There would be no ban from entering the country until a person had overstayed for more than 90 days unless caught with the overstay.

With all due respect it sounds to good to be true.

With all trouble given to get hold of any kind of extensions you would be sorted out so easily for a 15k / month for up to 3 months without a 1 year entry ban.

    Are you 100% sure?

As far I have understood amnesty counts as overstay dates from the date it expires and no additional 90 days are given. Banks also call it overstay and require a paper from immi to do business meanwhile.

That's what I heard from visa agent as well.

    However...

Will amnesty be counted as overstay in case you apply for a 7 days extension starting from 26th September.

You would then overstay the extension not amnesty...

Why do you think there's a certificate needed if you can travel back home? The certificate from a hospital will of course state that you are to sick to fly home and treatment is needed here. People seeking medical treatment from overseas are not the same category. They are so called "medical tourists" and are paying for sometime very expensive treatments back home or they might have to wait a long time for treatment back home. You're mixing apples and oranges.

This have been already clarified above but thanks for input.

At least in the inital announcement (i don't know if this still applies or not) they said such a person needs a certificate from a doctor which states that the treatment is not possible in this person's home country. Might work if you come from Bangladesh, will not work if you come from Europe.

Make sense. Thanks a lot for all responses!

Are there any alternatives of extensions you might think off?

I was hoping to apply for ED but been told by 2 schools it's impossible to get it as my last ED was cancelled 15 April and I'm currently staying on no visa at all.

(What btw doesn't make sense to me as from what I know many people do somhow get ED. How?)

  5. According to the point 1.1 of the announcement attached below there is a way to extend your stay past 26th base on illness confirmed by medical certificate.

Anyone to shade some light on details of this mistery?

What sort of institution would be able to issue such certificate so it is legally accepted by IO?

    What kind of illness?

From this simple declaration it would be to easy.

    Example:

Let's say you are going through a procedure of dental implant installation. Tooth extraction, followed by wound healing, then followed by bone graft, implant and crown installation takes 6-8 month.

Such a procedure done properly should be carried as one go by a single team of dentists.

I think you also might need a Thai person to "sign" for you upon arrival at the airport back in CM. At least that was the case last month. Essentially they take responsibility for you and guarantee you'll do the home-quarantine, as far as I understand.

Do you have any copy of the form that you could share?

From what my daughter had to do when she came to stay home for 6 weeks. Down load application into her phone. She needed to check her temperature everyday and then submit the data to the application. As I understand the application will also monitor your movement if you have your phone with you. So she basically stayed home for 14 days and all the rest of us came and went as normal. Now they were supposed to send someone by the house to check up on her, but hey did not.

    Thanks for input.

Btw. I'm just back from the airport. Here is what they told me:

The app is called AOT Airports and is only for the purpose of tracking you on flights for security. For example if someone flying same plain would be found with covid they would know how to find you.

You can delete the app after coming back to chiang mai if you don't intend to fly again during covid.

    The procedure attached below.

Another thing is that you have to fill form called CM1 when you arrive back to Chiang mai. I haven't found what purpose that serves and whether it coordinates somehow with the app.

. I think the self imposed quarantine coming back to CM is still in effect.

Guys please explain what exactly self quarantine is going to be and all formal procedures ????

But, who knows what they may decide when you get there so be ready for a possible quarantine as of today

Thank you so much for checking.

    What does quarantine means?

Staying at home and they will check it or some other facilities like shangrilla or something?????

Unless the rules change in the next few days you're not returning to Chiang Mai without quarantine or 14-days self isolation.

Can you sheed more light on it?

Will I be allowed to even board the plane?

The only prove that I live here is a rental contract for a condo.

What does quarantine and self isolation technically means?

    Sorry, you are right!

They only fly to Don Mueang (DMK).

But for travel to Pattaya I suggest to use Thaismile to Suvarnabhumi (BKK).

Will come cheaper overall and quicker.

I think Viet jet air to suvarnabum would be more convenient.

Prices are 950-1400 depends how many days before you book it.

+ I guess more chance to get cheaper taxi or grab from there in case minivan is not available.

  12. I need to flight from chiang mai to Pataya on Wednesday and back in few days.

Would like to know best transportation. I guess I need to flight to suvarnabum and take bus or taxi.

My ED visa (canceled) finished on April 15 and I'm informed from that time that no stamps are needed nor issued until 1st July.

Is there any restrictions for such trip.(quarantine m, some specific documents, blah blah)

    What to expect?

Is there busses from suvarnabum to pataya?

    Any other useful info appreciated.

    Thank you

  13. Got it with no problems.

    Something to mention...

The online appointment system is not such an improvement as one might think.

    1. There was no available slots even I was booking it 2 weeks ahead before my visa expiration. So I had to pay 1900 tbh for 7 days extension as the nearest available slot was 5 days after the date of my exit stamp.

    2. 2-3 hours waiting to apply even with a que number.

    3. Some 2 hours to collect as well.

    4. Getting stamp in Nong Khai was smooth and fast. Getting minivan from lao side which moves you over Thai IO right to UT airport seemed to be very fast and hassle free as opposed to the buss which takes you just over friendship bridge to Nong Khai. Minivan cost 200 thb.

Udon Thani --> Chiang Mai, Nok Air at 19.20 is safe to catch after visa collection at the same day and it cost around 1200 thb.

    Thanks to all for help.
