You mention stamped in for 30 days then type TV.

Tourist visa gives 60 day stamp

Think you mean visa exempt entry.

To obtain a non O retirement the critical thing is for her to have a Thai bank account in her name only.

Also the application for the non O needs to be made with 15+ days remaining on her permit.

She can obtain a 30 day extension to the visa exempt entry.

Thank you yes correct arrive at airport get a visa exempt entry then complete the next steps. We are getting an agency to assist in the process because my mom is 77 years old and want things to go as smooth as possible for her without any major issues. I did a non o visa based on marriage and have had it the past 5 years doing annual renew but feel it would be in Mom best interest to have an agency for her.

You convert to a non-O, not a non-OA.  That is why no insurance is required.

Thank you so to understand, This is for my mom from USA would arrive on a tourist visa then she would convert the visa to a non o visa and no medical would be needed only the financial requirements such as seasoned bank funds or proof of social security payments that meet the Thai immigration rules?

  3. Can anyone please confirm that a retirement visa requires medical insurance? I was told by a company that specializes in the Thai Elite visa that if you arrive on a tourist visa and then convert to a non o-a visa that medical insurance is not required?

However if you get your non o-a visa at a Thai embassy in your home country before arrival to Thailand medical is then required going forward?

@raptorea can you clarify what onward flight or return flight that your family member has.

Roundtrip flight from USA arrive on Dec 1st return flight USA on Jan 3rd, I just read the news out and it looks like you can arrive without a visa and stay up to 45 days on arrival without having to pre file any visa paperwork at all with the Thai embassy.

  5. I booked a flight for one of my family members to visit me in Thailand, I have a current non o visa and I will be flying back with them from USA to Thailand soon.

I booked the flight for a stay of 33 days I know I will be fine to stay but as far as my family member flying will they be denied to board the plane without a tourist visa for up to 60 days? or can we just buy a throw away ticket to show onward travel?

I thought you were asking about now.

You should be able to get multiple entry non-o visa at the Thai consulate in Savannakhet next year.

Tiy would have to leave the country every 90 days to get a new entry from the visa. You could also a apply for a 60 day extension to visit your wife for each of the 90 day entries.

So that could turn into a total of 18 months with 60 extra days added each time of the 90 day entrys? 4 each 90 day entrys and 4 each 60 day extensions? correct? Thank you

It probably will not be much longer that the border crossings are closed.

You may be able to get a multiple entry non-o visa in Ho Chi Minh City shortley.

If you have not gotten a 60 day extension to visit your wife since you last entry to the country you could apply for one to get more time.

I am ok until March 2023 that is when my next visa expires as I was just issued a new year having only to report every 90 days to my local immigration office, However I might have a money problem in March 2023 for the 400 k thai baht requirement. I am close to the Lao border so am I right in thinking that if I do have a money problem next go around and the Lao border is open I can go the route of getting a non o based on marriage at the Thai lao embassy and get a multi entry and just be required every 3 months to go across the friendship bridge and come back the same day? Is this correct Ubonjoe?

Yes I was wondering only about the arrival date changing I arrive on the same flight number I used when applying however I thought it was close to midnight on the 30th but when I checked it was actually midnight on the 1st of Dec so my hotel is different dates now then what I had applied for but I am thinking it won't be an issue to arrive one day late.

Just to be clear my Thailand pass test and go is approved for arrival on November 30th, However I am now arriving on December 1st. My flight number that I used when applying did not change only the date of arrival to the 1st of December. I also changed my hotel to match the dates of arrival on the 1st and check out on the 2nd. I switched to a different hotel than I had applied for but the hotel is approved for test and go and all is legit with my reservation. My only concern is

getting to Thailand on Dec 1st when actually I am approved to arrive on November 30th. I guess I am looking too much into this??

I believe their concern is that when they applied for the Thailand Pass, they provided an arrival date of November 30. However, they are now arriving on December 1 instead. They want to know if the Thailand Pass QR code that shows an arrival date of November 30 can be used even though the arrival date is now December 1.

To raptorea, I don't know the answer to your question. I have read elsewhere that minor changes in date aren't an issue. If your flight number that you entered for the Thailand Pass is still the same, then I wouldn't be too concerned. However, if you are now entering in on a different flight number, you may be better off generating another Thailand Pass using the December 1 arrival date. Note that I'm assuming your hotel reservation is still for November 30 with an arrival early morning December 1. This has caused some others to have problems matching their arrival dates with their hotel reservations. In my family's case, they arrive at 00:05 on December 28 and have hotel reservations for December 27 - 30 and I didn't have an issue because of this. I had an unrelated issue for my son's application.

BP tablets are only one or two baht each and they could save your life or stop you having a stroke. Why mess with that?

Unfortunately, alcohol does have a negative effect on BP. Try reducing down from 6 large bottles of Chang a day to 5 bottles.  ????

What name of blood pressure medicine have you heard is most used or prescribed if any?

AQ stupid question is it 9 nights 10 days or 10 nights example I am getting in at 1135 pm on 11/30/21 so am I right in booking a check out date of 12/09/21  Thank you

Well to answer my stupid question the answer is it has to be 11 night 12 days because get in on Nov 30th 11:00pm that day does not count according to two hotels I called so the clock starts Dec 1st and ends check out on Dec 11th.

There is better plan B option:

Apply in exactly the same way as you have been with the ‘Test and Go’ link but instead use the ‘Alternative Quarantine Link’ - do everything the same, submit the same Vaccine certificate, the same 1 night AQ booking, the same Insurance documents.

IF the current ‘trend’ continues you ‘should’ get an immediate Thailand Pass Approval for Alternative Quarantine - that QR code opens the door... it gets you on a plane, when landing its quite possible that the human at the other end sees your vaccine certificate and that supersedes the duration stated on the Thailand Pass (which everyone knows is currently a very faulty system).

Definitely worth a risk if you are prepared to do 10 days quarantine anyway.

In the mean time the Test and Go ‘Exemption from Quarantine’ approval may arrive, but just incase it doesn’t your plan B is in place.

Well the biggest risk is 1. What if no dates are available for the 10 days that you have not pre booked an 2. You risk being charged a rack rate $ at the mercy of the hotel.  But I hear you on the back up plan.
