so the crash structure had clearly done its job. I was seriously, seriously impressed with this, it was quite obvious that the people on board had survived the impact. Compared with other, older, vehicles I have seen after a collision it was amazing to see how well it had performed. Honestly, based on this, a bt 50 pro is now seriously on my list for my next new car, even if it does look too "smiley" for me!

  6. I have another problem on my iPhone 4S after upgrading to IOS 7: I am unable to delete the apps I used. Before IOS 7 i double clicked on the start button, so all the icons of the apps I had used showed up on the bottom. Then clicked about 2 seconds on the first icon and a red - sign came up. Then I could delete all the icons. Now I'm unable to. Are there other people having the same problem?

    Dario

You don't click for 2 seconds and wait for the red x anymore, you still do the double click and the apps will appear as icons and a larger "ghost" icon in the middle of the screen. swipe the larger icon up the screen and it will disappear off the top of the device.

Thank you so much, TTIssues, that did the job. The world is great because of people like you who are ready to help. May I ask how you found out about this? Thank you for your time!

Thank you - and my pleasure.

How did I find out? Trial and error - I had the same problem, couldn't get the red x anymore to close apps so figured out how to do it by playing with it. Only took a few seconds - guess I was lucky! :-)
